I am Not Doing Good AT This!!!
loser replied to pumpkin07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you Tiffykins..Your so right. I have to admit I am worried and feel bad about doing it.. It just seems everything is going so well I could do a little cheat. But you are right. Now I have concerns that will last for at least two more weeks. So anyone else out there that is thinking about it,, dont' do it. I noticed where others talked about having foods they shouldn't yet, and I also noticed the difference in recommended diets. The diet my doctor put me is a very safe one, and I should respect it, rather than tempting fate. -

I am Not Doing Good AT This!!!
loser replied to pumpkin07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anyone know the consequences if a person were to eat a small amount of solid foods like a bite off a soft cookie, real small piece of baloney,, like less than a normal bite, while on the full liquids diet, more than 12 days out from surgery? Would it mean definate trouble in the future, or would the trouble happen right away? I am having the opposite problem girls. I seem to be blessed and doing so well, I feel I can eat anything already. But now I am concerned that this may be something that kicks me a week or two out. -

Rearranged my closet yesterday,, moved the 46s out and the 42s in.. Was a fun day..

Bambi,, you are a miracle.. lol.. I don't think you need to worry about it. You are just one of the lucky ones. If you are eating only 1/2 cup, I dont' think you have to worry about gaining weight.. I read where our sleeve will hold 8-12 ozs eventually, then we would be eating almost like a normal person...

Can someone analyze what I'm eating pls?

At 30carbs or less your body is probably in ketosis which also takes away the desire for food. I think VSG patients should be more advised on what is going on with the carbs and ketosis and the role it plays. I was happy to go into ketosis but not everyone's body handles it well, it seems. Maybe if you have lack of energy or getting sick try a little increase in the carbs to about 60. I think it would be interesting if people would post their carb intake along with the protein and calories. I have attached this short article on it, but do your due diligence and google it, learn what is going on, so if you get a side effect you may know how to handle it better before it becomes a problem. Kinda shocked I did this

OK,, I think you will love the sleeve over time, but you really need to follow the post op diet. I have had explained in detail why, bits of solid food getting stuck in your suture line while it is healing can cause some bad complications. I have had little bitty peices of solid food but immediately after drank a lot of water. Now since I have quit craving food it is not a problem at all. Try to keep your carbs as low as possible, and your protein. This will put you into ketosis, which also takes away your craving for food. Just be aware of the possible side effects of ketosis. I have attached a short article I just read this morning. Wishing you the best of happiness and health. Thank you. Yeah, it feels great. I was reading about the side effects of ketosis and thought you might want to google it. Nothing bad, just learn what to maybe expect if your body doesn't tolerate it well. Also, I was reading Dr. Atkins stated you need to comsume less than 30carbs per day, which I do and that takes your desire for food away, but not healthy to be on a such low carb diet over a long period of time. When I start solid foods i am going to aim for around 60. They say that is like the "sweet spot", you feel great, don't have strong cravings, and can stay there a long time without bad side effects.. Here is part of one of the articles I read.

Unjury Unflavored Protein
loser replied to excited2lose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in agreement with the Pirate :>). Unjury protein is good stuff. I have all the flavors but have only used the unflavored once in a homemade soup. I didn't taste anything different. -

My worst day thus far... feel like I'm starving...
loser replied to youknowit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Sleeve Twin Sister,, I was craving everything really badly until yesterday, now nothing sounds good enough to eat. The food commercials were driving me nuts, but now they have no affect. I ate some cream soup yesterday got bloated really full,, I must have had to much,, but since then I don't want to eat or drink anything. At first felt very weird, but I am loving it. I just have to make myself drink & eat. It doesn't taste bad, I just don't have any cravings. So, Sis,, you get your chin up, hang in there, your loosing weight you will never regain. -

Yeah Cajun!!.. This is much better than I imagined it to be. Feeling very good here, and like you I have to tell myself to eat and drink so I stay healthy,, wow,, LOL, have to make myself eat,, you gotta be kidding me.. I hope it continues like this the rest of my life. Went for a drive today just to get out. Usually my car steering wheel will try to make me turn into every good restaurant,, even the car is not craving food.. :>)

Thank you all, this is all very good news. Now I see why people use to tell me,, "all you have to do is not eat as much". No I understand what they were feeling, but they will never know what it is like to have the gene or whatever that made the cravings so strong. This is great. Wow, Tiff you hardly missed a lick after GB surgery. Your awesome.. DeeDee,, good thing you desire food at this point,, your getting skinny I don't think a little extra food will do you any harm. You are looking so fine....!

Sleeved yeterday and feeling bad
loser replied to tennessee1031's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Cajun. That sounds great. How long before you were able to hang up the cpap machine. I am 9 days out and look forward to the day. THX -
Just goes to show how different everyones body is. Water is tasting good to me again, I hate the sweet water now. I am 9 days out and blessed. Everything is coming along really good. The doc did a great job, loosing weight, not sick, loosing appetite after I eat/drink, and today feeling really really stuffed after 6oz of cream soup. It made so even pizza on tv commercial did not look good after it has been driving me nuts for 4.5 weeks, since preop diet. I wish everyone would go so well. I almost feel guilty. Maybe mines coming..

Bitsy, Congrats and welcome to the loosers bench. What you are going through sounds very familiar. My first few days were no fun for sure. I am in my second week, 9 days post op. I can now sleep on my stomach, almost all pain is gone and feeling great. I had some homemade cream soup today. After eating the 6oz of cream soup I was so stuffed and felt bloated. To be honest it felt great, now I know how you feel when you get a full sleeve, the same as a full stomach. You just don't want food, none of it looks good. I actually had concerns about that, I was afraid I would want to eat more even though full. Well, I have drank water consistantly since about a 1/2 hour after having the soup and I am still full, so all I am craving is water. Don't want to look at any food right now. I tell you this because this is exciting for me, I think this thing will work ..My craving is totally gone for the time being.. So it is exciting and a good feeling once through the first week, as long as no complications develope.
