I know!!! Doesn't it feel great?? It took me 3 months to lose that much on my last diet. And of course, I managed to gain it back. Just wait, we'll be having more and more of those "little victories". Congratulations!!!:clap2:

    A little gassy!!

Gas X strips helped me the first week or so. You might want to give them a try.
  3. Dr. Nusbaum is an angel. I was so scared before my surgery, I was crying. (I have no idea why.) And he stayed with me for 10 minutes comforting me and reminding me why I made the decision to have the band in the first place. Did you read the article in his office listing him as one of the top bariatric surgeons in the United States. That made me feel good, and certainly more comfortable with my choice. I'm sure we'll have a lot of stories to share.:biggrin1:

Diva Girl, Good for you. It's not easy to be good when everyone around you is eating. You really did well here. You should be proud of yourself. That wasn't easy, I know. Cheers to you honey for sticking with the program!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: I'm also glad we have our safe haven here with the ABC club!!! This is always my first stop on this board, to see how everyone is doing and to fill you all in on my experiences. Thanks to everyone here for supporting one another.:biggrin1:
  5. Feeling hungry is perfectly normal at this stage. If you haven't yet, check out the ABC (for August Band Club) September chat. We have all been talking about the same thing. Congrats on your surgery BTW.:clap2:

Oh, I forgot to tell you all, I tied a tiny piece (maybe 1/2 inch square) of my son's pizza yesteday and it hurt like crazy!!! If felt like it got stuck and my chest was killing me for almost ten minutes then I gagged up some mucous. Then I felt fine. I'm going to be very wary of breads now. Imagine an italian girl not eating pizza and italian bread.

Chrissie, I'm not really good at following directions. I'm a rebel, LOL!!! I kind of sped up my post op diet a bit. I was supposed to do one week of clear fluids, one week of liquids, including cream Soups, etc, one week of mushies and then add the solids. I did three days of Clear Liquids, then moved to the creamy stage for a few days, then the mushy stage. And I tinkered with solids a little bit. For example if my family was having chicken, I would take maybe two or three little bites and chew the heck out of them, then eat my soup. Since I had my fill, I was supposed to be on clear liquids for a week then gradually move at my own pace. My problem is, I'm going to an anniversary party on Saturday and I don't want to be a pain and ask the restaurant to make me something special. So I've been moving the process a little quicker. I immediately went to the creamy stage with no problem. Attempted solids and it hurt, so I'm waiting for a bit on that. I am able to do mushies though. I had an omelette with spinach, portobello mushrooms and asiago cheese last night and it went fine. I'm not sure if I'm restricted enough. I did notice that this time I only ate half my omlette when a week ago I almost ate the whole thing. I guess I'll have to see over the next week ago if I notice any difference. My surgeon said I can come back in if I don't feel restricted enough. Jeez, it seem like we're all plateauing. (is that a word?) I haven't weighed myself since my fill, I'm trying to cut down, LOL!!!:biggrin1:

    PreOp chaos

Don't beat yourself up for a cheat here and there. I know I felt like I wanted to eat all of my favorite foods before my surgery. I didn't be I really wanted to. We're all gonna make mistakes and have setbacks, the point is to get back on track and not let it ruin your enthusiasm.

I'm with you 100% faybie!!! I'm so thankful to have the ABC for support. I can't imagine fighting with anyone here. We're all in the same boat, we're all going to make mistakes and we all need to know it's okay. That's all that matters. :biggrin1: How people end up fighting on a SUPPORT Board confuses the heck out of me.:phanvan Pelorojo, sounds like you're doing fine. That burping sensation is gas, nothing to worry about. As for the surgical glue, mine started just flaking off on its own, so I really don't have any suggestions.

Hey Chrissie, here is my first fill in more detail. ( I was really tired this morning, LOL) It's really pretty simple and fairly painless, I just hate being stuck with needles so I was tense. I was put on a table that tilted 90 degrees so I was practically standing. Then my doctor cleaned the area around my port and injected something to numb the area. Then he inserted a needle with a thin tube on the end (it reminded me of my epidural when I had my son) Then they lowered the imaging screen over my stomach and my doctor showed me the band on the monitor. I had to drink a few sips of a barium solution (yuck!!!) and they could see how much was passing through the band. While looking at the screen, the doctor slowly pressed the plunger and inserted the saline through the tube. That was pretty much it. He took out the tube and put a band aid on the puncture. It didn't hurt other than the shot to numb the area, and that didn't hurt much at all. Now I'm looking forward to some weight loss since I was stalled for a bit.

Whew!! I found you guys! I'd be lost without you. Okay my goal is also to lose 10 pounds by October 1st. I was stalled with my weight loss for almost this whole week too. Don't know why though. I know my band wasn't filled yet but I was definitely eating less than I normally would. RLittman, I noticed my appetite increasing as well. I say "go for the fill!!!" Actually I just got my first fill today. I asked my doctor why he schedules them so early and I had to laugh at his response. "You want to lose weight, right? Well, then let's do it." Can't argue with that logic. I forgot to ask how much he put in. I had to get up at 5 am and drive 1 1/2 hours to get there, I was so tired, I hardly spoke. BTW, fills are a piece of cake. Mmmmm, cake! LOL!!! I'm also a bit concerned...Surby!!! Please check in with us!!! Well, August Bandsters we're moving on to phase 2 together!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

What will they think of Next

I hate when they use skinny models for stuff like this!!! (Or maybe those jeans really work and the models are all really fat!!! LOL!!!) The reviewer gave them 4 stars!!! I guess they must do something. I have to say the khaky cordouroy skirt is so cute!

    August Band Crew!!!!!

Glad all went well Faybie. I know what you mean about thinking about the food you didn't get to eat before banding!!! :hungry: I was watching TV and a Taco Bell commercial came on and I was like "Oh I wish I had Taco Bell one more time before I got banded!":p The mental hunger is a tough one. I have to keep reminding myself that I'm not REALLY hungry. Cheers to all the August Bandsters!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: We've made it through the month!!!

THE GOOD, THE BAD and THE UGLY

The Good: Being able to get up from the floor after playing with my 2 year old The Bad: Having to hear my son being punished in school for fighting after someone said his mother was fat. The Ugly: No one listening to me when I said I wanted to keep this surgery personal. Everyone within a 30 mile radius knows I got the band!!!

    August Band Crew!!!!!

I also wouldn't worry too much about port pain. I have some too. I've noticed that once I started to wear my jeans again, the port area started getting iritated and sore. Hoping that goes away because I really hate wearing sweatpants in public. Andy Liz, if you figure out a way to make pizza into a liquid, let me know!!!:hungry: And don't worry, I lost 13 pounds and gained one back...now I'm stalled too. Our bodies just don't always work consistently. I'm sure we'll see another drop soon.

RLittman, Bug, I TOTALLY learned my lesson. I'm back to mushies. Actually I'm getting my first fill Friday, so I'll probably be back to liquids for a bit. Happy2Bme, best of luck tomorrow!!! Everyone here has been so supportive and helpful. It's really a great place to go.

    Therapist NOT supportive of LB

My therapist/ nutritionist played Devils Advocate with me. She challenged my decision just to make sure that I thought everything through and that I understood the decision I made. So she was tough on me for a bit, but once she realized I didn't just jump to this decision, she was supportive. If your therapist is showing no support you need to move on.
