Pelo...welcome to the band honey!!!! LOL!!! I have days like that too but I keep reminding myself that I'm losing so it's all good! Try counting your chews. It helps you get used to it.
-
I'm certainly not defending him but maybe he's afraid of losing you. Fear can make people do some cruel things. Maybe you should talk to him about it and ask him what he's feeling.

Well, so far I went from a 42DD to a 38D. Aside from that, I noticed what a lot of other people have said. My boobs now look like deflated balloons! LOL!!! I started wearing push-up bras to get them back to where they belong!

I told him about the band and how much I lost and in what time frame. He feels that my irregular cycle is, in fact, due to the significant weight loss over a relatively short period of time. He feels that once my weight stabilizes, I should be fine. I asked about the "protection" of the pill and he said he doesn't feel that would be an issue either. Soooooo, I'm so glad for all of your advice as this had me a bit nervous.

Josette, you reminded me of another horrible pb story! I was taking my 3 year old to his allergist which is a good 45 minutes away and we were running late. I bought him a happy meal from McDonalds because we didn't have time for lunch. He ate half the cheeseburger and handed it to me. Without even thinking, I took a bite, chewed and swallowed...major stuck. I'm on the Garden State Parkway, (which is a major highway in Jersey) and salivia is starting to drip down my chin but I can't pull over because I'm in the left lane and there's a ton of traffic. I started to panic and grabbed the McDonalds' bag from the back seat. My three year old is yelling..."Mommy, you stuck? You gonna throw up?" ...ya gotta love kids... I ended up pb-ing in the McDonalds bag while driving on the Garden State Parkway at 75 mph! How scary is that!?? Then we get to the allergist and my son proceeds to tell her..."Mommy threw up on my happy meal!" LMAO!!!

How long without losing until you get a fill?
libra replied to derbygirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It really depends on the individual. I tend to wait 2 weeks without losing before scheduling a fill. You do have to be honest with yourself though and be sure that it's not poor food choices and lack of activity that is causing you to keep the weight on. If you've been making all of the right choices and still not losing, then go for the fill. The tool can't work if you don't set it properly. -
My friend is a pilates instructor and she recommended the bean for ab work. She said it works similarly to the exercise ball but gives more support and stability. It's better for people with lower back problems. I haven't bought it yet as I have a lot of financial stuff coming up with my brother's wedding, but I'm planning to. It sounds like a really good investment.
-
Wheetsin, you hit the nail right on the head. I had an issue where I was at a party and trying to hold it in and suddenly had to run because the band wouldn't wait anymore, but it's not like I didn't know it was coming. I was being stupid and trying to ignore it.
-
Pelo, I think it's okay as long as you're still only eating a small amount. Depending on how stuck I get, sometimes after I pb I can eat, sometimes I'm too irritated and I can't. Sometimes I'll wait 1/2 hour and eat a Protein bar instead of my meal. Robin, glad I could make you laugh a little. It was very hard keeping a straight face walking out of that bathroom. LOL!!! Oh, and Steph, I think you're right. It's not as bad as vomiting as the food hasn't been processed through the stomach. We just look like a bunch of raging bulemics! Hey, I wouldn't have lost 80 pounds without the help of this band, so I'll deal with it.

THanks for the advice guys. I'm calling my doctor today. He changed my prescription in December to a different brand. Maybe it's just not working for me. It's not fun having my period every two weeks. ICK! Babygrl. I stated using the treadmill for about 20 minutes at about 2.5 mph. Then, I gradually increased it to 30 minutes and now go about 3.5mph. I'd go more time, but my 3 year old gets restless. Once I started seeing a significant amount of weight loss, I added handweights for my arms and chest. I still haven't started working on my abs, which is not good. I just don't seem to have the time, but I really have to get to it. BTW, don't get discouraged, you're doing great!
-
Wait! Wait! Hold the phone!!!! I have a question waterlily.... When you say you have a lot of periods close together and that means you're losing fat....HUH? I'm asking because for the last two months, I've had my period every two weeks, and I'm on birth control pills! It's driving me (and my husband for that matter. LOL! ) crazy! Is that what it means? I need an education, can you explain this?
-
I haven't had the flu but have burst some blood vessels in my face from pb-ing. Not pleasant. Hope you don't have the flu, feel better.
-
That's happened to me too. I don't know what causes it. Sometimes I open my mouth to talk and this weird "croak" comes out! Yes, it is embarrassing. I'm learning to just laugh it off. If you're not into toilet humor, don't read the rest of this paragraph.... Speaking of embarrassed, do some of you get embarrassed when you have to pb in a public restroom? I try and be extra quiet in there. Yesterday, we went to lunch and like an idiot, I tried a piece of calamari (not a good idea by the way...)so I needed to go to the bathroom to get rid of it. I'm standing in the stall..the bathroom was full of people, and I'm trying like crazy to be quiet. When all of a sudden, the woman in the stall next to me lets out a series of ridiculously loud "farts" I took the opportunity to get rid of the calamari during one of her loud farts so no one would hear me. LOL!!! I was laughing hysterically leaving the bathroom that I had to tell my husband what happened with tears in my eyes.

