Chronic pedal edema will eventually cause your tissues to become waterlogged and break down. Your tendons, ligaments and nerves will start to break down on you if it is truly edema and unchecked. I have heart failure and have had to deal with edema. Mine comes on when I rest, which is opposite of most people whos is worse at the end of the day. When it first started breaking down the nerves in my feet, it was really painful. I could step into a tub of warm Water and it felt boiling, like me feet were on fire. Now my feet are mostly numb, which leads to walking difficulty. You need to really stress to your doctor this issue.

Help!I'm in pain eating fairly soft foods
minimeme replied to marfar7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont think throwing up is an indication of the sweet spot, throwing up is not healthy for you band. Talk to your doctors office and hear what they have to say. They may want you to go full liquids for a few more days or he may want you to come in for a slight defill. -
Why I'm considering a lawsuit...
minimeme replied to rlynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a lot of aftercare with the band. You probably would have been better served with the sleeve due to your lack of funds after surgery. You havent really mentioned any type of malpractice or fraud on the doctors part, cant see a lawyer taking your case for free so you will be out money you could use for fills. Why not just pay for a fill or two and in the mean time, read the materials they gave you and work the program. It has only been a few months. Whatever you decide, wish you nothing but the best. -
I am down 108 lbs, just havent updated my ticker (forgot my password).

Is this going to be another failed attempt?
minimeme replied to Bell1138's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck, but you are starting with a huge misconception. The lapband only helps when you follow the rules and do your part. -
What Foods make you feel full???...
minimeme replied to princessaktmc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same as above, fill up on lean meats, chicken and fish, then veggies and dairy. Try to avoid breads, pasta, rice, and processed foods as they will have a dramatic affect on your blood sugar/hunger. -
Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!
minimeme replied to Rockin' Robyn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am officially down 108 lbs. Yeah! I have never once in my life lost even 25 lbs. It has been a steady increase of 5-10 lbs a year for 20 plus years. This is amazing. I went on the liquid diet after Oprah did, and got kicked off because they said I was cheating. I swear I wasnt. I was following their plan to a Tee. So there was always this doubt in the back of my mind about having surgery. I was so afraid I would be one of the people who it just didnt work for, no explanation. While I havent totally relaxed, I am not happy to be claiming some victory. I was in my car the other day and looked down and couldnt believe how much smaller I was. I fit so much better in my little coupes seats. -
All calories are not equal. Your body does not handle Protein calories and carbohydrate calories the same. It is easier to store carbohydrate calories than it is to store protein. I am eating 1500 calories a day with 20% being carbohydrates. If I were to do the same 1500 calories in low fat/high carb intake, I would not have the same results.

choke on chicken, PB steak, but can eat pizza fritta?
minimeme replied to Mickey527's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What causes issues is confusing and aggravating at times. I ate my first steak the other day no problems, but when I ate half a sandwich, I came right back up. I guess the steak doesnt gum up like the bread when chewed. I normally dont PB (productive burps), rarely if ever. And I have only thrown up 3 times. I am really not that tight, but on the rare occasion sometimes I have even be careful how fast I drink Water. -
If you want to kick start your weight loss, you could try eating low carb. Or doing lots of exercising. Or you could just do things in moderation and be patient. I hate to answer some of these because the minute you say what is working for you, someone will come along to call you out and let you know you dont know anything. LOL I am 4 months out and have lost over 100 lbs., but I had a lot to loose to begin with. I eat low carb and exercise daily. I eat more than most, 5-6 meals a day because my hunger is just aweful. Of coarse, maybe that is why my weight is coming off so fast, my metabolism is causing both the hunger and the weight loss. I dunno.

County hospital treats everyone regardless of money. Private hospitals might turn you away if it isnt an emergency. Find your county hospital and go there.

I have a 14cc with 7cc in it. I have had one fill, 5ccs. I dont really feel "restricted", but I am doing well with the weight loss so I have decided to leave it alone until I need more help. -
Dealing with Cravings/Food Obsessions.
minimeme replied to gnortenjones's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am trying to change my behaviors that got me fat. When I start craving something I shouldnt, I will go exercise. I started this after surgery when the hunger started. Retraining myself is much like training a dog. I need to be consistent. The minute that craving hits or that thought about eat, I get up and move. Now, with that said, lately I have been craving citrus really bad. I bought some sugar free lemonade at Chic-fil-a and have been drinking that. And loading my iced tea up with lime juice. Since citrus isnt as high in calories or fat as say, ice cream, I havent worried about it. But if I suddenly stall, I will know what I have changed in my diet. Usually, it isnt just one thing but an overall lax attitude that causes stalls. Last time it was refried Beans, but I was slipping in several areas also. -
Almost 4 weeks since surgery...Can I have a freakin drink??
minimeme replied to Tiggerangel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your forgiven, even for suggesting I might need help with alcoholism. Even though you kinda forgot about that one. But thats ok. I am an easy going type person. Not just a braggart about alcohol. LOL:wink: -
2 days post-op and hungry?
minimeme replied to PolynesianLady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me the hunger was bad post surgery. I made sure I drank all the water I could and started walking. Exercise and water both help with the hunger a bit. But for me, it was still tough. No wait, it IS tough....still. -

Almost 4 weeks since surgery...Can I have a freakin drink??
minimeme replied to Tiggerangel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I still drink. Mostly martinis (Cosmopolitans, blueberry martini, pomegranite martini, you name it). So far it is working for me. If things start to not work, then I will reexamine what I am doing. One of the things no one has touched on yet is swapping vices. Being forced to give up food, you can easily swap for alcohol or other behaviors. Just be cautious. Oh and Spartan, how completely petty and small of you. The whole idea that you are going to follow someones posts in order to gloat at their failure should be enough to let you know you got some more work to do on yourself. You might be at goal, but you got some issues. -
I ate there yesterday, ordered off the big girls menu. LOL Seriously, if they allow you to order off the kids menu, it is a courtesy. Kids menus are pretty specific and usually have an AGE limit printed right on them. I choose this band, the whole world doesnt have to change to meet my eating style now. I guess it is the whole entitlement attitude that kinda leaves me cold...

sKIN CARE PRODUCTS ANY IDEAS FOR HELPING WITH LOOSE SKIN
minimeme replied to CHERITCH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After I turn off the shower, before I dry off, I put oil on my skin. I usually use the Neutragena, but when I am feeling cheap I buy the Johnsons baby oil. And then after I dry off, I hit the worst spots with heavy lotion with shea butter. -
Please Help. I`m a "Diet Junkie"
minimeme replied to kcg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am only a few months out myself, and I eat low carb. For me, it was/is the only way I am going to be able to control my hunger. Most of my meals consist of grilled or baked fish or poultry and lightly cooked veggies. No potatoes, no Pasta, no bread. I get my dairy thru cottage cheese and yogurt mostly. So, you could say I am "dieting". But I consider eating low carb more of a way of life. Also, even though I have lost 100 lbs, I still am about half way to where I need to be. So, if you only have 60-75 lbs to loose, you are half way there also. No idea what your goals are.
