I've been heavy since I was in HS. I did have some of the health related problems that come with being Obese, but not serious. I tried dieting several times but never succeeded. I'd lose some weight but would always get it back. In the past year and a half I'd put on quite a bit of weight in a short period of time. I had been thinking about having bariatric surgery for some time but didn't do anything about it. It was when my cardiologist asked me if I'd ever thought about it when I finally made the decision to start the process. I called the Hospital the same day and scheduled the information session. I went to that in October and was scheduled to see the surgeon shortly after that. I was all ready to go when I found out that my employer had the procedure excluded from our health insurance policy. I was very upset at that point. I found out soon after that we were changing insurance companies and that the new policy had the procedure included. We changed January 1st and I was in to see the Surgeon on January 6th. The rest is history. I had my lap band surgery on April 24th and am happy with my decision.
