    what about straws?

My doc also said no to the straws but for a different reason. He says you consume more than you realize and will overload your stomach. Makes sense to me. I only use a straw when I splurge and have an iced coffee from Starbucks. YUM, my only treat.

    Bruising not near an incision?

Yes it was most likely the blood thinner. My nurse told me if I scratched it or touched it at all it would bruise. Needless to say I think I scratched as mine was really blue.
  3. I had my TOM a week after surgery and it was a lot more heavy and painful, now I have cramps occasionally even though my it isn't my time. I also have an IUD, I have my yearly on the 3rd, I am going to ask her. My guess would be the weight loss, surgery, and all of it put together. I take calcium now but it is sooo constipating. I have cut back to 1 a day instead of 2 chews and that seems to make it better.
  4. I was banded July 31st and my first fill is also September 3rd. I am also finding I can eat anything, however my diet has mainly been canned tuna and chicken with miracle whip and wheat thins. I did have a bit or two of pizza it was awesome. I figure 4 bites is better than 4 slices huh? I also had a grilled chicken strip and it went down fine of course I chew each bite atleast 30 times. The strange thing is I had mashed potatoes and gravy today it messed with my stomach. I figured it would go down easier than anything else. But yes, I am hungry and too cannot wait for a fill, It hasn't been too hellish for me yet except during the liquid phase, luckily my doc only keeps you on that for 1 week. Good luck to you all.
  5. I had to be there by 8:00, surgery at 10:00, barium swallow about 1:30 out the door by 2:00. All went very well for me in a short amount of time. Hope this helps.

    Can't burp?

Are you drinking enough water? my doc says that keeps things moving and makes it easier to burp. I was in the same shape as you except gas-x helped a little. I was ok by 1 week post op, it should subside by then.

Approved for Solids at 1 week post op

Yes, I went to my 1 week post op appt yesterday and they told me to boost my protein to 4 shakes a day, increase my water to 64 oz and start eating soft food. I had scrambled eggs for breakfast, I was in heaven! I couldn't imagine being on liquid for more than 1 week, I think I would have caved a little. I agree, I think it is mainly on your progress. I have been fine the last week except for gas which I took care of with gas-x. My emotions are the hardest part, I want to eat when everyone else in the family is. Oh well, I will get over it. I lost 10 lbs this first week I am so excited. I also told my doc what I was eating which included mostly cream soup and they said that is what was making me so tired, not enough protein. Good luck to you.
  8. I had my surgery done at Weight loss Surgical centers and they only have you on liquid for one week. You can then go to pureed for 1 week then mushy. I was banded on July 31st and had a check-up at one week and they told me to go ahead and start adding mushy stuff within the next five days. Wow, I must be really lucky. This pure liquid stuff is horrible. Definately start getting your protein in and drink lots of water they told me that will make you feel better much faster. The water gets things moving and the protein will give you energy. Good luck to you all.
  9. I was banded 5 days ago and have been on an emotional roller coaster today. The discomfort is horrible, I am sure it is gas, but it is only in the left side of my abdomen. UGH, what have I done to myself? I keep trying to think positive but man it is hard when my family gets to eat what they want. I love food, I just don't know if I can make it. Feeling myself again would be wonderful compared to how I am feeling now.