Helloooooooooo! Where'd everybody go? LOL!!! Hope everyone is doing okay!

Good for you!! I went from a 42DD to a 38D so far. I can actually buy my bras from Victoria's Secret again! Yay!!

If you're waking up during the night with severe acid reflux, I would certainly talk to your doctor and consider a slight unfill. Either way, talk to your doc, he/she may be able to help with the reflux, etc.

Please don't get discouraged about how much you've lost. Stay positive and know that you're on your way to feeling so much better. My mom lost 44 pounds since her surgery and is still in the same size. It really depends where your "fat" is located. My mom is all belly, so although her pants are now baggy in the legs, she can't go down a size yet. As for listing our positives...here's mine. I went from a size 30 to a size 20. I can now carry my three year old up a flight of stairs when he falls without feeling like my knees are going to crumble under the pressure. I went from a 42DD bra to a 38D. My shoes are no longer a 9 1/2 wide and are now just a 9. Oh, and did I mention I now have a neck? I had been looking all over for it for years!!!
-
Well, I guess I'm plateauing too. (is plateauing a word? LOL!) I haven't lost a thing in almost 2 weeks. I'm not getting frusterated though, I was losing a lot there for a while. I'm still restricted and my eating habits haven't really changed. Hopefully, this will pass soon. I did have a good day yesterday though. I had to buy a dress for a shower...and....I'm now a size 20. I started this process a size 30! I actually did a little victory dance in the fitting room!!!

Osbourne Plans to Remove Gastric Band By Associated Press 2 hours agoUPDATED 1 HOUR 36 MINUTES AGO NEW YORK - Sharon Osbourne says she plans to remove a gastric band that helped her lose 125 pounds and instead rely on psychotherapy to cope with her weight issues. "I have to figure out why I do what I do to myself," the 54-year-old wife/manager of rocker Ozzy Osbourne says in an interview in People magazine's Oct. 30 issue. "I think I have some sort of self-destruction button." Osbourne, who has written a memoir, "Sharon Osbourne Extreme," had surgery for the gastric band in 1999 and plans to shed it in December (when she returns to the U.S. from Britain), she says. She packed on 15 pounds this year "from overeating," she says, even though the band limits what she can digest. "I keep trying to eat more and more ... I'm a pig," says Osbourne, who has indulged in "chocolate, French fries and junk food" instead of sticking to the nutritious diet required of gastric-band patients. What happens when she eats too much? "You throw up...then you eat more," she says. Osbourne, who starred with her bizarre-yet-loving clan in MTV's "The Osbournes," is being cheered on by her three children: Aimee, 23, Kelly, 21, and Jack, 20. "My kids, their whole life, have seen me struggle with weight," she says. "They say, `Now you need to spend time on your head.'"

Looking good Jessica!!!!!

I agree that your food choices could have irritated the problem. After every fill, my doc recommends 2 days liquids, 3 days mushies. chicken and hamburger are a no-no all the time for me. I'd say to stick with liquids...maybe yogurt would be good to try. But if you can't get anything down soon, you need to get back to the doc.

I had mine in August and my mom had hers in October!
-
Molly, I'm sure your mom is watching your accomplishments with pride. Keep doing what you're doing!

My doc said when I'm ready he can replace mine with a low-profile port. It's starting to stick out a bit.
