i have been overweight for as long as i can remember.  i mean, i can remember being in kindergarten and being like 2x the size of my classmates.  when i was 17, my parents suggested lapband.  i freaked out.  luckily, my doctor at that time said no way.now, i am 22 and starting my final year of college.  we started talking about lapband again and i was still a little hesitant.  but i met with the doctor and went through a few appointments before i realized that the surgery is exactly what i needed.  i was banded on July 30, 2009.  today is August 7th and i have officially lost 26 pounds.
