  1. I was at work this morning, all of a sudden it felt like I was stabbed, then I pushed area with my finger & about leaped from my chair. Waited about 5 mins. I started to walk around & the pain was horrible. Started feeling nauseated & got acid reflux. My boss sent me.home now I'm in waiting room at lap band Dr & I'm a nervous wreck.
  2. I am a band over bypass patient. Had surgery 2/15/10. Yesterday 3/18/10 I went to get my first fill. Stood in front of the fluorscopy machine, drank some barium (nasty stuff) watched it run down to my stomach. She sprayed my stomach with freezing spray. stuck that gigantic needle in which thankfully I did not feel a thing. She filled up my band. Then released it all back out. Then she said why isn't it going down any faster than that. I was like huh? LOL She told me to take a deep breathe that did not help. I could see the barium drink in my esophugus and it was releasing into my pouch but very very slowly. So she was saying I had some good restriction and decided not to give me a fill. She said since I am a band over bypass patient there may still be some swelling in there which is casuing the restriction still. Now I have to go back in 2 weeks to try again. I sure the heck hope that nothing is wrong. The Dr. was quite surprised while she had me standing in there going thru this, so when they are surprised that makes me worried..anyone else go thru this type of ordeal ? 3. I go for my 1st fill on 3/18 and am starting to get a little nervous, can someone please explain to me what to expect when I get there and the steps that you go thru to get the fill. Do you feel something inside like it is actually tightening around your stomach? Details are appreciated. Thanks !!
  4. Lapband surgery was 2/15/10 and my sofa recliner has been my bed ever since, sitting on a pillow and a pillow on each side of me to rest my arms on. Last week I laid in bed to test it out and I couldn't lay on my right side, still too uncomfortable. So I told hubby will give it one more week. Last night I tried again and I made it through the night finally. This morning when I went to get out of bed and I when I went to sit up, oh my goodness I had a sharp pain in my port area. Is this ok? It was gone once I started walking around but when it happened it felt bad. Anyone else go through this too ? Robin in Cincinnati, OH

    Hiccups

I know I sure do, that is my warning sign when it's time to stop eating..either that or the slight pain in my chest.
  6. Yes the 30 second pain in the chest is definitely something getting stuck and you never want to take a drink to make it unstuck, that will make it worse...sometimes it might take more than those 30 seconds but it will pass eventually.

    New Band= Constipation

I got banded on 2/15/10 and it was 6 days before I had a bowel movement. I think a lot of it is caused by the pain meds you are on. Once I came off of that no more problems.
  8. Hello everyone, I am 12 days post-op and have not had a fill yet. I was just checking something though to see if anyone would know the answer. I am taking a cruise in July and you know it's all the food you can eat on a cruise but for me of course no way, but in case I ate something that I just could not resist and wanted more of it. Do you think I could get the Dr. to loosen my band up just for the vacation and when I get back have it tightened up again ? I know of course I would gain a few lbs on the cruise becuase of that but then I know I could get it back off again too...what are your thoughts? Robin in Cincinnati, OH
  9. Hi everyone, wow thanks for all of your great responses. to answer a couple of you, yes AI am newly banded and have not had any fills yet so I guess I don't know what all to expect yet, I am only 12 days post op right now. I am just so used to eating so much and when we cruised in April 2008 it was eat, eat, & eat oh and did I say eat...LOL I am sure you all are right when July finally does get here and my pounds have dropped I'll probably not want to get unfilled, it's just so hard to imagine that right now though. I'll just hopefully realize at that time on how this whole thing works and not want to worry about eating anyway...thanks again for the great support. Robin
  10. Hello, My name is Robin and I live in Cincinnati, OH. Dr. Trace Curry performed my lap band surgery on 2/15/10 I also had a hiatal hernia repaired. I think the recovery from the hernia repair is more difficult than the actual lap band, anyone else think that that went thru what I did ? The breathing in heavy hurts so bad and coughing is a killer. Starting to wear off now some, but now most of my pain is now to the right of my belly button maybe up a little bit, feels like a pulling sensation whener I walk and move my right leg when I walk it pulls. I seem to be doing pretty good on my pureed diet with getting in my protein and the right amount of fat & carbs seems to be going pretty well. I am now 6 days out and have lost 9.5 lbs is that normal to lose that much the 1st week ? Thanks for reading and good luck everyone....Robin
  11. Today is my 11th day post-op and tonight as I sit here to watch tv all of a sudden I'll get a sharp pain in my chest that lasts about 5-10 seconds then goes away and comes back maybe anywhere from 5 mins to 30 mins afterwards again. Or if I take a small sip of Water about 3-4 seoncds later it's the same exact pain...Almost like a bad heartburn feeling? Anyone else go thru this, my fear is a slip but I have no idea...it just comes & goes it is not a constant pain. Thanks, Robin
