I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2004.  I had been overweight a few times, mainly after having children, but was able to lose most of the weight myself with different diets.  But no matter where I lost it I always seemed to find it again.  Wish I could find all the important stuff as easily.  The Chemo caused neuropathy of my leg and hands.  I also have lymphedema from losing all my lymph glands in my right arm.  These all caused me not to be able to continue in my nursing career so I had to go on long term disability.  Luckily for me my company has great disability insurance and I am covered under their health insurance until I am of retirement age.  I used to be fairly active, I took long walks and rode my bike everywhere.  But after falling off my bike twice and getting hurt I found that I could no longer be the active person I was.  So the weight found me while I was sitting on my couch and lying in my bed.  I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea and had a uvulectomy in 1998.  This surgery didn't help much but I can't tolerate the CPAP.  I also have high blood pressure, a fatty liver, gall bladder issues, family history of heart problems and diabetes.  I am a mess.  Although I am not up to the recommended BMI of over 35, my insurance did approve me for surgery due to my health history.  I guess they know that the heavier I am the more they will have to pay for required treatments due to the weight.  I saw my surgeon in June and had approval by July.  I have a date set for Sept. 22 because I wanted to celebrate my grandson's birthday on Sept. 9.  My son today told me he is planning on celebrating the birthday on Sept 13 which means I will have been on the liquid diet for a few days and won't be able to have cake as planned anyway.    So tomorrow I will call the Dr and see if they can move my date up a week sooner.  I started the liquid protein diet yesterday just in case.  Hopefully I can be banded sooner.
