You All Are So Amazing And Doing Fantastic With Your Weight Loss. I Have Had Some Problems With My Health And Have Not Been Able To Lose Anything In A Few Months. I Had Problems With My Esophogus And Had To Be Stretched Last Week. No Matter What I Ate Or Drank 90% Of The Time It Would All Come Back Up. The Only Things That Stayed Down Were Fattening Stuff, But Of Course!! Finally I Get To Get A Fill, It's Been 3 Months. I Have Only Lost 22lbs In 6 Months, But I Have Lost A Lot Of Inches And Gone Down 3 Sizes. It's Been A Weird Rollercoaster For Me, Sad At Times Since I Wasn't Losing And Couldn't Get Filled., I Would Read This Thread And See That Everyone Has Lost A Good Amount Of Weight And Wonder What In The World Is Wrong With Me. I Hope And Pray After This Fill, Things Will Start Moving In The Right Direction. Thanks For Listening And Good Luck To All.

Weird symptoms of being to tight?
mstrish replied to Becky Lambert's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nykee- Hey there, your problems sound familiar to me. I have the same situation. I went to the doc yesterday and he did a barrium swallow to make sure my band was ok, and it was. He thinks I need to go back on protonics for my GERD and go see my GI doc. I had GERD with horrible symtoms and had to take 20mg Aciphex every day, but after I got the band, I didn't experience any problems and have been off the medicine for 4 months. I started again last night with Aciphex, so I will let you know what happens in the next few weeks. Good Luck -
Weird symptoms of being to tight?
mstrish replied to Becky Lambert's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OMG. this is the thread I've been looking for!!!! I too have had weird problems with my band. I've had one fill of .5, then 3 weeks later had to have an unfill of .25, I was sooo tight I couldn't keep anything down. I was originally banded 8/28/06, things were fine, I was losing, slowly. As I was healing, I got tighter. I had that unfill in November, things were good, still losing about 1 lb./week -slow but steady. Now again, I'm having food get stuck and it comes back up with almost everything I eat, except for junk..cookies, ice cream, funny how those stay down, no problems. Wed. I have an appt. with my doc, maybe another unfill or barrium swallow to see if it could be my esophogus. I already had narrowing of the esophogus and GERD prior to surgery and had my esophogus stretched a few times before, but they didn't feel it would bother me to get the band. Unfortunetly, I'm affraid it could be that. we will see what he says, I'll let ya know. I live in the Orlando Florida area, where are you guys from??? -
Georgina, Hi there, funny thing is I'll be in Miami this weekend for the last Nascar race. I'll be riding with a friend of mine down there. Who knows where we'll be.

I recently had my 2nd fill and now cannot tollerate most meats. They go down and then after 2-3 bites, they feel stuck. The only way I can get rid of the pain is to PB. It's not like vomiting, there is no strain, it just pops out. I have a full upper denture and sometimes think I don't chew my food as well as most with real teeth. Maybe I don't know how to chew it to bits either, never had to do that before. I just made a wonderful concoction for dinner. I made mashed potatoes, turned it into thick soup, added bits of ham I made for dinner, added cheese and broccolli to it and it went down fine. That was a first in the last 10 days to go down and stay down. Wow, finally I feel full. Amen.

It's so funny to read the messages here, because for the last 10 days after my 2nd fill, I haven't been able to eat any meat, bread or fish. Everything goes down and then oopps it is stuck. Crap, now I try to make it slide down but, nope it's coming back up, yikes. I've been thinking, I must need an unfill or something, is this even normal?? I called my doc's nurse and she said, if I continued to be able to eat other proteins then it would be ok, but they want you to be able to eat meats to help the band work harder. I guess I'm gonna wait for a few more days and see what happens, I'm getting a bit of my reflux back which sucks. It's so wonderful to go here and read everyones thoughts and accomplishments. I am down from 237 to 222 since being banded 8/28. Slowly but surely!!!

