I visited my PCM on July 23, 2009.  I was a nervous wreck.  My heart was racing, I kept going over in my head what I would tell him to ensure that he would recommend my lap band surgery.  I had my blood pressure/temp taken by the medic and he asked me the reason I was seeing the doctor.  I explained to him that I was considering having the lap band done. He asked if I had spoken to him about it prior to this visit.  I said no, and had this sinking feeling that I would be denied. The medic walked me to the exam room and informed me the Doc would be in shortly.  I sat there thinking I was doomed.  I have tried for so many years to lose this weight.  The Yo-Yo effect of dieting had left me feeling out of control.  I so desperately wanted the Lap Band, to finally be on my way to a healthy weight.  My mind was envisioning myself making it through my day without the aches and pains of normal daily activities.  I was just tired!  My Doctor entered the room, and before I could get a word out, he said so want the Lap Band...GREAT.  I highly recommend it for you, and I will make the recommendation to the insurance.  I walked out of that office that day with such new hope for myself.  I could not stop smiling all day. Within a day, I was approved!  I met with the surgeon on the 3rd of August and am happy to say I am getting all the appointments taken care of before the surgery is performed!  This is the one of the best things that has ever happened to me!
