    Ahhh!

Way to Go Ruby Tuesday! Welcome to the Loser's Bench! Just remember to keep sipping fluids slowly, burp betweens small sips, and walk, walk, walk to relieve gas and prevent blood clots. Nap when tired, talk to us on the forum, and let us know how you are doing!
  2. Kelly, Congratulations on taking this step, you will be so glad you did! If your surgeon recommended a pre-op diet, know that it is essential to follow it carefully because the purpose is to shrink the liver, and get it out of the way so they can safely perform the surgery. If it is not done properly you have a higher risk of serious complications. Some people don't have to do a preop diet and your surgeon will let you know if you need one. Welcome to the forum!
  3. PPI's (Nexium, Prilosec) cause the dry mouth. I have it too. It helps a little if I take the nexium first thing in the morning, instead of in the evening. It's important to keep teeth brushed/flossed really well because normally the saliva helps protect them from cavity formation. Once you're off the PPI, the dry mouth should resolve. Being dehydrated can also predispose to blood clots...so be sure to get in all the required fluids....

    New to sleeve

I had waves of drowsiness/fatigue too, especially the first two weeks. I just listened to my body, and took a nap when I felt sleepy. Loved it! Rest is healing. Was glad I took two weeks off work. Mushies gave me a much more normal energy level...but I was pooped by the time I finished my work shift, for about two weeks.
  5. The two stage procedure is what I have seen recommended in the literature, to be safer. It allows time for tissue to heal so you have less chance of a leak after the sleeve. I agree with following your surgeon's recommendation on that, even though it will take you more time to reach your goal.

    problem

This post is absolutely on target. Please read it over and over...is it possible that your bf just wants to have a free babysitter??? It appears that he does not have any love or respect for YOU...that is sad for you, but you deserve more in a relationship. His behavior is abusive, and based on what I've seen in similar cases, it is my opinion that eventually it will become physical abuse. Please get out of there while you can and take care of yourself. You'll be so much happier!
  7. I take a probiotic and that seems to help keep things quieter down below.
  8. Dr Aceves recommended nexium for three months for me. I'll try to start tapering off it after that. I'd love to end up on NO prescriptions drugs at all...just OTC calcium and a multiple vit. That's my goal anyway.

    August Sleevers

AJW, you are doing terriffic! How do the medifast diets taste? Do they allow you to get in 70 gms Protein daily? You'll be at target in no time the rate you are going!
  10. CONGRATULATIONS STOONGAL! Great job!
  11. I agree 100% with Tiffany. Your eating pattern could cause a leak, could cost you 20-60,000 bucks (or more) to treat in the ICU, or at worst, could cause you to die. Get rid of whatever is tempting you and get some help right away to deal with the issues that are causing you to endanger yourself. This is serious. Just do what needs to be done to take care of yourself. I hope you are better soon.
  12. I guess it is true that everyone is so different. I could drink about 4 ounces of mushies, just like I could drink clears. But once I started regular food, 1 1/2 ounces is my limit. Very tiny amount and I am satisfied. I can drink 20 ounces of clear liquid in 1 hour, sipping. Still must avoid big gulps though, or I hurt. Still have to burp a lot. And there are still lots of gurglings going on.

    Norma's sleeved

Rest, walk, and sip....take it easy....let us know how you are getting along! glad everything went well for you.
  14. Chancie,

How much were you exercising during the first 6 months? I have a hard time motivating myself to step on my treadmill that is right there in my living room...but I have still lost 40 pounds since starting my pre surg diet. Do you think the weight really comes off faster with exercise, or does it just tone you up?

  15. A back up plan is a great idea. I was almost glad that my insurance would not cover my sleeve...that meant I could just do it without any wait or hassles. Luckily I had been saving up the money.

    problem

It sounds like this guy is a serious obstacle to your future. If you feel you don't deserve anyone who treats you better, I suggest some counselling to help you appreciate yourself more. You deserve better.
  20. I am on regular food now, can only eat about 1 1/2 ounces of dense protein such as chicken. Then I am full. Have to drink protein shakes to get in all the grams I need. Still No major problems!

testing one two three I went into user CP and at the bottom of the page, select default text formatting. You can change your font, size, color, etc there...

That is wierd. Yours is about four times as big as mine, and it is in purple. do you see that on your screen? It may be that each person's is set in their user CP area, so it reads differently based on how you set it. I did change mine to a larger font when I first started using the forum. Now I clicked on the "A" up in the right hand corner and selected a huge font/ Now I clicked on the double A in the left hand corner at the top that says remove formatting. Let's see what this looks like posted.... This is wierd...when I am reading the forum this all looks black and small. But in this editing box it is the larger, colored version that I selected in User CP. I don't understand why.
  23. I've read 1% pretty consistently too...I have no idea where they got those statistics but I don't think they are correct.
