After shattering my knee in 2000, I began to put on a great deal of weight. I spent three months bedridden and was in a wheelchair and on crutches for three years. After I received a total knee in 2004, I had hoped I could become more active and lose the weight that I had gained, but it was very difficult. I tried everything and then had a total hysterectomy, which caused me to gain even more weight. Nothing seemed to work except one diet--The Sonoma Diet. I did well on this diet and lost 45 lbs., but as soon as I quit watching what I ate, I gained it all back plus some! A few months ago, my doctor diagnosed me with CHF. This was very frightening for me because I have a strong family history of heart disease. My uncle had recently undergone lap band surgery and was doing fabulously! I contacted his doctor, Dr. Coirin, and immediately set up an appointment. My surgery was on July 29, 2009, and except for a great deal of belching from the gas, I am doing quite well!
