Hello, I had my consultation on Friday and I was denied by my insurance. I have HUC POS plan. I have many problems caused by obesity and I called UHC to see what I can do. The woman I spoke to said I can send them a bunch of information about my problems so they can determine if it's medically necessary. So far I have about 5 different doctors I can get records from. Wish me luck, I am super depressed about this. When I found out I wasn't accepted and had no one who would finance for me I came home and cried while eating a cheeseburger lol. Thanks for the support, you guys are the best. :faint:

Hello, I have looked everywhere for an insurance appeal form. I was denied coverage for the Lapband and I am going to appeal it. I just don't know the right kind of page/form to send in with all of my records. I have tried obesityhelp.com and some other sites with no luck. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Thanks Myra, I will have to look around for my fiance's book of benefits. I have found all the numbers of the 6 places/doctors I need to contact so hopefully I can get the info back soon. Thanks for the support, I am indeed screaming in frustration too. I will read your post, thank you

I never went to see the surgeon but I went in to talk to the woman from the hospital where it is done, who sets the process up. They called to see if I was able to be covered by my insurance and they said I was excluded but I can send in paperwork from my doctors and their staff of nurses will see if it's medically necessary.

I always remembered something I heard a long time ago. "I may be fat but I can do something about that, you need to have plastic surgery to fix your face" always gets them.

I love Lane Bryant, If it weren't for them I would have nothing to wear. My sister used to work at one and always told me when they had sales and things like that :scared: There is one bra from there with the netted flower print that they discontinued :cry Oh well -
How are you supposed to wear a pad if they don't let you wear any undies? When I had my tonsils out they told me to strip down and I still wore my undies in. I am a shy person

Baby Food During Mushies Stage?
kittylover replied to ItsGottaGo!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I like carrots and sweet potato baby food. The custard is pretty good too. Adding a little salt does help. -
Congrats, I am happy for you I also have UHC (POS plan) I go in tomorrow for my first consultation and I really hope I am approved~!

I am on it now but not banded. I haven't noticed any real problems with it (yet) but then again I am on it almost a month now.

You could technically report her to your insurance. It could be considered discrimination for her comments and actions. There is such thing as people hating themselves and anyone like them (IE: Weight Problem, Race, Sex, Etc) I know with my insurance they told me if I have any problems with any doctor to call them.

Or it could be one of those kinds of people who like starting arguments because it makes them happy. -
Weight-loss surgery proves fatal for driver

Yep. My sister had sleep apnea and had her tonsils out when she was about 15 or so with normal surgery. When I was 21 I snored ALOT and I would stop breathing in my sleep, and be so tired I could fall asleep anywhere, even at work. My PCP decided I should get my tonsils out and I haven't had a problem since. My sister and I are both overweight and both had it. Here is a link I found. http://www.doctorhoffman.com/ta.htm -
If you like the taste of protein powder (which I do in milk based drinks like fruit smoothies) I like Puritan Pride's powder. They can be bought online and shipped to you. I haven't tried unflavored yet, I am still waiting to find out about being banded.

Normally with sleep apnea, your mind jolts your body so you can start breathing again but not normally enough to even wake you up. I had my tonsils out to correct my sleep apnea and I am fine now. My father was on the mask and it didn't help him much at all and he decided to go and get his tonsils out as well and is now fine also. -

Most people get "Fluid retention" or "Water retention" during their periods. It causes them to gain a few pounds that goes away. You could mean Edema maybe? -
I have my first consultation on Friday. The lady I spoke to told me I should write down any questions I have and I mentioned I have been visiting a Lap Band support site. She mentioned something about 50 pounds and lap band but I didn't quite catch it. Maybe there is a certian weight requirement for getting the lap band and if I don't meet those they will recommend gastric bypass? Does anyone have any idea what she could have meant? I refuse to do the gastric, I want something reverseable and less risky. I need to lose 140 pounds.

So...I am going for my consultation.

I called 2 days ago and they called me the day after I faxed in my paperwork and I was amazed at how quick they are getting me in. I am a slow loser too, lost only 24 pounds on WW over 2 years. Weight runs in my family though =/ -

Thank you for replying I am excited to change my life. I am 275 so I don't think I am underweight for the lap band. Let's hope not, I don't plan on going that route. Congrats on your consultation I wish you luck on your journey as well.
