    "Lazy"

I guess that makes since. I'm not out to win or anything I just want to keep the motivation going and be held accountable by having to weigh in every week.

    3 weeks post-op, feeling good

I'm on day 12 post op I believe and doing well. Down 14 since the surgery but I'm still so swollen that my pants are loose yet. food wise I can tell when I've overdone it because I just feel like something is pushing on my chest. Now that I'm getting more Protein I'm not starving all the time like I had been. I have to say this past weekend was hard. I didn't eat as good as I should have but unlike most times I've tried to diet I hoped right back on the 'wagon'. I didn't do horrible or anything I just know I could have done better. We BBQ'd on Sunday and I made myself a turkey burger for the first time. I could only eat half of it with no bun but it was good. It was hard not to have a beer or wine with all the others though... sigh... Incisions look great and the NP said I could take the strips off but I'm too chicken. I can't find adhesive remover to get the stupid bandage strips off either and scrubbing in the shower is not doing jack crap. :frown:

    "Lazy"

I wanted to join the weight loss challange at work and the ONE person I told at work said that would be cheating if I joined. Um, I still have to DO the work, eat well, exercise, etc. Do any of you think it's cheating if I join the weight loss challange?
  4. How many calories are you taking in on your liquid diet? I'm finding it hard to consume that many and I'm weak at work so I need to find something that is good in calories and Protein. What is everyone else's 'sample' liquid diet? I have cream of wheat for Breakfast sugar free Jello for snack low fat cream Soup for lunch broth for dinner popscicle for snack

    How many Calories? Protein?

I went to GNC last night and bought Milk Muscle Light chocolate flavor. I am sipping on it now and it's not too bad. It has 25g of Protein so I'm going to try and drink one a day. It's got 195 cal and 6g fat. I also bought some Isopur with 15g so I'll have one of those as well (it has around the same amount of Cal but no fat at least). That right there is 40g of protein. Add the hard boiled egg I am eating for breakfast and my foods and I should be close to the 60g a day!

Sharp pains in the rib area??

I don't have an answer but I also have that rib pain on my port side. I told DH the other day that I felt like I had a broken rib. I'm only 10 days post op so I was just figuring it was that it hasn't been long enough for me???

    Sex three weeks out

I'm glad I read this, I'm 10 days post op and was thinking about it. Now I think I'll wait a bit longer..
  8. It all depends on what your doc. says. I can tell mine is way more aggressive with going through the phases, which scares me some, but I'm following his phases. I was on clear liquids for 2 days post op, then full liquids for the remainder of the week (which included cream of wheat/jello/pudding) and then pureed for only three days and then on to mushies.

    How many Calories? Protein?

Joan, Thanks I actually am going to go to the store on my way home and get some more. Thanks!

    anyone eat fast food yet?

I was out at football games for my kids from 8am until 2pm so I was starving and went through Taco Bell and got a low fat bean burrito (fresca they call it I believe). I chewed the heck out of it and everything was ok. I squish most of the insides out anyway (it drives my DH insane) so it wasn't too much for me either.

    Complication

I'm so sorry to hear that but glad you are feeling better. My sister got a staff infection after her gastric bypass and had that big open wound that my poor husband had to pack because I was too quezy to do.

    How many Calories? Protein?

Yeah, they go through the phases pretty quickly. I'm on mushies already and only post op 10 days. I haven't had any problems with anything I've eaten either. (eating spagatti o's right now) I might try the isopure powder. I like the regular isopure drink.

    anyone still have swelling???

I'm 10 days post op and still swollen, no infections but I am swollen were the port is still. It's starting to go down but now looking lopsided a bit because it's so much more swollen were the port is.

    August Bios

I just now found this sub-forum. My name is Dawn and I was banded on Aug. 21st. I have three boys and a wondeful DH. I actually grew up thin, and played every sport there was. Now at age 30 and three kids later I've slacked on the working out, and began eating more and more. I've been obese for around 6 years (after a divorce). I'm ready to get this weight off for good! I'm post op day four and back at the office. Feeling pretty good throughout the entire process so far and hoping it remains that way. My first follow up is this Friday.

    Is this normal?

We had surgery the same day. I'm sorry your not feeling well. I've been walking a lot and drinking plenty of water. I found sucking on popsicles has helped a lot too.
  21. I'm banded!!! I had my surgery yesterday and all went better than I had hoped. I had to be there at 9:15 and my surgery was scheduled for 11:30. The had trouble with my IV, but then again they always do. I sat and watched tv for a couple hours after that since the Dr. was a little behind schedule. I went into surgery around 12:30pm and was out around 2pm. When I woke up I remember my legs being really restless and feeling some pain. They gave me morphin, which helped a ton, and then they gave me some anxiety meds for my restless legs. Once I got back to my room I felt pretty good. I was up and walking within an hour, went to the bathroom, ate a popsicle and was out of the surgery center by 5pm. The Dr.did have to fix a hernia in me, which kind of surprised me. I was honestly expecting more pain than I have had (knock on wood). I just had a c-section five months ago and this was nothing compared to that at least. I've been walking a ton, my sister, mother, and husband have been rubbing my shoulders to help with the gas pain and that has helped a great deal. We drove back home today, it's a four hour drive but we stopped a couple times so I could walk around and I still feel pretty good. So far I'm not hungry, I've been eating broth, Jello and sugar free popsicles and that seems to be enough for now. I've been drinking a ton and I don't feel any restriction. I thought I'd feel 'some' and only be able to sip Water but I can drink like normal?

    Holy Crap!!!

Mine is tomorrow as well! Good luck to all!

    Getting banded on 8-19-09

Good luck! You've already gotten a great start. I'm on the 21st, can't wait!
  24. I'm driving from St. Louis to Kansas City for the surgery. It's scheduled for a friday. My Mom lives in KC so we're staying with her and can stay all weekend if needed, however, my husband really wants to get back Saturday night for a very close friends 40th b-day party. He understands that if I'm not up to we won't make the 4 hour drive back just yet though. How did you guys feel? Do you think it will be ok to drive back the day after? We have a mini van so I'll have plenty of room? TIA
  25. I just wanted to introduce myself. I've been thinking about lapband for quite a while and finally went to my consult on Monday. After convincing my husband to let me have the surgery I have my pre-op scheduled for tomorrow! We're paying ourselves (16,900...ouch) so I'm a little nervous about that. I was wondering how long other self pays took to go through the whole process? I also have a 5 month old, will I be able to lift him soon after surgery? (I ask because my sister had bypass surgery and couldn't for two weeks, I realize this is isn't as extreme but was curious) For all of you, what did you find the hardess part of the entire process? pain? not eating? etc.? Did you tell people you knew? I'm kind of torn as to if I should tell work? I'm scared to tell my mother because my sister had horrible problems with her bypass (she just had hers redone again due to problems). Thanks, Dawn
