Weight has always been an issue, my mother is currently obese and has been for over 20 years. She manages, but has a variety of medical problems such as back and knee pain. As a child I did not have any weight problems until I reached puberty. In both middle school and high school I struggled with my weight, being teased, boys didn't like me, and I was jealous of all the other girls cause I couldn't look like them. Then in my Sophomore year I became more physically active, as I attended school, I participated in sports, and worked a part time job, and the weight just melted off, but I could still see a glimpse of the "fat kid" in my head when I looked in the mirror. I still complained of being fat, self conscience of myself, and now looking back and knowing that was my lowest weight of 150lbs, (I carry my weight very well) I think to myself " What was I thinking?" After graduation, I had formed an ovarian cyst on my right ovary, my cycles became more and more irregular and my weight started packing on. I had my child at the age of 20 and weighing in at 180lbs and over the next 7 years I had gained an additional 80lbs. My current weight is 260lbs, I have been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and sleep apnea, and started consulting about the lapband in May. As of now I am currently on my 2 week pre op diet with a scheduled surgery for August 12th. I will keep my status updated, so until then words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.
