Hello, my name is Brenda. I'm a 38 year old married mother of 3. I have been heavy for most of my adult life tipping the scales over 250. In April 2007, my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 breat cancer. In July 2007, I suffered a brain hermorrage from what is now being called an aneurysm that burst. Although, heavy I did not and still do not suffer from ailments as a result of my weight. My bleed was a fluke. My mom on the other hand, didn't survive her illness and she passed away May 31, 2009. She was always worried about me. She wanted me to be healthy and be around for my children. So I decided to research some of the weight loss programs, which eventually brought me to the lap band. The decision to do this had to be mine primarily. I realize that this will be a life time committment and I very ready to change. I want to run and play with my children, go to water parks, wear a bathing suit, buy clothes, wear heels and improve my relationship with my husband of 16 years. I'm tired of taking the backseat in life. My first appt. is on Monday, Aug. 3rd. I already know, my insurance will cover this procedure since the doctors office received preliminary approval. I want to begin my journey before the end of September.
