  1. I received a call, too. I was able to get follow-up tests the next day, Friday. They turned out okay. I had a normal nodule on my lung. Thanks to a staff member, I found out the tests results Friday, they even called backed at 9PM Friday night to make sure I was okay and had the results. I thought I would have to wait until Monday, with surgery scheduled Wednesday. I'm hoping you keep your band date, and I'm anxious for the news! Anita

    September 2009 Band Date

It's good to read how everyone is doing. I wonder about the hernias, too. I think all pre-ops have upper GIs at my center. I would think that test would detect the hernia. I knew before that I had a hiatal hernia, from an endoscopy in 2003. The Dr. said that test was too old to be relevant. I've been checking on how many of us September bandsters are 50+ years of age. There are at least 15 of us. I know there are more, I just need to go back and find you! Wishing you all a great band experience. Anita
  3. The mouth spray lubricates your mouth, which can be dry after surgery.

    September Surgery

September 2009 Band Date There is a list here of who is having bands on what date. Check here to see how we are doing, pre and post-op. Welcome to the September bandsters! I have a post of what I took to the hospital to be banded, I think post # 258. The greatest thing to have- Biotene ® Mouth Spray I also really greased my lips before surgery, and the lipchap was still there after surgery. The best thing you can do is research, read, and read some more. It looks like you are doing the research. Wishing you a good band day! Anita
  7. September 2009 Band Date Hi kristik99, this is the post where most us us 09/09 bandsters are. My band day was no problem, even though I was expecting many! The one item that helped me, besides the typical lipchap, etc, was Biotene ® Mouth Spray I found it at my local grocery in the mouthwash section. Wishing you a wonderful band day. Anita

Hi Patpie, good to have you join us! I'm finding that getting enough fluids in keeps me more than full. I hope I don't get to the hungry stage... I hope you have some down time after work to recuperate! Anita

    hi everyone I'm Diana

September 2009 Band Date Hi Diana, have you added your date to this post? There are a lot of us going through the same journey, banded 09/09. I think you asked about week 3 in another post? I'm looking forward to low-fat ricotta with marinara and a sprinkle of parmesan for week three. Also fat free refried beans with cheese and maybe salsa.
  10. September 2009 Band Date Hi! Have you posted your band date on the list on these posts? Add up the money you spend stopping at those fast food places. It seems it would really add up. If it was me, I'd have to not go near those places that would be triggers. Keep in touch, and let us know how the band day is. Anita

    Another September 2009 bandster

September 2009 Band Date Hi! This seems to be where most of the 09/09 bandsters post. Are you on the list of bandsters and their surgery dates? I was expecting a sore throat, but didn't have one. So far, I'm doing fine. I wish you continued success with your band! 09/09/09 is a really nice date. Anita

    Surgery 09_22_09

September 2009 Band Date Hi! Have you placed your name on the list of 09/09 bandsters ? Quite a few are getting banded in September. I think several in Mexico. Keep in touch, and let us know how you are doing. I did the pre-op diet 2 weeks. It helped me to keep the 0 calorie beverages up to 64 oz. Have the liquids already measured out for the day. Have you tried samples of meal replacement drinks? Vitalady.com - Protein Supplements, Vitamins & Minerals, and Safe Snacks! Also, we were told to have a schedule, when to eat and when to drink, to practice for after the band. Anita

September 2009 Band Date This seems to be where most of us 09/09 bandsters post. Have you placed your name on the list there? Wishing you the best on your band day. For some unknown reason, all of my fears vanished on my band day! It's nice to be relaxed, and focused on why we are taking this journey. Keep in touch, and let us know how you are doing with a band. September 2009 Band Date

Add me to the list, travel (Anita) 09/09/09 Back home today . My shoulder pain went all the way up my neck. It wasn't until 1AM that I was able to get medicated enough to sleep. I was fully hooked up, the IV, gases, leg massagers all night. I had a room all to myself, very quiet area. Nice TV remote with speaker, was able to watch the Beatle's Anthology on VH1. Almost no pain so far except for the neck, shoulder. Can't stay awake, but I get up to drink and use the exercise glider. Anita

I usually spend a couple of months on the Oregon Coast. It sounds like your surgeon is great. I'll keep him in mind the next time I'm over there. I'll want to know who is nearby, just in case... I'm committed to success with the band, so I'll spend the whole year with my current surgeon and agenda. I was planning on spending the winter in Brookings, I'll miss the area! I'd much rather drive the two hours to Coos Bay from Brookings than drive over to Medford! -Good to hear about 09/17.
  17. I'd love to have your DVDs when you are through! My exercises were all on VHS, and I got rid of them, not thinking at that time that I could transfer them. Wishing you the best with your continued weight loss with the band! I'll be waiting for progress reports! I have bunions/foot pain, and a spinal disease that put me in the sit and be fit exercise category at times... Anita
  18. Biotene ® Mouth Spray they also have a moisturizing mouthwash, both available in the toothpaste section. I buy mine at the local grocery store. My bariatric center says to make sure to be well hydrated the day before, so I'm working on more than 64oz of fluids today. It sounds like we won't be interested in fluids after surgery, either, though we will have to take them in, very slowly, as soon as we are able. I was going to take a break from the forums, and relax the day before my surgery, but that's not happening. I sure hope all of us 09/09/09 banders get some sleep tonight! Get a prescription for physical therapy. Look for a physical therapist that has a 92 degree pool. Let us know how you are doing. Anita
  21. Hi! Since I'm not there quite yet, I understand we don't feel the band. My surgeon gave me nausea meds pre-surgery. Before and after surgery, make sure and practice sipping. Allow your system to heal with liquids only. Follow your instructions after being banded, and hopefully nausea will be a non-issue. Check the September bandsters site for banders going through the post-op phase.
  22. I'll be thinking of you on the 8th. I'm being banded on the 9th, and last night didn't get much sleep. It's sure helped me reading these posts, and realizing that most of us think about our decision, and second-guessing, and being scared. It seems many after the band wish they had been banded sooner.

Hospital supplies - my list is on post # 258. I still need to think of some type of heating pad for home. Mouth spray is in the mouthwash section, and I get the same brand moisturizing spray and wash. I wanted to ask the nurses if they will lube our lips when we are out?! It seems like it would help a lot to have some lubrication on before we wake up. I haven't read of this being done. I do read many posters saying bring your chapstick. I just did a brief glance at the number of us posting here. It would be interesting to have a count of September bandsters. Biotene Dry Mouth Products : Moisturizing Mouth Spray Anita

My instructions say that diarrhea is very normal, and constipation common. It says to make sure and get your fluids in, and plenty of exercise. The instructions go on to say that I may try Milk of Magnesia. My nutritionist says to start a laxative before surgery to help after surgery. She suggests benefiber. My mom had some Miralax, which she said would also be okay, so I'm borrowing some of that. There must be a thread on this topic, and how many days one has gone before a bm. a poll, maybe!
