Does anyone know how I can find out what surgeons I can use in Missouri or Kansas that are Medicare certified centers for excellence? I found the site for hospital listings, but not one for physicians. Thanks!

Ok I need to give a brief intro first...I had my consult with Dr. Philip Hornbostel in MO July of 2006 and my first appt. was supposed to be Oct. 24, 2006. My father became ill with lung cancer and subsequently passed away during that time so, suffice to say, I did not go to my appt. I talked with Dr. Hornbostel's office staff this morning and they said they quit the Lapband because THEIR patients gained all the weight back plus some! She even went on to give me examples of two clients who were banded two years ago and after initial weightloss are now heavier! :faint: This can not be reality for everyone! I have seen losers on here that are 3 and 4 years out that are as skinny as ever! If you follow the program you should not regain it! Anyway, they offered to schedule me for gastric bypass. No offense to anyone, but I want the BAND NOT BYPASS! I know the bypass is great and lots of you have done super, but it is not for me. So, now what??? He only does bypass. I don't want bypass........I am a Medicare patient so it has to be at a Center of Excellence and he is the only one I know. Can anyone give me any info?? I am flabbergasted! I am willing to travel for my surgery, so if you know of a Medicare approved in your area, please do not hesitate to let me know! I am so disappointed! :think

You both have been so helpful, thank you! I will check obesity help and see if I can find it. I agree with you all , by gosh...If I want the band I am entitled to get it! <humph!> LOL Thanks a ton!! -
Yep, Dr. Hornbostel...he is no longer doing Lapband. But thanks for trying! :nervous

I have a 2002 sporty black Cougar, she is my baby! When I graduate with my Masters in May I want a purple 350 Z (even though we have a lot of nasty weather here, and rear wheels are not my specialty!). If I truly don't like driving it in the snow and ice, I will get a new Eclipse....they are sooooo cute!

Very good point Alexandra! I did not have the courts figure in anything about college, THAT was a BAD idea! There are also school events, functions, fees, uniforms, etc. (that money adds up so fast!) that you should get in a legally approved agreement. It is so hard to think out of the box to the future, but so beneficial! My child support was made to go until my children turned 22 and that has been so helpful with college, I don't know what I would have done with no child support after 18 and both in college! UUGHH Oh, another thing....I did not have anything in about orthodontics, I have now paid $7,000.00 for two kids to get braces! Okay, I am done rambling! lol

Medicare also covers those of us who are disabled, no matter what our age may be.

I might be way off here, but it seems he is being more than fair about dividing assets etc....maybe you shouldn't push it. I was married for 17 years and have two children, my ex made about what yours does and he pays $700 a month and that is for 2 kids and alimony. We divorced 4 years ago, so it has not been too long. The judge ordered $300 per child and $100 for alimony. However, the judge did something that I had never seen and that was a debit/credit ratio (obviously incoming to outgoing). My ex had a high debt ratio (he drives race cars) so that could be why he picked that amount. Anyway, I hope the ramble helped and good luck!

Hey Auto, that story was really interesting, thanks! The last line says that it is not covered by Medicare, is that just there? I know it covers here, so I was just wondering. Thanks again for the info.

He licked his own elbow Kare??? Wow, maybe it only works on adults! I asked everyone I could at class (about 50 people) and none of them could lick the 'ole elbow. Maybe youngsters can . Anyone have a youngster they can ask to try it? I am fresh out! LOL Both of my old kids (college age) can't do it.

HI Susannah, I too have my consult next month (Oct 25) and I also have MS. I was only diagnosed a month ago after some weird numb leg feelings and strange sensations on my face. When I found out the results of my MRI (several areas of myleniation) I was floored, I was never aware of how different the types of MS etc. I wish you luck on the consult, when is yours? I will let you know how mine goes.

I had my Carin Terrier for 17 years after rescuing her from the pound the day they were putting her down! When she died it was a family member that I lost. It is strange that reading these posts still can make me cry and Tanya has been gone for 4 years!! You will never regret the decision to bless your life with a four legged friend and they will never ask for money or the car keys!!! Best of luck and congrats!

I know <sigh> I'm sorry! My sister still lives in Texas (Abilene) and only gives me Cowboys memrobilia for Christmas! She makes me pay every chance she gets! lol -
Hi THelen, I saw that you asked why you had to go to Sedalia for your WLS, the reason is that Medicare only approves WLS at a Center Of Excellence (a distinction the government adheres to)....In our area (I live in Warrensburg) Sedalia is the ONLY center of exc. You can go to Obesityhelp.com and you will see Dr. Hornbostle. His mandatory seminar is on October 3rd at 6pm at Bothwell hospital and his number is (660) 827-0423. I have been to the seminar and I am now waiting on my appt. It takes about 2 months just to get your first appt. after the seminar, so the sooner you get started the better. I went in July and he was scheduling surgeries for December! He seems like a nice guy, just kind of "abrupt" when he speaks....maybe arrogant, I can't quite put a finger on it, and he may be different one on one. He has tons of experience and seems to know what he is doing. I don't have tons of info for you just because I am still waiting. However, he told me himself that Medicare is the EASIEST insurance to get approval through. I am kind of worried about being denied because I am only 34.8 BMI. (Of course, a nervous wait will put me over that! LOL) Anyway, PM me if you need anything! Hope this helps!

I love Tom's post and find him to be very funny at times and interesting at others...but almost always sarcastic! Even if I disagree with him, I have to read it because it makes me laugh. I doubt he came here to take pop shots at Nascar and for whatever reason that he showed up, I was rolling! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Nascar, but I don't have as much time to watch as I would like to. It is kind of like a celebrity roast....they say things that could be considered not very tasteful, but it is all in fun and we get a good laugh. Tom reminds me of that. Okay, just my two cents worth...Now back to a thesis, anyone want to help? It's on conformity and should be good. LOL

When I interviewed for my graduate program in Industrial Organizational Psychology they told me that I should really lose weight if I wanted to be "marketable" in a very "lookism" society. I politely told them that the fact that I graduated with a 4.0 and that I am a member of the All USA Academic team would speak for itself! I was right! Sure, maybe there will be a job someday that I don't get because I am bigger than they want me to be, but when I lose weight will I REALLY want to work there.....NO Thank you. My daughter and I are in the exact same educational boat (same degree, etc.) but she is a size 2, it really has not affected are lives to this point....Well, in work or school anyways! LOL You know, I don't think that was much help! lol I just wanted to say that I am empathetic to what you went through, and it sucks! Patti

This Sunday is the day of the Manning boys head to head game! It will be Eli against Peyton, that should be awesome to watch! I was raised in Texas on the Cowboys and my sister lived next door to "Too tall (Jones) and then Hollywood" (Henderson) in Dallas. I loved Roger Stauback! HOWEVER, now I am in Missouri where I have been for years and I hold allegience to the Kansas City Thiefs, ummmm felons, ooops Chiefs! (You have to have some kind of following to the state you do college in! lol) But good luck! -
OH OH OH, can I please be J. R. ???? I may not be from Dallas, but I was raised in Sweetwater, Tx!!! And besides, I think it is about time we had a female J. R. !! As long as it is not the season where he gets shot! :faint:
