  1. Great post Wheetsin!! I wanted to add that, depending on the doctor, you may also be put on a table for a scan while drinking a fluid called fluoro. It tastes pretty nasty but it gives the doctor a view of the fluid going through the band and helps him/her gauge how much to fill it. Some doctors do this, some don't. That's another thing you may want to ask during your consult.

    Tiny Bites Make Food Nasty

I find myself trying to keep up with the rest of the family. They're all fast eaters. It's weird to have to consciously think about chewing when you eat. We all know the agony of not chewing your food well enough. OUCH!!

    chicken or beef???

I haven't tried beef (other than ground) yet either. Chicken is tough sometimes. I have to have it swimming in some kind of sauce in order to get it down. Then at that point, it's not exactly low fat so I've been really eating a lot of seafood and eggs. I've become the omlette queen!!!! LOL!!:hungry:
  4. Faybie, Darlin' you rock for doing all of this!!! I had my second fill today but again, I don't know how much. (It's so early in the morning and I forget to ask.:phanvan ) Don't update me yet though. I'm weighing in on Monday...let's see what happens after a few days of liquids.

Faybie, you look amazing!!! You're so beautiful!! I thought we had someone new on because I didn't recognize your avatar. I was looking for your cartoon chick!! LOL!! Pebbles, your weight loss is outstanding!! Don't ever come down on yourself again. You're incredible!!! Robin, I have to agree with the calorie thing too. When I upped my calories from about 750 to 900 or so, I started losing again. Of course, you may also need another fill. I noticed I did after about a week after my first. I just had my second fill this morning. I'm definitely more restricted this time. He was filling while I was swallowing the fluoro (Blech!!!) and it actually came back up in my throat. The surgeon said I'll definitely feel more restricted this time. My mother is having lapband surgery on Tuesday. I'm so happy for her. She's had a rough few years; two heart attacks, breast cancer, and two knee surgeries. She gained so much weight beween being unable to move and the medications she was given. I'll fill you all in on her progress as well. Oh, something interesting my surgeon explained to me today. I asked him if the saline evaporates from the bands since I hear of people with good restriction eventually needing fills. He said that the saline does not evaporate but the fatty tissue around the stomach reduces as you lose, making the band looser. So, now you know. LOL!! Have a great day ABC!!!!
  8. Scribby, I agree with you completely regarding the abortion issue, I'm not pro-abortion, I'm pro-choice. Simply stated, I don't think it's right to impose my morality (or anyone else's) on someone else. As for BuSh (I like TOM's spelling, LOL!) and his reasons for invading Iraq, PULEEZE!!! Liberating Iraq from a tyrant?? What about the tribal wars in Africa where women, children and the elderly are being raped, mutilated and murdered by the thousands??? Oh wait, I forgot, there's no oil in Africa!! Silly me!!!:rolleyes BTW, I'm loving this thread. It's such a testament to the people on the MB that something as touchy as politics can be discussed rationally and respectfully. Great job everyone!!:clap2:

Thanks Candy! I'll try the lemon thing. I know I'll lose it after my fill but I just want to do it before. It's like a personal goal for me. I have to get on the treadmill now...ick!:phanvan
  13. Scribby, these stats are both sobering and sad. It's horrible to see what has happened to our country over the last few years. And to think, these stats are even worse and more horrific now. BTW, the reason more people are employed now has a lot to do with the men and women who had to leave their jobs and serve in the Middle East. What would happen to our employment rate when those men and women come home? How many people will be out of work then? What's going to happen to our economy at that point? I seriously wonder if Bush plans on leaving his mess for the next president?

UGGGHHHH!!!! I'm still stuck at 300.2!!!!! It's been a week!! I'm having an incrediby messed up menstrual cycle. I'm spotting and not "actually" getting my period. I wonder if that has something to do with it. I'm also sick with a sinus infection. I just wanna break into twoterville beofre my fill on Friday...:faint:

Pebbles, I'm so sorry you're having such a tough time. Any time you're feeling low, you should definitely come here. We're here to support each other. It's good that the ice cream temptation was removed from your house, although I don't think a scoop would have hurt too much (saying this because I ate some last night...dang PMS!!!) I also get really stir crazy at home. I don't like to be alone either. Do you like to read? Maybe your mom can pick up some books for you. I'm a total bookworm so that helps me when I need to pass some time. Please, come vent to us any time. Faybie, Thanks you so much for taking on such a huge project!!! I nominate you ABC member of the month!!!
  16. Waterlily, be proud of yourself. You see you're having a problem and you're doing something about it. That takes a great deal of strength and courage. Taking the step to make positive changes in your life is an honorable thing. Honey, you are so not a failure. Hang in there.

Darn!!! And spelling was one of my best subjects!!!!:biggrin1:
  18. Personally for me, RNY scared the hell out of me. I had some friends who had RNY and lost a lot of weight but they lived their lives popping supplements and constantly having eating issues. Not to mention both of them eventually gained all their weight back. I also have two friends with the band. One chose to have the band tighter and lose more quickly. She doesn't have as much freedom as my other friend who prefers to keep eat looser letting him eat more of the foods he likes. Both are losing comfortably and neither are having issues with nutrition and popping supplements like Pez. I like the fact that the band is not nearly as invasive as RNY. I also like that your weight loss is controlled by you. You decide how quickly or slowly you want to lose. I love the fact that every time I get on the scale I can say, with almost 100% certainty, I'll never see that number on my scale again.

Oh good!!! Another thread for it would be a good idea. Hmmmm what to call it? How bout ABC ~ Updates???? and put a little blurb in the first post saying that this is where all ABC members update info such as total weight loss, fills, complicaitons, etc. Does that sound okay with everyone? Any other ideas? (Wow, my self esteem must be coming back...I'm gettin bossy!!! LOL!!:heh: )
  21. Ick...I never thought about that!! Now the real question is....Do you swallow or spit?
  22. Carol...I had to laugh because I was just telling one of my friends that I need to go for a "wax" and she asked why I don't do it myself. I answered her "Because I can't see what I'm doing down there!!!" Now there's a weird NSV...the day I can wax my own bikini area!!! LOL!!! thanks for the chuckle!!

I don't recall having to fast for a fill Candy. Of course, my surgeon does fills at 7am and I have to get up at 5am to get there on time, so I don't eat anyway. Doesn't hurt to call the office and ask, just to be sure. And as for the boob thing...what's that all about?? Since I had my son, I grew to a 38DD and now my bras seem to be looser. My husband keeps joking..."No, not the boobs!! Take the ass, the thighs...just please not the boobs!!" LOL!!!:bounce:

But still eating more than I should. Candy, we don't beat each other up here. We support each other, mistakes and all. God knows, we're all gonna make them. Try your best to stay on track until your fill. You'll start seeing a difference. And get moving!!! Exercise will definitely help to get/keep the pounds off. We're all doing great!! Keep your chins up (I had two chins but I'm back to one now, LOL!!) Cheers to the ABC!!!:clap2:
  25. I'm a liberal democrat who managed to convert her conservative republicans (well, with a little help from George W. that is, LOL!!) I always work the local elections for the democratic party. I even worked the John Kerry campaign and got to go to Jon Bon Jovi's house for a political fundraiser. I think the political stereotypes are ridiculous. Hmmm, balanced budget...haven't seen that since Clinton was in office. LOL!!!
