hi all! it's been someitme since i posted and it was nice to see deb and sherry still on. i just got a fill and i am really struggling to get weight off after baby. i gained 20 lbs after giving birth - how's that for screwy!?!? but my sweet little boy is almost 11 mos old and if i have to be fat for a while yet so be it..but not too much longer. my short term goal is 220 by june 1 at the LATEST! by the way are any of you on facebook? my new obsession

ok - i am a loser and not weight either. i am slacking on keeping up with all the bidmc bandsters and with my weight loss. i need ot get my band refilled but having nicholas is very time consuming -great! but time consuming and i have promised myself i will go after the new year. i am all up for a meeting even if i am driving down to the south shore, it's worth it to see everyone! i am attaching a pix of my not so little guy. i miss you all and i'd better see some replies soon! hugs to all! dez

Hello bidmcers! well, i have a beautiful baby boy! Nicholas Michael Kuras was born on May 6th and weighed 8 lb 11 oz and was 22 inches long! he is such a cutie and i am EXHAUSTED!!! we also bought a house. it is hard to mve with a 2 week old. i am attaching a pis since i can't figure out how to put one in here. i just got the email from patientsite about the reunion and i say we make a nite of it - chris, sherry, deb and anyone else who wants to meet up. have a happy 4th! dez

hello all! are there any new babies? i thought i would share my personal horror story. no, nothing is wrong with baby but...last week i went in for my weekly ultrasound (i am old and have chronic hypertension so i get them weekly now) and the us tech screwed up BIG TIME and told me the sex of the baby!!! i have waited 37 weeks and have 2 more to go til my scheduled c-section (baby is breech) and this idiot tells me that i am having a boy. i am thrilled about any healthy baby but i wanted the surprise! so the hopsital has sent me flowers and i think they are tembling in their boots b/c it is unlawful to tell unless asked and they are afraid of a lawsuit. (which is one of those frivoulous ones that irritate me so i would never do it!) however, i want to make sure this NEVER happens again. i was crushed! i waited 10 years and did several rounds of ivf to get this wonderful surprise with no surprise now. anyway, only 9 days left til i get to meet my baby boy!

just a note to say "hi all!" hope everyone is doing well, i am rouhly the size of a house! i will say i will miss eating what i want but i am sooo ready for this weight to come off. less than 9 days to go! i will need LOTS of support when i get my band refilled even though it won;t be for several months. i have bcbs hmo blue and i paid $600 to bidmc and co-pays and that's it.

congrats on the new little ones! i am soo jealous, it seems like every day that went past got us closer to baby but now that it's so close time seems to drag. anyone else feel like that?

since my sx i have eaten flintstones chewables and when i got ph i asked my ob if i needed to get prenatals and she said no. she said that the flintstones chewables are some of the best on the market so i take that and an extra folic acid which are small and easy to swallow and a calcium supplement (adora which is like eating a piece of chocolate, the dark is better strange since i like milk better usually) every day.

how much have you gained? i am 28 weeks and have gained 20 lbs and very concerned about it! i can't seem to stop eating though! the last 3 weeks i am always hungry, i even wake up at 3 am with my tummy growling! anyone else eating themselves into a stupor?!?

i got an unfill at 21-22 weeks bc i couldn't keep water down. baby had twisted my post and it took 4 tries to find it and unfill.

hi! i was banded in july 06 and got pregnant last august by ivf when i was 39 so i will be having my first at 40. i have been very lucky with few problems. i lost the twin in october which we we told would probably happen as it wasn't growing well. i am on a low dose of hpb meds and am waiting for the results of my gestational diabetes test. keep your fingers crossed! i have gained about 20 lbs and have 12 weeks to go but i will admit i have eaten everything the last 3 weeks i can't seem to stop. i will say it is recommended to wait 2 years post band before you try but due to my age, my doc gave my fertility doc the go ahead so talk to your doc before surgery, esp if you will be doing fertility because i had to have written permission from by tummy doc before they would start the process. good luck! i

due to my age, my band doc gave me permission about 8-9 most post sx to start fertility treatments. luckily the 2nd round worked and i got pregnant in august, my sx was in july 06, and i am due in may!!! yeah!!!

nana - i agree with sherry, eat slowly, chew VERY well, that was part of my prob when i couldn;t keep anything down and don't be tempted to take that last bite. it;s usually the one that sends you over the edge and to the toilet. i can't wait to see everyone one next weekend! dez

hi guys! count me in on the feb 23 gathering at your house sherry!!! woohoo! i can't believe it's been so long since we last met or went to the reunion. things are going well here but it is SOO hard to watch the scale go UP!!!! i know it;s all for healthy baby but after over a year of losing it's scary and unnerving. i will admit now that i have been unfilled i eat a bit more than i should but i am trying to be good. quite frankly, i want my band filled as soon as i can after baby comes. dez

you all crack me up! i also have a huge pet peeve about loud, obnoxious, poorly dressed plus size people. i would NEVER dress like that. i am however, loud and obnoxious! about the maternity clothes - i lost 60 lbs or so before getting pg. i wore my pre band jeans until about 6 months then i went to 1 pair of preg jeans and i went to avenue and bought the stretch elastic waist pants - some cords and pants and they are VERY comfy and i think will fit until the end. i did buy them 1-2 sizes bigger (22-24) than post band size(20). i also have found the new baby doll style shirts at lane bryant and avenue in a 26-28 will work well. mostly that big for my boobs. i would never wear baby dolls if i was just plus size but pregnant - they are adorable! motherhood maternity does have plus size but the selection of just so-so. my preg has pushed myport out too but i am sure it will go away when baby comes!