Gilbert, I was banded 8/28 and just had my 2nd fill about 10 days ago. I feel the same way, I'm still hungry but I definetly am restricted. I can't seem to swallow any meat or bread. It gets stuck in my esophogus and normally I have to burp it up. I drink most Proteins and try to vary my food which is hard, when it doesn't want to stay down. I talked to my doctor and he said I may be too restricted and could get an unfill. Leave it out for a few weeks and then slowly re fill back up. I'm going to wait until Wednesday which is his fill day, we'll see how I feel then. I just drank a 17gram EAS Protein shake and I am still hungry...:help:

Hey everyone, sounds like we all have a bit of trouble with our 2nd fill. I have a hard time keeping any meat down, I've had plenty of BP's in the last week since my 2nd fill. I am bad and don't count my calories or weigh my food. I know I eat about 1/4 of what I used to, so that's a miracle in itself, for me. I was banded 8/28 and have lost 16 lbs. and I have lost a lot of inches, mainly in my butt and legs, which is good. I don't get much continuous exercise but I also don't sit around. The one thing I hate is getting food stuck, it hurts and I have to get rid of it immediately. I wonder how long that will last?? It's really hard to get in 65 grams of protein when I can't keep it down. What do you all eat??

Hello everyone, it's been a long time since I posted as well. It seems like everyone is getting or has gotten their 2nd fills. I just got mine on Wed., and I have some mega restriction going on. Funny how a few days ago I could have eaten anything and today I can't even get a thin slice of turkey to stay down, yikes!! I may be too tight, what do you all think? I'm totally confused about this band all the sudden. The food goes down my throat and gets stuck before it even reaches my stomache, is this normal??
-
Hello out there, how is everyone doing? Hopefully very well. I got my first fill last Wed. and don't really know how to tell if I need another:help:. I am self pay and get free fills for up to one yr. which will be August 28th. I have plenty of time, but want to keep the ball rolling. So far, I have lost 12 lbs. in 6 weeks, not bad, better than without surgery. I am maybe not as strict as I should be, but then again, I don't want to totally go overboard and be misserable. I try pretty hard and I feel I'm doing fine. That's what counts, right??? I hope everyone is also doing great, every pound counts!! Hey does anyone know if they offer this surgery in London, England???If so where??:guess

Good Evening everyone!! I'm amazed at all the different dr. orders for post op diets. My doc has me on 1wk liquids after sx,then 2 wks milk, soups, protein shakes, yogurt, then 1 wk mushies, then onto solids. Lucky for me I'm doing good, I've lost 8 lbs since my sx 8/28. I had a carnation s/f instant brkfst in a.m., 1/2 cup mango ital. ice for lunch and cream of shrimp soup w/old bay seasoning for dinner and I'm stuffed. I drink a lot of water also. It's weird how little fills me up. Before I would of chowed down a ton of junk and been ready for desert too,. lol. The soup I mentioned before is sooooo good, try it. My doc won't do fills until 6 wks. post op, so I am scheduled for Oct. hope I can hold out til then. I am so glad we have this site to turn to, thanks to whomever started it. Keep up the good work people.

Telly, Do Those Yogurt Drinks Fill You Up? That's A Great Idea, I Guess You Get Very Creative With Different Foods Now, Huh? Tomorrow I Get To Start On Milk Products, Yea!!! I Am So Looking Forward To That, I'm Over The Jello/juice Thing, I Wonder If I'll Ever Hate Ice Cream That Much.

Pjk, I Know How You Felt, I'm With You. Today Is Saturday And I Feel So Much Better, A Bit Bloated And Have Loose Bm's Still But Those Too Will Pass. I Wish I Could Go Back To Work, But My Job Is A Bit Too Physical, I Do Homecare Nursing, So I Will Wait Til' Wednesday To Go Back And Take It Slow. Thanks To Everyone For Your Encouragement.

My neice had this surg. done 1 yr. ago and said she made cream of shrimp soup minus shrimp chunks and added old bay seasoning. It WAS TO DIE FOR.

My surgery date was 8/28 and Booda I know what you mean by starving. Go to GNC and get some isopure liquid protein 40 gr. banana/pineapple is the best. It will help your pangs of hunger. My doc had me on clear liquids which did not include cream soups only broth (which I hate now). Sunday I get to go on full liquid, ( carnation instant breakfast, slim-fast, ice cream, cream soups, pudding, etc) I can barely wait for tomorrow. I have been having the squirts and affraid to leave my house, but I have lost 12lbs in 9 days, whoo-hoo!!!

I was just banded this past Monday 8/28 in Melbourne, FL. The first couple days I slept a lot from pain meds and thought I was doing great, then Thurday rolled around and I was nauseated and had the runs and my tummy is blah. I need to find something more satisfying than broth and jello and popsicles. Sunday, I advance to milk products. I hope that will help me feel better.

Hey there, nice to see someone in the area. I was banded this past Mon. 8/28. by Dr. Fusco. This first week is not as easy as I had anticipated. I am already sick of jello and popsicles, any suggestions??
