Have you ever had vomiting with the flu?

Hi guys! I wish I was writing for a better reason, but I got the flu. The one thing they tell you to try and avoid!! ( like you can do that!).....I have been vomiting for the past 24 hours. I actually ended up in the hospital for severe dehydration from loss of ALL my fluids. They tried to do an IV 4 times but I was so dehydrated they couldn't get it. My question to you is have any of you been sick with a GI bug like this to the point of vomiting. I know that vomiting is NOT good when you have the band, and they did take an x-rays of the band and said that it is VERY inflamed from the puking, but I begged them not to take out my saline. I don't want to go weeks with no restriction. So they left it in but told me if I puked anymore I was going to have to get it out. Has anyone had this issue, and what happened? How did your band take it? On top of worrying about the band...the thought of food makes me dry heave....so I am defiantly not getting my nutrition in, but all I can handle is water. Ugh!

    Banded 10/22/2009

Hi Guys!!! I too was banded on 10/22...........I was in surgery for an hour and a half, and I had a bad reaction to the anesthesia and didn't leave the ICU for 2 hours after my surgery, and than I had a very low heart rate. They almost kept me over, but they let me go home later that night. That was my biggest issue.....it is such a big adjustment! I have had one fill and I am up to 6 cc's. I started at 4 cc's after the surgery. I started at 279 pre-op and I am now 236.5 post op!!! WAHOO 43 LBS!!! I feel like after reading other people's blogs that I haven't lost real well, but I guess any weight loss is good!!! I go for my second fill on the 21st of Dec, and I am excited to start to feel some restriction!!! Hope all you OCTOBER BANDSTERS are doing great!!!

    11/19/09 Giggles and Jiggles

That just made my whole day!) Thank you!!!
  6. Hi!!! You look AMAZING!!!! Keep up the great work!!! I am doing good! I am down 38lbs, and hitting the gym about 5 days a week. I am really in a groove with stuff!! I am however getting to that stage where I am SOOOO hungry!!! I know I need a fill...I called and scheduled a fill before I was due. They were going to give me my first one 8 weeks after my surgery. I just can't wait that long. I find that I don't even need to sip my liquid ( a super bad habit I am still trying to break!). So it is on Monday. Right before Thanksgiving, but oh well. I have worked to hard, and gone through to much to worry about not eating turkey on Thanksgiving. How are you doing?? Hope all is well!!!

  7. Hi Leslie! Thanks for the message...it is nice to find people going through the same stages as you are! I am still scared about this stretching the pouch thing! I am only on the "pureed" which is really a modified pureed, for a few more days and than I can move to some more "chunky" stuff! I can eat mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, tuna/chicken salad ( very mushy), scrabbled eggs, cottage cheese, and than all of theliquid/broth stuff from the first 2 weeks! I am so excited to start eating normal stuff. I am just to scared to try stuff. I read so many people on here who have tried stuff before they were supposed to and do fine, but I am a person where I stick to the rules, I walk about 40-60 minutes a day too. I am eager to try something else like the eliptical, but at the same time I am scared to pull or tear something. Did they tell you any major restrictions? I am so glad you found me! Stay in touch so we can keep up with each others success!!!

    Week #2

I am new to this whole blogging thing, and very excited I found this website! Today is my 2 week Anniversary! I was banded on Oct 22nd, and am now down 17lbs since my surgery date, and a total of 32 including pre-op. I am just starting the pureed stage of my diet, and I must say it is easier than I thought it would be. I thought for sure I would feel food get stuck, but I am not. Which is scaring me and I am thinking that I have NO restriction and I am stretching my pouch. Is this normal? I mean I feel full, but there is no difficulties really. Also....what did you guys eat for the pureed stage? I have an "outline" but I need some ideas! I am very excited for my new journey to begin. I won't get my 1st fill till dec 7th, and I am more inflammed than they want me to be, as they said they had to dissect a lot more muscle than they wanted to. So I am still in some discomfort. For the 1st time in my life...I have too much muscle for something! :smile2:. Any advice for the weeks to come would be great! I am going to try and be good and blog often!!! Best of luck to everyone!

    help

I too am 2 weeks out, and just started the pureed diet. I found that I had a hard time too, but than I found out that I just wasnt making it "moist" enough. I am not sure if you are allowed tuna, or chicken but I am, and I make it into a pureed salad with low fat mayo. I also found that I was taking to big of bites, and eating to fast, as I was so used to drinking my meals. Before the surgery my bad points were that I ate to fast and took big bites. So this is something I have a hard time breaking. I found that I put my food now on a small plate, and I use my daughters baby spoon to make sure I take small bites! It worked for me =) Hope you start doing better! Best of luck!