raynie - do your inlaws want to adopt me?!?!lol congrats on all the new baby stuff! its so much fun to shop for baby! we are house hunting and i am hoping and praying we find a house so that i can nest (and NOt do all the lifting in the move!) it's so funny that we are all due about the same time, it seems as if most people i know are due in march. we registered, or at least started, this past weekend. babies r us is a bit overwhelming but soo much fun! jodie - i can't believe you got let go!!! what an a$$!!! i say you call the better business bureau! or someone, the news, her mom, someone! my boss found out early b/c i lost our twin sac at about 10-12 weeks and was on bedrest for a week so i HAD to come out. so far, so good. one of my bosses is expecting his first 2 grandbabies so i think that has softened his stone cold heart. good luck all!

i am 24 weeks tomorrow and had to be unfilled about 2 weeks ago. i also had to take progesterone, injections in by tukus every nite. hubby was great about it but luckily i got to stop early (usu lasts for 1st trimester) cuz my levels were high. i have done the suppositories before *unseccessful pregnancy - but not due to progesterone issues) and they are icky. you feel goopy "down there" all day! good luck! i will pray for you. i will say the anxiety NEVER goes away but it does ease some in second trimester and now with my third coming up i think maybe is something happens baby might survive. pregnancy is never easy but with the band we have more to think about, esp re: wt loss, higher risk factors, etc. keep believing! p.s. baby just started kicking :girl_hug:, i was beginning to worry. this is usually his/her busy time but it's been quiet tonite.

hi all! just checking in! i was wondering, how about a get together the week of presidents day, feb vacation for all you teachers out there? i miss seeing you and want to meet the newbies! what works for you? things with me are good. it's weird to be putting weight back on, i've gained about 16 lbs. not too bad for 24 weeks but scary after all the hard work i put in. baby is doing well so far, knock on wood. after getting all the fluid out of my band i can eat anything but i still get stuck if i eat too fast and some days are still tough so it;s nice to know its still working! talk at you later! dez

welcome! i live on the north shore, wakefield. i was banded 7/06 at bidmc by dr. jones. how much is in your band? i have never had more than 2cc's in my band. how long does it take you to eat? i found if i eat slowly and remember NOT to drink during or after i fill up more quickly. i have had problems w/getting "stuck" and having to throw up to get unstuck - it sucks! i do know someone who has not had much success with her band but she also did not change what she eats until recently. keep working at it and talk to your nutritionist. mine is great and always has good suggestions. good luck!

i also have/had bcbs and have had no problems. many times the wait is due to surgery times and passing the prerequisistes. at bidmc where i was banded you have to go to 2 pre op info mtgs, get cleared from any gall bladder issues, see the psych and get cleared by the team before you get your surgery date. i was lucky the whole thing took 3-4 months april - end july when i was banded but i was VERY lucky. good luck to you. one last thing - it's worth the wait!

hi all! i was banded 7/06 by dr. jones and i love him! dr. schneider is also very nice. i have a question..i had a de-fill today because baby is making eating VERY difficult. i couldn;t even get down milk or water the last 2 days. i remember someone (june maybe) telling me the post-fill diet isn't needed when unfilled but the intern told me to go back to liquids - mushies - food. i am curious because most protein supplements have sugar substitutes, which i cannot have, and i don't know how to get in enough nutrition for baby. can i go back to mushies or reg food or not? anyone know? thanks - dez

hi all! thanks for the de-fill info. i worry about preeeclampsia too so be careful and take good care of you and baby. i got a de-fill today all 1.6cc's out of a 4cc band. i couldn't even get down water or milk the last 2 days. when the intern gave me a cup to drank i downed it like a college kid at a kegger (i wish!!) it felt great! i have another question...do you have to go back to liquids, mushies then real food or can i eat my birthday dinner that i threw up yesterday? oh - by the way i am 21 weeks, 3 days and we had un ultrasound yesterday. the little bugger mooned us the whole time and in the pix we did get he/she looked like one of the statues on Easter Island. baby definitely takes after dad! is anyone else waiting to find out boy or girl or am i the only stubborn one? (my dh is not happy, HE wants to know)

i am 20 weeks pregnant and have not had a de-fill (i have 1cc in a 4cc band) yet but the last 2 weeks i have been having ALOT of trouble eating. breakfast and lunch mostly but sometimes dinner too. i get maybe 3-4 bites in and then it all comes up. when did you take your fillout? anyone else have problems? thanks for the info.
