  1. I guess im on my 4th or 5th fill. I had it done on Tuesday and every time i cannot eat anything for a day or two, just liquids. after a week i am fine eating and after two weeks or so I am back to eating everything I normally can...........I dropped another 6 pounds since tuesdays fill, so I guess thats good.....good luck!!:smile2:
  2. I can eat anything ... and I am!!! I am about 5 weeks past my fill date, I had to cancel my appt.from May. right now I can eat Breads and Rice which I normally cant. I have a fill appt next week. Suprisingly I am down two pounds from last appt, it was more but I gained some of it back in the last few weeeks. Once I get my fill I will stay away from Breads and rice again...
  3. wow catherine you look great,,,I see a big difference in the shape of your face...keep up the good work..... BEBA for me personally(everyone is different) some sort of exercise is a huge boost to your weight loss.. I eat lots of protein and fish just about every day... after the first few months... I now eat whatever I wantmostly good ( and some not so good) I just get fuller a LOT faster,,,the trick is breaking the mind into a new mindset and STOPPING when you are full.....I know get the same full feeling eating a half or 3/4 slice of pizza then I did before the band eating 5 or 6 slices of pizza. Its not like you are NEVER going to eat those foods you loved before ever again....just eat them slowly and enjoy the taste and you will eat less of it because of the band and feeling fuller quicker with less food.... There are no foods I CANNOT ever have again...just go in moderation and try and eat healthier and better selections and treating yourself to a peice of chocolate cake will not kill you... I tried it and ate 4 bites and I was done... I was satisfied with the taste. for me the mindset was my biggest obstacle to hurdle. I had to get thru my mind I didnt NEED 4 slices of pizza ... Im now content on a half of slice or so...the food taste a lot better when you take your time and not woof it down fast....sorry for going on and on...just trying to let you know how Iam dealing/living with it... and it seems to be working for me...
  4. 5 Weeks should be no problem...I was cleared from my doctor to go back to work with no restrictions....I lift heavy packages all day long..I am a UPS driver on a industrial route lifting up to 150 lbs. Moving and twisting all different ways...so you should be fine after 5 weeks....justcheck with doc first...good luck!!
  5. I did it...I hit the one hundred pound weight loss mark.... I lost a total of 104 pounds since October 2nd when I was banded. Hard to believe in only 7 months. I went from a TIGHT 48 inch waist to a 38 inch waist..I am extremely happy, it brings a tear to my eye when i think about it.....my life has definatly changed for the better......thank all of you for your posts and for giving me the motivation to keep on top of it.....keep up the good work and good luck to all...
  6. LOL @ Mango...there is no way you can be serious.....But i can see your sillynessand anyone trying it themselves....:w00t::eek::wink:

    100lbs gone!!

