this is my lapband story!  i was of normal weight as a child and through my teens. when i was 19 i had my son and had pre-eclampsia and packed on weight. i exercised and lost it all. but then at 22 i went through a divorce and in one year i went from 150 to 200. at 23 i married again and had 2 girls both with pre-eclampsia problems and topped at 250. in the last 10 years i've developed hypertension that is hard to control,sleep apnea, an arrythmia disorder,gerd,and joint pain in my knee. not to mention the weight of my breasts from a 'c' to a 'dd', that i am sure causes my back pain.in sept.'09 my husband and i adopted a 2 yr. old girl we had fostered since she was 2 months old. it was then that i realized all the weight loss attempts that had never got me to a healthy weight. i needed to get healthy to live and raise all my children! it was no longer only a vanity wish anymore, it was absolutely to live again and keep on living. to set an example to my kids and teach them to excercise and eat for living. and also that when you need help with any problem you have that you can't get through on your own, you go get help! i have been approved for lap band because i have a bmi of 35 and comorbidities. i am so anxious. i have 18 days till my surgery. i have a hiatal hernia that has to be repaired during my lap band surgery. i was wondering if anyone has had the dual surgery and wanted input on the recovery. i have been reading your blogs for months and thought i needed some support as all my heavy best friends have simply abandoned me! no support there! well, thanks for reading this i know it sounds like almost every story i've read from bandsters but i think 'banding' together seems to help! lisa6
