I had (and sometimes still do) that problem too. My hunger was not all in my head, it was physically hard to take. My stomach grumbled and rolled and made it so hard for me. It has gotten better, but I have to watch my carbs. I can drink a 1/4 cup of low cal cranberry juice and be in trouble. The best advice I can give is to journal your food. Keep track of what you are eating before you get so hungry. Try to eat things that wont send your blood sugar out of control. It is the only thing that works for me. Instead of eatting 1/2 an apple, I will eat 1/4 an apple with a slice of cheddar cheese. Or 1/2 a pear with a little cottage cheese. Or a couple grapes with a wedge of laughing cow.

Welcome back. I am too new to have known your previous posts. But now you have that song by Biggie stuck in my head. -
September 2009 Band Date
minimeme replied to ashleysara's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK, is something going on with my post? I linked to a image of the charges and now the pic is missing? Am I missing something? Why would someone alter my post and not say something to me? -

Which is worse for your band...?
minimeme replied to k-statearmywife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told vomiting is one of the worst things you can do with a band. But I am afraid to post it because as soon as I do one of the more "forceful" opinions on the board will be by to remind me I know nothing. -
My husband wants to get banded too and i am concerned...
minimeme replied to krstjump03's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think having your spouse banded would be nice because like the previous poster wrote, eating the same is less work for you. But it sounds like there are issues that really dont have to do with the band. I wont go into it as you know what is going on and like you said, you are a nurturer. My situation is different and I hope you can get some value from it. My baby lost a lot of weight but did it himself without surgery. He now owns his own fitness studio and trains people. He has been sweet so far, but I can tell he really doesnt understand my decision. Having two people doing things differently is harder. We have to work much harder at keeping the communication going between us. -
Vegetable Intake and Juicing
minimeme replied to healthy-me-in-Az's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Pills can never take the place of fresh veggies. You may be able to get your basic vitamins in a pill, but they will never have all the additional nutrients that are also present in vegetables. -
Why do we eat Pureed if we can tolerate Regular?
minimeme replied to mepainting's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your band needs time to form scar tissue around it to help secure it from slippage. You have went thru a very drastic step in order to loose weight, dont cheat yourself and risk complications now. -
scared of saggy skin!!!
minimeme replied to lydialynch's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have everything in your favor. I bet you will look fabulous. And I wish I would have done something when I only had 70 to loose. One thing I have always done is I put oil on my skin after I step out of the shower before I dry off. Then I follow it up with lotion on other parts like my tummy. -
I have also known guys at work whos insurance was dropped because they ran out of paid leave options. Once you are no longer drawing a pay check, you no longer have insurance. The time it takes for someone to go from one form of insurance to a different in times like these can be fatal. The whole idea that the only people who are uninsured are those who are too lazy to work come from elitist. I come from poor people, I know dozens who have been horribly affected by insurance, lack of or switching.

Who knew scrambled eggs would be so tasty?
minimeme replied to TinaM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
eggs have always been one of my fav dishes. And I agree, fresh laid free range eggs are soooo much better than the sickly, mass produced stuff you get at the market. -
Vegetable Intake and Juicing
minimeme replied to healthy-me-in-Az's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am a huge veggie eater and have considered juicing. But I just cant take fruit juice. It spikes my blood sugar and sends my hunger into overdrive. -
September 2009 Band Date
minimeme replied to ashleysara's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here is the latest I saw. It isnt the total bill and it is for surgery only. Now I am not paying for fills or visits, no idea how it all works (as far as paying). I wont know more until after the holidays when I can call and find out what everything is. -
The fact that the surgery IS reversable and the band removable is a huge plus factor for me. I would never agree to bariatric surgery that you couldnt reverse later. There are so many things that could go wrong later on and having my insides intact are important to me.

Reasons I'm Thankful for my Band (add yours)

I didnt have to ask for a seat belt extension when I flew. Sometimes they can be very ugly about getting you one. -
How often do you weigh?
minimeme replied to Twilight's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I weight daily, after I get up and use the bathroom. I find weighing at the same time is more accurate. -
Protein HELP!
minimeme replied to NewYearNewMe2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are also books on weight loss surgery that explain a lot about diet. If you dont want to outlay the money, you can always hit up your library. I know mine also has a online ebook site where you can read them with a free software download. -
September 2009 Band Date
minimeme replied to ashleysara's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I looked at my medical claims online and my surgery was over $200,000 total. The latest round of charges were over $120,000. OMG. Two huge charges for "hospital incidentals" were $50,000 and $28,000. The lifetime cap on my insurance is $2million. So, 1/10 of my lifetime coverage went to pay for this surgery. I am stunned. I wouldnt have done it had I known. -
Also, melon can cause mucus. There is an old adage about melon, "eat it alone or leave it alone".

What i cannot understand is why people want to act like what works for them should work for everyone??? I mean, seriously? I HAVE to eat low carb. My blood sugar will go completely out of control and I will get into serious trouble. For those who dont have it, I am actually very happy for you. God bless you. You have a better metabolism than I do. I tell people what works for me, and expect them to figure out what works for them. NEVER...NEVER...NEVER would I come on her and do a fake "shudder" over someone elses diet. Lord, what is wrong with people here? As if it isnt bad enough having the whole world watch us eat, now we have to catch it from people who should be more understanding.

How many calories do you eat daily to lose weight?
minimeme replied to littlefroggy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I eat 1200 to 1500 daily. I just make sure to choose wisely and eat every 2 hours even if it is half an apple with a slice of cheese. -
CleosMom, something just isnt right. Have you talked to your primary doctor to see about maybe seeing an Endocrinologist? And I dont blame you about not wanting a device that is causing your pain. I was very afraid that the band would not work for me. I have never been able to loose even 15 lbs. I went on the liquid diet back in the eighties (or was it ninties?) and lost, but not enough to keep me on the program. I got kicked off because they thought I was cheating and not being truthful. Now that was a kick in the gut. So, it really was worrisome for me. The thought that I might go thru something so sever and still not loose. Right now, it seems to be working, but I am still very early on. I may wind up in your shoes.

Before and after Food Budgets
minimeme replied to AprilShowers2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am spending more because I am still in the beginning stages and relying heavily on the liquid shakes, which are expensive. Plus all the suppliments are very expensive too. -
