Question about Triglycerides
loser replied to MINI-Me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mini-Me.. Love that name.. my Tris are also in the 500 range. I was advised this would probably correct itself with the loss of weight and healthier eating, which is what the sleeve is all about. I can't see how it would prevent you having the surgery. -
Has any of the veteran sleevers had diastasis rectus abdominis and have it corrected after loosing the weight? I recently found out that is the big lump that comes up when I try to do crunches etc., and that I shouldn't be doing them with the muscle seperation. I have not always been obese, but always had to fight being overweight. I went from 240 to 300+ very fast, resulting in seperation of the rectus abdominis muscles. I understand women often get this during pregnancy. I was looking forward to getting my abs flat again, but have found that I have to correct the muscle seperation prior to doing the normal ab workouts. Anyone find anything that worked well correcting this?,, Many thanks!

Dreaming, I am going to use a compression wrap and some scar gel. This gel sounds pretty good, but still researching since I have more time. A friend who had heart bypass told me it works pretty well. Kelo-cote Scar Gel is a silicone scar gel that is designed to reduce the appearance of scars resulting from different plastic surgery procedures. Kelo-cote scar gel is the only scar gel of its kind that has been clinically proven to help treat scars.

Here ya go. They can help with the pain when traveling right after surgery and I understand they help the skin to shrink back as you loose. I am pre-op, just some things I have read on this forum and obesity help forum. Ezywrap - Bariatric Abdominal Binders Bariatric Garments | ContourMD Expand-A-Band Abdominal Binder | ContourMD

I am not sleeved yet, but I had this question also. I emailed the doc and he said sometimes he puts the drain in, depends on what he sees when he is in there. I think maybe some people have more blood vessels in that area than others and maybe that determines drain or no drain.

I may be wrong here, but it seems different doctors leave stomachs of different size. Like I know if you are planning a DS they leave a bigger sleeve. I think the stomach size they plan to leave is sized by using a bougie and they come in different sizes. Again, I am not positive as this being why some can eat more than others, it is just a conclusion I have reached after reading here and other sites. Either way I think you will be loosing weight whether you want to or not. I will be eating only 1/10 or less of what I usually eat, so how can one not loose weight.

VSG Surgery with Dr. Aceves 1-25, who's going with me? Come on don't be scared.
loser replied to Garyb_58's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Gary I am Gary from Texas, pre-sleeve. I know everything will go well for you, and like was said in the previous post, they like to hear you talk because they like it. When I was in the UK for most of 2008, I had to do a lot of talking, and they seemed to like it, especially the girls, so watch it down there in Mexico and don't get into to much trouble. Best wishes and Happy New Year! -
Thin1day, I notice you are in San Antonio, did you go to Dr. Alvarez? I read another post that the pain medicine he uses didn't help much. Congrats you having it over and wishing you a speedy speedy recovery!

First Horrible Experience...anyone else?
loser replied to I Can and I Will's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Linda and Tiffykins, Thank you both very much,, back to feeling good about it again,, was getting a little depressed.. lol.. Tiffykins, We really appreciate the sacrifices you and your hubby make for this country. It would be tough to have a spouse away like that. My son got back from Afghanistan Christmas morning. He is in the 10th Mountain out of New York. Saw a lot of action, was on the front lines a couple miles from Pakistan. He still maintains a good attitude, and prays for piece for the Afghan people. He says he has never seen so much poverty. Things we take for granite they can't imagine. This board is great, I think I am beginning to see what it will really be like. Even with all the problems reported, no one has said they regretted getting sleeved. -
First Horrible Experience...anyone else?
loser replied to I Can and I Will's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok Tiffykins and anyone else, sounds like it gets back to really craving food again, and tempted to overeat. So when you know you can't without suffering some unpleasant consequences, do you wish you had not been sleeved? -
JudyJudy, Thank you, that will help me stick to this diet I started today. I see the DR on the 4th of January, and that is when he will determine the length of time I will need to diet before he will do my surgery. I really want it before the end of January and I know he has a few available dates. Checked my bp the night I posted and it was pretty high, one time was 150/93 with a 73bpm. Checked earlier today and I am down to 133/87 @70bpm. I am drinking protein/low carb drinks, water and only eating green veggies, sugar free pudding and yougart. I have learned these things on this awesome forum. I really appreciate the heads up. Hope things go well for you from here forward with no more setbacks.
