Hey guys.. just wanted to know if there is anyone out there getting the VSG thru Kaiser Permanente in the Bay area? Also.. whose your doctor? Why did you pick VSG? I had my case manager appointment yesterday and my Surgery date is on February 15th. I'm excited! I wanted to know if anyone had this surgery done .. how long did you take off from work? What is the recovery period? What should I expect in the first 2 days after surgery?? Thanks~ Analynn

Dr. Park was EXCELLENT- Very clear about everything, answered ALL my questions, very straight and to the point. I know that she's one of the TOP doctor's there in Richmond for this specific surgery, I read up on her credentials all on Kp.org.. It gave me peace of mind "knowing" i was in professional, safe, good hands

Hi Everyone, Well I had my surgery on February 15th I weighed in at 182 the next day going home I was down to 176! Its been about 2 months now and my current weight is 153. I've learned the hard way that chewing your food SLOWLY is very important.. I'm wondering how everyone else's surgery went? And how are you doing now? I did go thru depression right after the surgery.. but after a couple weeks out and then regaining my energy levels back up.. I started feeling better about everything. I feel soooo much lighter and happier now, I recently started jogging, I went back to Hula and Kickboxing, and I'm pretty much aiming by June I weigh in around the 130"s.. My goal.. 125 or 120 we'll see. Well I hope everyone is doing good I'd love to hear updates... and tips!

As like everyone on here said.. I'm sorry about what you are going thru.. and I can RELATE IMMENSELY. But I want you to know there is HOPE and give your body TIME to adjust. TIME is a big major factor here as well. I had my surgery on Feb. 15th. I too had the same expereience of dry heaving, throwing up foam, barely can breath, the feeling of being intoxicated but you have no control, scared to eat or drink anything. the burning acidic feeling.. Everything you explained I went thru during the first month after surgery. I even went thru Depression.. wondering if this was the right thing I did? And YES for me.. it IS. BUT.. I learned aside from my sleeve acting up.. it was all in me. I started reading my binder again. (Kaiser patients receive a VSG bible prior before surgery to prepare yourself) My conclusion? This is a life style change. I wasn't sipping my water like I should. I was drinking like I normally do. The food I was consuming was either too fatty, oily, sugary.. and of course this was is a BIG NO NO.. So I readjusted. I started eating SLOWER. Making sure I take 30 bites or more and also Sipping slowly helped me BIG TIME. After eating any meal I MAKE MYSELF either walk or stand because it helps me digest better for some reason. I hope this helps.. I know it sounds really like basic. BUT in reality by mastering eating slowly and sipping on your drink really reduces those symptoms you're going thru.. also.. I think because you just recently had surgery.. your body is still re-adjusting.Take time, watch yourself and how you might be consuming your drink and food intake. Give yourself TIME..it will workout. I hope this helps.

I went thru Kaiser Richmond but I had Dr. Park. I only have GOOD THINGS TO say about her. One thing about Kaiser Richmond- They are NOTORIOUS for the GASTRIC Bypass surgery, ( positive manner) From Lap Bands, to the VSG Kaiser Richmond is the BEST. All the Dr.'s in the Bariatric department at Kaiser are all pretty good.. I haven't heard anything bad about any of the Dr's there. Good Luck!

Congrats on your weight loss!! I am also 4 weeks post op. I started at 182 and now i'm down to 158!! As far as your co-worker goes.. you already got it.. KARMA will get her... also, She sounds like she's "hating" on you... another term for Jealousy. I had an incident with my older sis. She has always been the skinny pretty smart one in our family.. I've always been the black sheep .. LITERALLY. Anyways, I went to visit her last week and her 17 yr old daughter was AMAZED how skinny and diffrent I'm looking.. my niece only had wonderful compliments for me... Then my sister came down and said... "You're still fat....What, Your not skinny yet so don't even bother to ask if you can borrow clothes!" Her daughter and I were totally shocked at her negative reaction towards me...but I kept it cool.. kinda laughed it off... but deep inside. I kinda got the feeling that she was irritated with Everyone in our family talking about how great I look. So I told myself she's just hating.. and I shouldn't play into her negativity. I've been blessed with this new life- I'm not gonna let anything get me down Well just wanted to share my thoughts, again 100lbs is AWESOME!! YOU GO GIRL!! AND KEEP YA HEAD UP

Thank you everyone for all your replies.. they helped me out. I'm having my surgery done at Kaiser Richmond with Dr. Park. I was actually scheduled to have this surgery last year.. but because of personal issues, it was delayed.. I had my casemanager appointment on Wednesday and now I'm set! I have one appointment for my final physical and then a class... I've been waiting for this surgery for a LONG TIME.. and after one of my very good friends got the band and after seeing all the complications shes having with it.. I too decided VSG is the way to go for me. Actually when I spoke to my casemanager she told me i was more on the smaller side and Lap Band would be ideal for someone my size.. but she DOES NOT recommend it due to all the problems they've been having with it. Well..its Friday.. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi Everyone, I'm new to this forum. I was originally suppose to get the Lapband but for awhile my heart wasn't in it.. just due to the fact of having a "port" I didn't want it. Anyways.. my final decision is the VSG!!! my surgery date is Scheduled for June 16th which is in exactly 3 weeks.. i'm excited and nervous!! My highest weight was between 220-235 That was about 2 years ago.. I didn't decide to have the surgery until about a year ago.. of course I had to lose weight to have this surgery(KAISER PERMANENTE RULES) and soo now i'm down to 187 it fluctuates between that and 190.. Well if anyone has any good advice.. please share!!:wink0:

congrats!!! My surgery date is on the 16th! I have no 2nd thoughts.. just nervous...

Thank you EVERYONE!! i'm on count down I have exactly 2 and a half more weeks to go.. I have one more Dr. appointment/class this week i'm starting to get nervous inside but I'm also SOOO excited.
