Taking Suggestions for NEW LBT Features!
kittylover replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
I think the clothes exchange is a really cool idea. I would like to see a place for future lap banders or people wanting to know about lap band info and questions for people to look at that aren't normally explained in other areas since most people are banded already. -
I would agree with walking, just make sure you have good shoes so you don't add pressure to your lower back.

Ok thank you for replying. I saw someone say they had a supervised diet at a hospital and was worried I would have to literally stay in one Thanks

I am just curious if I have to go somewhere for 16 weeks or can I go home? I have no idea what they do during this.

Welcome to the site. I have my first consultation on Friday. I have found alot of good topics on this forum and it's helped me understand what to expect with the band. I am curious though on how the supervised weight loss before banding goes. There are alot of wonderful people on this site and are willing to answer any questions they can.

Anyone know? lol

I haven't told my mom I am finding info/going for a consultation. Once she said "I'm not letting you have any surgery crap." she is highly against surgery. If I get a band date I will tell her then.

I would have to agree. My boyfriend is supportive and will continue to support anything I want to do if it makes me happy.

You are lucky Leila lol

I heard that just drinking lemon in your water/tea will help aid in weight loss. I have never heard of the syrup, I will have to check it out. :huggie:

I like all of the different choices you can pick and can still eat out and be healthy.

Cheating..No, not with food!
kittylover replied to kimalicious's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It's not bothering me at all. If you look at some of the replies though there are people bothered by it. I think this topic was meant to be a serious question/answer? -
I'm sorry to hear you are going through this as if overweight people don't deal with enough problems from strangers but to deal with it from family is just something to add to the burden. My brother has called both my sister and I fat and we don't talk to him anymore due to his words and actions towards us. To him his current fling is more important then blood. Have you tried telling your brothers how you feel and that it hurts you? Do they know that their words will rub off on your children if they talk bad to you in front of them? Time for them to grow up and be good brothers. Just remember you have a loving and caring hubby at home and your two beautiful children who love you also. Goodluck on your surgery, you are on the right track :clap2:

I love WW. Doing that alone didn't help me much so I can't wait to see how it does when/if I get the band.

I was on Cymbalta, I noticed I got headaches on it and it seemed to make my heart beat faster. Other then that it worked for me. Lexapro had a high chance of sexual side effects for me. I wanted nothing to do with it

Other things to try: Split pea Soup You can find the recipe on the back of dry split pea bags. Just remember to put the ham in the blender or take it out. Mashed sweet potatoes They sell premade in the store or make them just like mashed potatoes and add salt and butter or splenda/splenda brown sugar mix. Oatmeal/Cream of wheat[/] There are many different kinds now. Bean and Bacon Soup (Home Made) INGREDIENTS: 2-1/2 cups dried navy Beans 3 quarts Water 8 slices bacon 3 onions, chopped 2 cups diced, peeled potatoes 1 cup sliced carrots 28 oz. can tomato juice 2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 1 bay leaf PREPARATION: Combine beans and 3 quarts water in large pot. Bring to a boil and boil for 2 minutes. Cover and let stand for 1 hour. Meanwhile, cook bacon until crisp in large stock pot. Remove bacon to paper towels to drain and crumble. Add chopped onions to bacon drippings. Cook and stir until onions are tender. Add partially cooked beans and cooking liquid. Cover and cook over low heat for 1 hour. Add remaining ingredients including reserved bacon pieces. Cover and simmer for 50-55 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beans are tender and soup is slightly thickened. Remove bay leaf before serving. Crockpot Directions: Precook beans, bacon, and onion as directed above (this step is necessary because otherwise the beans would never get tender because of the acid in the tomatoes). Combine all ingredients in 4 quart crockpot. Cover and cook 10-12 hours on low. Remove bay leaf before serving. 12 servings You can also mash up the beans and potatoes so they go down easier.

Cheesy Mashed Potatoes Cook the amount of potatoes you would like, if you want to make a whole pot and save the rest use a bag full of white and red potatoes (enough of one kind or mixed kinds of potatoes to fill a pot). Can also try to add other kinds if you wish. Cook and mash. Add one can carnation evaporated milk, salt to taste and butter to taste. The carnation milk makes it creamier. Then you can add low fat velveeta cheese or any kind of cheese you would like. This is also good to make skinless loaded potatoes.

I know one thing, IF/When I get my surgery date I am going to ask them to make sure I am under.

I think she meant in the discriminatory state. That is how I saw it at least. If it weren't for places like Lane Bryant clothing stores, I would have nothing to wear =/

I guess big people are more of an open target since people can clearly see we have a problem. There is no way to "hide" from people. People can hide alcoholism and drug abuse and many other things, but we are just out there. It still doesn't make it right. I wish people knew what it felt like. Once I went to a party of people I didn't know and I wore a bathing suit. I had a cover up on but some guy walked past me and said "omg what is that?" and it didn't feel too good. Him and the rest of his groupie friends sat there making fun of me for about an hour until I asked my boyfriend for us to leave.

kittylover replied to Hedwig's topic in The Gals' Room
Hi Hedwig, I have never had that happen before but I wanted to give you a reply. By law hospitals are supposed to treat you even if you don't have insurance. I would recommend going and getting checked to make sure something isn't seriously wrong. -
I am just curious as to how many of you have or have had ovarian cysts? I thought I had PCOS since I had alot of the symptoms but my OB/GYN said they treat it with birth control which I was going on anyway. I heard that cysts are one of the comorbidities.