CONGRATS!!!!!! that is so wonderful, I recently hit the 100 pound weight loss......Pretty awesome feeling huh?? keep up the great work.
  8. stay strong and keep positive... when I got banded along with 7 other people they all went home the next morning except me. I had excessive swelling and had to stay in the hospital for 7 days hooked to a IV no food or drink for 6 days...it sucked. The doc stuck me quite a few times then wiggled the needle around to try and find the posr...I was in tears..I had to go down to get xrayed then the tried to xtract fluid from the band... All turned out well now...but I was scared sh*t and all these thoughts wer going thru my head...more surgery, more pain etc etc..you always think the worse......just try and stay motivated and stay on top of your eating....just keep thinking about the end result and all the things you want to do when you loose the weight...ggod luck Carmine
  9. I'm sorry i forgot...I get fills evey six weeks it usually has been 1 cc...next fill is May 4th...thanks
  10. Thank you all for kind words, I hope this is not long winded....To Hking... In the morning I eat a protein/breakfast bar, then for lunch I eat either cottage cheese or turkey and cheese rolled up(cold cuts) about 4 or 5 of them. then for dinner I eat fish most night or egg salad or chicken salad. On occasion i will go get a couple of tacos from taco bell( I can only eat the hard shells, the soft ones still get stuck). I am a UPS driver and I deliver in the industrial area, so I am lifting heavy boxes all day long and I walk about 7-9 miles a day at work(i used a pedometer). when i get home at night I try at least 4 or 5 times a wek to go with wife and walk dogs to the beach about a mile away. I am sure alll the physical exertion at work has a big thing to do with the weight loss. But since the Band I am not really hungry that much. In the begining I tried eating everything too quickly and it kind of turned me off on food. Now after seven months I think I finally got it...eat slowly and take little bites, DONT LET OTHERS RUSH YOU WHEN YOUR EATING!!! go at your own pace.I find when i rush or eat fast you get fuller quicker and then your hungry 10 minutes later. I eat breakfast and lunch alone so its not a problem. dinner is tougher with my wife but she is starting to take her time also wich helps me out. I am extremely happy with the weight loss and when i got banded in October I thought it was a misteak and missing eating all the things I loved were not worth it and I was sorry I got banded. I seriously thought about reversing it, because I didnt think i could do it. But today I am glad I stuck with it. The everyday things like tying your shoes, pulling the plug in the tub, bending down to pick something up with out huffing and puffing, shoveling snow(I did it for 2 hours straight this winter with out getting winded...I could only go for 5 minutes before), just things "normal sized" people do everyday take for granted are so much easier to do now.and clothes....WOW no more tight 3x shirts that I had to stretch out before i put on. XL for me now and there a little loose!. I went from a tight 48 inch waist and now im in a 38 inch waist...it feels good to go to a regular store and buy clothes..... Sorry for going on and on...but i feel great and wished I did this years ago! good luck to everyone and thanks again for the great posts that kept me motivated and helped me out when I had my doubts.....Carmine:thumbup::eek:
  11. hey Tiffany I am back on the site again after i lost the site(computer problems and i couldnt find the site) but anyway how is it going??? how is the weight loss? getting your fills? I just hit the 100 pound weight loss mark...im psyched about it...hope to hear from you....carmine

  12. I like the idea of the clothing exchange...I have Brand new shirts and pants I never wore with tags still on them....and if someone can use them thats great...I will look into that at my doctors office...thanks
  13. I also had facial surgery( a cut facial nerve in my cheek-the doctor did it to me) so I could not chew anything for 2 weeks or so. just eating soups and shakes. I lost quite a bit of weight in that time alone.... I walk the dogs every night about a mile. and try to go to the mall or stores ....it keeps me walking and stops me from sitting around and watching TV.... now im down to more realistic weight loss about 3-5 pounds a week now....I will try and get on here more often to check posts.....good luck and if you need anything let me know how I can help................. for me the BIG key was to have a protein shake when I was hungry inbetween...that filled me up and I even added peanut butter to the shake for xtra protein and better taste

  14. sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I was in the hospital......Yeah i lost 73 pounds to date... The first week after the lap band surgery I had excess swelling and was in the hospital for 6 days hooked up to a IV. I lost 15 pounds that week not eating or drinking anything just the IV,,,,it was horrible. I was eating 4 oz of cottage cheese or 1 packet of otameal for breakfast for lunch I was eating 1 packet of tuna fish about 5 oz with some mayo or egg salad( about 2 eggs with mayo) for dinner I was eating the Perdue short cuts chicken 9.5 oz i was eating half a pkg chopped with mayo. or apple sauce or a quart of won ton soup ..just the broth(my favorite I can eat this everyday) and I was doing about 2 or 3 Unjury shakes with skim plus chocolate milk when I got hungry in between.

  15. hi everyone I was banded on Oct 2nd 2009. I like everyone else had shoulder pain after surgery and I keep hearing everyone talk about how its from gas.... when I went to my follow up doctors appt. That was the first question he asked me ...if I had shoulder pain. I said Yes and he said it was from the surgery and the muscle is sore somehow all conected blah blah.... was I the only one who was told it was NOT pain in my shoulder from gas????........ sorry I know its after the fact, but its kinda bugging me.

