Self Pay..Both insurances will not touch the LAP-Band..only Gastiric 8.What was you "deciding factor" for having this surgery? My mom, who is in the program through her insurance for Gastric bypass. Mostly preventitive..right now I only have a borderline case of apnea and being fat. Like most I can only hold the weight off for about 3 years. I know what to do, I use to body build and here I am. I want to be active for my children.

Go 2010 January team.... Hello my name is Heather and I am from Portland, OR. I am scheduled for Jan 13th.. I am pretty nervous because I have a lot of stress in my life right now, so I know that is not good for the band. My mom is my biggest support. The day before surg. I have to do just liquid only, then stop everything at midnight. I enjoy reading the post and looking at the inspirational pictures of everyone. It's great... I would love to keep in touch with everyone who is having surgery in january... good luck Heather:)

Thanks for starting this discussion. I havent been banded yet, but my surgery date is Jan. 13th. I am double covered by very good insurance but the insurances/pharmacutical would rather make money off you for long term care verses being preventative. Very frustrating. Both my husband and I make good money but with raising two little 6 year old and all their expenses  I took a loan from my 401K. Here in Oregon, the surgery will cost 23,000. Which includes an extra insurance the clinic offer for 2yrs and a year follow ups and fills with the Dr.. The insurance is called BLIS. BLIS covers anything about the band, if one has to have surgery because of slippage, erosion, port problems, etc...But the draw back is they only offer up to 24 months.. I have been utilizing my insurance with the labs, sleep study, etc... I am also very worried something down the road after the 2yrs will happen. But I am looking forward to the new journey. Heather:)

Hello I am waiting for my last doctor consult, but enjoy reading the post. Just be careful of cheap protien..You will know if you bought some. It will make u very gassy which is very painful. When I use to bodybuild I tried many different types of protien and it's difficult find one u like. It seems the body would like one type of protien for awhile then start rejecting. A talk to one of my old trainers and asked why the whey protien is getting so expensive. He stated the companies are shipping the good protien overseas..so now an average tub of whey protien cost us about 45.00+ hope it helps..
