I had a fill in Sept. 2009, almost 6 mos. ago. After the fill, it took about a month for me to get use to the change in the way I had to eat. Very tight in the a.m., looser in the evening. I could eat pretty much what I wanted in the evenings. I have been sick lately with bronchitis, lots of coughing. Now all of a sudden, I am having trouble getting anything down anytime of the day. Sometimes if I drink something really hot, I can eat some, but that doesn't always help. I am also having a problem with my throat feeling like it's closing up. What in the heck is going on? I'm so frustrated, because even liquids are difficult at times ):

the odd thing about what is happening to me though, is that for the past 5mos. everything has been fine(after my fill).

about the pineapple juice thing. After having my last fill, I was tighter than I had ever been in the past. I didn't know that chicken wasn't a recommended protein. The first time after that fill, that I tried to eat a VERY small piece of chicken, it got lodged. For several hrs. I couldn't even swallow saliva without throwing up. Then I decided to get on here and see if anyone else had experienced this. This site and you people are such a great support system  There were several ppl. that suggested to sip on pineapple juice, to dislodge the chicken. That was the only thing I could keep down and after about 2 hrs. the meat was gone. Someone else will need to help me out with this, but there is also a chewable that you can get, that will help with the same thing. Sorry, I can't remember the name of the chewable.

Please explain, why can I barely eat anything for bfast and lunch?

same with me. I can't eat anything most of the day and then come supper time, I can eat most anything I want. The weird thing is that not always the case. I just have to try really small bites, to see if things are gonna go down. Even then, I am restricted in the quantity. I may be eating 1/2 C. sometimes a whole. I believe I have figured out why I can't get hardly anything down most of the day, especially in the mornings. For some reason and this is gross, I think I have a build-up of drainage, that clogs up around my band. I have found that if I'm drink a little bit of something warm first thing in the morning and then sip water the rest of the day, I will eventually be able to get solids down. Anyone else with that problem? -
a few nights ago, I got a piece of chicken lodged. I vomiting for several hrs. and could not even swallow my saliva without throwing up. I decided to get on this site to see if anyone else had experienced this. It was a lifesaver!!!! I did not have the Papaya Enzyme, but did thankfully have pineapple juice. The juice was the only thing I was able to get down. I'm sure I won't explain as well as the other experienced ppl. on here did, but the juice helped break down the small piece of chicken and eventually send it on thru. It did take an hr. or so, but I read that some ppl. have to have the food removed or even get an unfill, if it won't pass.

Thank you so much BJean. That was the info. that I needed. I had pretty much decided to call/go back on Monday for an unfill. I am starting to get headaches and dizziness from not eating. I have found after reading some of the posts here, that I have been able to get some solid food to stay down, after drinking a warm beverage. By the way, when I do eat, I am eating a bite the size of a penny, maybe slightly bigger. How the heck do you ever get full, eating such tiny bites?

Tks., LisaMarie I need someone to tell me if I should wait this adj. out. It's 4 days after and water even gives me a fit, when I try to swallow. Lots of gurgling!! I can handle that but also, tight throat and painful chest. If this is just a passing thing and after losing a little weight, I can graduate up to softs and solids, then I will try to tough it out. Will my band loosen, after some weight loss? :crying:

I had a fill 3 days ago. Up until now, I have had little restriction. This fill has been a little bit of a shock to the system:drool: Up until around 5 in the evening I've only been able to have liquids. I'm having a hard time getting soft foods down, it becomes painful so I stop and go back to liquids(warm). I can actually handle this for a little while, because I've had my band 2yrs. with no successful weight loss. I'm actually excited finally to be experiencing some of the things I've read about on this site:lol: I was just wondering when I lose a little weight and/or the swelling goes down from the adjustment, will I be able to graduate to softs and again to solids and maybe even some of the foods I had before? I've waited for so long to reach this point, that I'm am very hesitant to have any of the fill removed. p.s. I tried a small piece of chicken last night and it got lodged. It was a tiny piece, chewed and chewed and chewed. Was a terrible experience. I couldn't even get saliva down for a loooong while. Tried the pineapple juice trick. I'm am happy to say it worked!!! Going out for Papaya Enzyme today
