Hi All! I have been looking into lapband for awhile now, was all convinced to go ahead, I qualify EXCEPT the dreaded 12 month supervised diet. Well, I have been dieting under my doc supervision for 9 months now, (even tho he is totally opposed) and found out we will have to change our bcbs from the ppo to the standard care network, just wondering if anyone else has that plan and what their requirements are. We don't get our info until after the 1st of July, so I can't check. I just hate not knowing!!

anyone with bcbs standard care network?
Shelby Angel replied to Shelby Angel's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sara, thanks for responding! I am not exactly sure what type of plan this is going to be. I was just told it is called Standard Care Network, I believe it is also called Trust. Instead of the PPO we used to have. I am almost hoping my current doc, which I have been seeing for about 9 years will not accept the new plan, which will finally make me find a new one. He did actually prescribe me Merida, which surprised me, so I have lost about 22 lbs in the 9 months. not alot, but I will take it!! -
I have been reading about people who have had gastric bypass, and regain alot of their weight because their pouch stretches. Does this also happen with the lapband, why or why not??? Thanks!

Thanks, Faybie, that answers my question!

My sister is taking Lexapro for IBS (irratible bowel syndrom) She was told it is the only medication that will relieve symptoms. She is dating a surgeon, so I'm sure she discussed it with him also.

I would like to know this also, I have the requirements except the 12 months consecutive supervised. I just can't imagine waiting another year!! -

Hi Mia and Susan! I'm near Pontiac. Susan, my mom and sister live in Rockford, right next door from Sparta!! Nice to 'meet' you both! -
I was all ready to jump in head first and get banded, I fit all the requirements by my insurance, BCBS, (two comorbids). Then find out I need 12 months of documented weight loss. My pcp, even tho he's been treating my for years for weight loss, won't consider that sufficient. I just can't envision waiting an entire year!!! Just wondering if anyone else ran into this? And blowing off a bit of steam!

Shelby Angel replied to Cinnaberry's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was on the opposite side of the room from you,at the front table, I was the one closer to the wall. I had pretty much decided I was gonna go thru with it before the seminar, now, I just want to get the process over, and start shedding some poundage! I'll be watching to see how it's going for you! -

She did mention the support group, but not the fees. But I already knew about that from researcing earlier. -

Hi All, my first time posting after lurking for about a week. I have been thinking and researching lapbanding for awhile now,and I had finally decided this is truly the path I want to take. BUT today I found out my insurance will cover the surgery for a BMI of 40 or greater, mine is (only!) 38. So, my first plan of action is to intentionally gain the addional 10 or so pounds so it will be covered. Does this make any sense to any of you?? Or am I being silly??? I have never been told I'm not fat enough before!!! Thanks for any suggestions.
