I see on here that a few have gotten their tummy tucks paid for by insurance. I was wondering if anyone has had BCBS IL (PPO) approve a tummy tuck? Thanks in advance Dore

I was banded about the same time as you (7/30/09). I still count my calories every day so I know where I am. I try to stay at 1200 calories and remember to eat lots of protein. Also, I wear a bodybugg (you can google it if you don't know what it is) so I see where I am as far as steps taken and calories burned. I find it to be motivating. Good Luck.

Should not have read surgery stories. Need reassurance

Don't freak yourself out. I'm with the rest of the posts. I was banded 7/30/09 as an outpatient. I was pretty groggy that day which was a Thursday. Took pain meds as need on Friday. Was up and about on Saturday and Sunday and went back to work on Monday. You will be just fine. Good luck!! -
Natalieg-- You mention that your surgery was on July 29th. I assume of 2010, right? You are doing just fine. I don't think that you are getting enough protein with your Lean Cuisines, however. Water intake along with a high protein diet is key. I was banded July 30th of 2009 and it took my body awhile to get used to the band, the diet, and exercise. The other thing that helps me keep on track is the bodybugg. Quite a few people on this site use it. The bodybugg along with the band is just a tool, but a very useful one. Go easy on yourself and keep on moving and making the correct food choices. You will get there.

I didn't lose any weight and I was accepted. Good luck!

I had my surgery July 30, 2009 and would LOVE to have plastic surgery, but just can't afford it at this point in time. I am very excited for you. Good luck and keep us posted!!

Needing a slight UNFILL BAD!! But scared to gain weight back!!
dlacny replied to claire0823's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Claire-- I was banded in July 09. I've lost 72lbs and have had 4 fills. The last fill was in March 2010 and was way too tight, so I got an unfill the first week in April 2010. Things have been going well until about 10 days ago. I'm not sure why, but all of a sudden I can't get anything down including Water. I ended up meeting my surgeon in the ER last nite to get a slight unfill (again). He took out 1/2 of a cc. I waited for over a week because I kept thinking it was going to get better plus I, like you, feared gaining weight with an unfill, but what happened was that I dehydrated myself. The other posts are so true....it doesn't matter how much is in your band as long as you have restriction. I'm on this site all the time, but rarely post; however, this just happened to me last night and thought I should share. Take care, Dore -
Body Bugg, worth the money?
dlacny replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
jensmallwood -- Go to myapex.com. I've had mine since September and have never paid a monthly fee for the website. In fact I had a problem with my bodybugg a few weeks ago. They replaced it free of charge PLUS added 3 more free months to my subscription. They are a very nice company to deal with. -
Body Bugg, worth the money?
dlacny replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love my Bodybugg. I've had it for about 7 months and use it daily. Well worth the money. I find the data to be very motivational (and fairly accurate). -
Welcome to this board. The Lapband is the greatest thing I ever did for myself. It's not easy, but worth it.

A bit too tight and looking to commiserate...
dlacny replied to ashleysara's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also too tight. I am PBing ALL the time. Here's the thing.....my surgeron just left his practice in Chicago. He referred me to another surgeon in the suburbs which isn't very convenient. I guess the other factor is that because I'm too tight and not able to eat all that much, my weight is really coming off. -
Congrats!!! You are doing so well. Keep up the good work!

is anyone NOT weighing themselves?
dlacny replied to dontgoggilme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm obsessed with weighing myself. I'm going on vacation in two weeks and the scale is coming with me! -
