Ohhh dear a lap-band story... Once Upon a Time.... yeah right, like most of us who fight this battle I have always been overweight. I was so excited when I started my job almost 4 years ago to learn that my insurance covered lap-band, i got the information from insurance and then started going to websites and seminars to learn more. Then about a year and a half ago i started seriously pursuing it then if it wasn't one thing it was another. My grandmother died and then did house renovations, plus i work full time on a grave yard shift while going to school full or 3/4 time as well so it was rough (i wont lie and we all know it is).
But... With the great FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner) at my Dr.'s office and their staff who has been with me all the way through my requirements for insurance and all my tests we have finally made it. Dr. Brown's asst Andrea has been a GEM as well! putting up with all my emails and questions about one thing or another (hey if you dont ask you wont know right?), and I couldn't have done it without the love and support of my family who have stood behind me in my decision to get this done.I cant wait for the new chapter in my life to start and hoping that my 30th birthday will be a BANG! Good luck to those who are on their way to getting surgery and congrats to those who have already had it!OK now im post op! I had surgery on 08/05/2009, Surgery went well. i am currently 3 days post op, still a lil sore and bloated but hoping it disapates soon. I cant wait to get my journey going and loose some weight!Good luck all!
