  1. Ashley, Each doctor is different so I am going to tell you what my doctor just told me on my 2 week post op. If you are hungry eat! But make the right choices. If you want to have an 8 oz fish go for it but don't have a cheeseburger. Once i get a restriction and he makes us wait (90 days!!!!!!) i will be able to eat the 4 oz of that healthy food i am used to by now. 1/4 cup never filled me up. My nut. told me to eat 4 oz.- especially by 3rd week, you shouldn't have a problem eating 4 oz. but if you do have questions, you really should contact your doctor and see what your nut says.
  2. Hi:) Your weight loss is impressive!! can you please tell me what you did? I figured if it worked for you, i might as well give it a shot ;). thanks!

    Banded yesterday

also - my doctor had me on CLEAR liquid diet for the first 3 days and I drank isopure clear kine (they are flavored). It is 40 g of protein. Not the best tasting thing ever - but it went down smooth and i was getting my protein in from day 1.

    Banded yesterday

My port was killing me (I had the surgery on Monday). What really really really helped is putting an icepack over my shirt on that spot. I kept putting new ice/ice packs and i was just fine. I mean...of course you feel it when you get up and move but the cold takes some of the pain away. Good luck
  7. I am 3 days post op and today I started my full liquid diet. I have to say that the first day and a half was hard and after that I am feeling really well. I was able to get all my required water down, my clear protein and today I am eating exactly how much my nut told me to. I am not feeling stuffed...nor do i want to even try to overdo it and see what it feels like. I know that that the first month is important in keeping the band from slipping so i am not even going to try. I am trying not to get on the scale until my 2 week check up -but so far i feel really good. I am a little hungry and my stomach does curse me out for not eating - but i don't have that "oh my god! if i don't eat something, I am goign to die!!!" This has been a good experience so far and I am looking forward to the next step when I can start eating real food (not until a month from now) but like I said - I am following the instructons to the T and not even trying to cheat or "try it out". Just happy to be on this side finally and know that my healthy active life has begun

    No Ride Home

I am so glad you have a ride home! I had my surgery on Monday and I don't even remember getting out of the hospital or my dad driving me home...I was soo loopy. I only woke up at 1:30 am finally aware of everything.
  10. hi :) how did your surgery go yesterday? I am home already and recovering. I slept the entire day yesterday - but today much more energy.

  11. I got banded yesterday :cursing: Turns out i don't have a hernia (the results were shoing something else) so i ended up going home the same day. I don't remember anything! I just remember them saying that i will fall asleep in a few minutes and I don't think i even heard them say the word minutes..i was out. i hope up with lots of pain in where my port is and extremely sleepy. I slept the entire day yesterday. Took more pain killers around 10 and now i am up at 1:30 am. I was nervous about keeping hydrated bc i read that it is very hard to drink right after. i had no problems whats so ever sipping down 4 oz every 15 -20 min. In fact, i don't feel like i have a band in me at all just the port lol. So i am going to concentrate on the liquid diets till Wed and then I get to have some soup..yum yum. and thank god for Oxycontin!! I have been hiding from my 2 year old in the bedroom so that she doesn't jump all over me, but my dog has not left my side from the second i got home. He is so sweet..he just lays next to my stomach and is keeping it warm. ok, i am going to go back to bed and get some sleep.:cursing:

    Im now done! :)

Oh i had the worst headache yesterday until now. I think it went away with more Water i drank. I called the office to tell them that i have a headache and i am nauseous they said to wait to take something bc it is just the anesthesia wearing off.

    weird!

I am having my surgery no Monday (10/26/09) at 9 am. Did all my pre-op all happy. Get a call at 4;30 on friday from the insurance coordinator at my doctors office stating that the Doctor found a hernia and that it will need to be repaired. Insurance have been notified but i have to stay over night. I was shocked. Where and when did the find the hernia????? what the heck are they talking about. I requested a call back either from the Doctor or a nurse since the ins. person couldn't tell me anything. I still have not heard back and a little "WTF" about it. I know i can speak to my doctor on Monday but where the heck is he getting the idea that i have my hernia. If its from that gastro test - ok. but i had that done a month ago and that doctor said everything looks fine. So i am a littel baffled.:blushing:

    No Ride Home

As the other posts said - pls call your insurance and find out if they cover. and even if they dont, I know that ride home might be expensive but not as expensive as if something happened to you. Man..i wish i lived closer..I would totally drive you. Good luck

    Gas Pain

Have some warm decaf tea. It will push the air bubbles right out.
  20. I got my approval today wahoo!!! Tricare is seriously the best when it comes to this process. Thank you Arlene at Tricare for making this almost a clean/easy process. They offered the surgery for this Monday! I would totally go for it but I can't because of my job. I still have so much stuff to take care of that I just can't take any chances. So I am going in on Monday, 10/26. Just one day pre-op liquide diet which is totally fine with me. Words can't express how excited I am about my future :scared2:
  21. Hi. I just came back from my pre-op class and that was one of the questions asked. The nurse and the Doctor both said that there is no reason why you can't take that pill. I showed them my pill which is huge and they said that I will be able to take it with no problem. However, they said that if we don't feel comfortable: either run it by the primary (or whoever gave it to you) or ask the pharmacy if it comes in other form.
  22. Stacy1980

    oh oh

Thank you for that! You are right - I should just tell him when i can do it and not when he wants to do it. He has this habit of doing things when its convinient for him but because of my daughter I try to do whatever benefits her ..not him. As long as i am ok to take her out on Haloween - I will be ok. I can make him wait till then  Thanks!!!!
  23. Stacy1980

    oh oh

So I didn't tell my soon to be ex-husband that i am having this surgery. He just called and said that his unit (he is in the coast guard) will be stationed in my area around 10/26 and will be here for 2 weeks. At which time, he wants me to drive my daughter to him few days a week so he can see her..Well, my surgery is on 10/27. Crap. I still don't want to tell him and never will tell him because he just sucks...but i don't want to keep my daughter from seeing him while he is here either. and he has no way of getting to me either. so do i just tell him that I am sick that week and can't drive her? grr. ideas please!
  24. My friend just got banded and she initially wanted to come back to work after a week but she ended up taking an extra week because she just didn't have energy. Plus our job offers 100% paid shot term disability and we have to be out for more then 6 days...so it just makes sence. I filled out my paper work for 2 weeks off and i am soo looking forward to that  good luck
  25. Hi :) It looks like you and I have the same surgery date :) Just wanted to say Hi!!