    Shoulder pain???

thanks for the reply ....I didnt believe I was the only one not buying the gas pains, I thought there had to be more to it....although I do believe some people have gas pains I knew mine wasnt from the gas pain in my shoulder

    Banned 11/25 and ouch

iceprincessv8... I was banded 8 weeks ago. and the pain was awfull, I was in hospital an xtra 5 days due to too much swellen and my band not being open cause of it. I thought I was gonna die... hang in there the pain will go away, even though it feels like it never will. I doubted my choice of having the band while laying in the hospital bed, but now 8 weeks and 67 pounds later...I feel great and can do the little things like picking up things on the floor, tie my shoes without gasping for air and I can even take the dogs for a walk more than 3 houses down....hang tough and think about the end result!!

    Alcohol?

I was banded about 8 weeks ago and I had my first beer in about 3 months took me about 30 minutes to drink it...i sipped it slowly and enjoyed it then I was kinda bloated after I was done...but I got the taste out of my mind after I had It.... I guess no more downing a case of beer on a good day... those days are looooong gone...
  19. thank you all you kinda get that motivation factor kicking in high gear when something like the 2++ kicks in...... I had a lot of swelling after my band was done so i was in the hospital for 6 days hooked to just a IV...no foods or liquids for 6 days..I lost about 15 lbs during that stay.I guess it was a good "jump start" to my weight loss..lol
  20. hi all I got banded on Oct 2nd 2009. I am doing Very good loosing weight like crazy. And yesterday I was weighed at my first fill the 6 week markand.... I finally saw the 2 in front of my weight not that ugly 3... I was 296 lbs. the first time I broke the 300 mark in over 3 years!!!! It brought a tear to my eyes when i was on the scale... all it takes is a moment like that to get me ultra motivated and thinking that it all was worth it.....
  21. Ty all...hey Moxi banded 2 days ago??/ congrats! how you doing? holding down liquids down ok? I had a horrible 1st week with swelling and not able to hold down liquuids..... but thank god everything is well now and I am very happy i did it.....good luck!!!
  22. I took my wife out today for dinner for first time in 4 weeks( we used to go out 2-3 times a weeK) since I was banded on October 2nd. She had pasta & salad and I had soup. total bill was $19 and change...that was the first time in my life I ever did a dinner for two under $20. No two appetizers xtra bread two desserts no 4 or 5 drinks..normally it would be about $60 or so. I had a bowl of soup and the waiter brought me another one(its all you can eat soup) I made it thru about half way on 2nd bowl then I stopped= tank full. I am looking foward to the future when we(I) can OCCASIONALLY go for dinner and eat like "normal" people. was a big step and I wasn't sure I could be around all that food and not try it......I went in with the mindset of what I wanted, and wife told me not to even look at the menu...it worked I was perfectly sastified with the soup and it filled me up....
  23. soup you can play with and make it last....I agree with you on that....my only problem is that My wife felt like she had to hurry up and eat.....I told her to chew slowly---25 chews per bite + and put your fork down between bites + make that olive last a half a hour.....LOL
  24. I had that same pain....but it was not from gas... when i went to follow up visit the doc asked me if i was having any pain in my shoulder area...I said yes I thought it was the way i was sleeping or sitting...he told me it has to do with the muscle and the operation. he said it would go away in a few days I took some asprin and it helped a little the pain would come and go.....ask your doctor about it it was kinda weird him asking me first and saying a lot of patients have it after the surgery and its about the muscle and the surgery something or other....BUT it definatly not was from gas!!! at least for me...hope this helps
  25. hi all its been 10 days since Ive been banded. I had a lot of swelling the first week but now its gone down and I can take fluids and mush no problem. Had regrets days after the banding... but once you see the weight comming off it takes the doubt away........good luck to all.
