I was taking loestrin 24. Oh, but I got pregnant while taking it so I guess I'm not a good spokesperson for the product.

who supports right to choose
libra replied to 396power's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The thing is...there is no way anyone is going to sway the opinion of someone on the other side. There is no point in the argument or debate, it won't change someone's mind. A pro-choice advocate won't suddenly become pro-life and vice versa. And yes, the adoption system in this country sucks. There's a huge waiting list for white children, yet black and hispanic children are left to suffer in the system. Maybe if there was a better system for these children, abortion wouldn't even be an issue. -
From Supportive Husband to Insecure Husband..
libra replied to jenz75's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It happens. My husband was VERY insecure with my weight loss as well. We ended up going to marriage counseling where he finally revealed that he thought I would leave him for someone younger and "more exciting" We did manage to work it out and are very happy with each other. He's my best friend and will always be my best friend. It doesn't matter what size I am. Sometimes, it helps him that I remind him of that. -
Thanks for the support. I'm feeling better about this. I had a long talk with my best friend and she and I started picking apart everything that happened at the doctor's office that day. From the fact that the tech was having trouble finding the baby in the ultrasound and that I just spotted a little, I'm noticing there is definitely room for error. Part of the concern for the doctor was that the baby was measuring a week younger than it should. But in all honesty, the tech was really struggling to find the baby at all. She was pushing on my stomach and complaining about how she could barely see it. There is a really good chance she measured it incorrectly. As for the bleeding, my best friend's sister in law got her period for the first 5 months and didn't even know she was pregnant until month 6. I'm not saying all is well. (I'm being really careful not to overdue it) But I'm realizing that just because the doctor was preparing me for the worst, that doesn't mean the worst is coming. I'm pretty confident that the baby will be fine.

Supposedly, the more frequently you have sex, the longer he'll last. I guess it's a practice makes perfect sort of effect. My husband's in his early fifties and swears to me that regular sex will keep his prostate healthy. Not sure if that's medically true but I'm not arguing!

any moms to be with killer headaches?
libra replied to losingjusme's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I always get some terrible migraines whenever my hormones are affected. (menstrual cycle or pregnancy included) Since I can't take my migraine meds during pregnancy, my doctor said that a cup of coffee once in a while is fine and the caffeine will help get rid of the headache. -
I can't see how attenting a mainly bypass support group could be any help to you whatsoever. I'd bail out asap. Or maybe you could suggest to the surgeon that he set up separate groups for banders.

Should LapBandTalk have forums for OTHER Weight Loss Surgeries?
libra replied to Froggi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree about the new posts tool. I would like those forums to not be included but don't know if Alex can do that. Part of the reason I like the other WLS forums being included is that I feel we're providing members with a greater education regarding their WLS choices. Someone can come here thinking banding is best for them and find another option that suits them better. -

Carrie, For the most part, I suppose I would say I'm pro-choice in that I don't feel the government should be involved in making those decisions for women. But I have to tell you, I can't get the description you gave out of my head. I think, especially being pregnant right now, that really affected me. I'm sort of a weird pro-choicer in that I don't think I could personally get an abortion but I don't feel we should pass judgement on those that have. Thanks for giving everyone a little insight. -
When did Pregnancy/Band sypmtoms start???
libra replied to Bean333's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Nothing yet....I can pretty much eat whatever I want. I don't think you'll find a direct answer on this though. We're all different and started with different fill levels. I was actually about to call for a fill when I found out I was pregnant so I'm pretty loose at the moment. -
I had my first child before being banded and gained a LOT of weight after he was born. I'm so relieved now that I have the band to help me through the "new baby adjustment period" Midnight feedings used to be for both me and the baby. Not this time.

I've got quite a bit of time left.....but post pictures of your little one!

I think we need to keep in mind that it's okay to talk about sexual issues, etc, in here but to just post random items about sex is not appropriate. Specific concerns or questions that you'd like addressed are certainly okay to post about.

congrats!!!!

Jaculin, welcome! I'm from Ocean County. We're neighbors!

Personally, I don't believe the whole "sexual peak" thing. I think when woman hits her thirties, she becomes more confident and able to express her desires. I think I was always curious when it came to sexuality but find myself more comfortable expressing it now that I'm a little older. Don't worry about how long it will last, just embrace it. It feels good to be able to express those desires without embarrassment.

I have an English degree. I actually get so sidetracked by those errors that I can't even concentrate on the content of the post anymore. So glad to see I'm not the only one.

Odd. I just noticed that my hair felt a little oily at the roots last night. I've never had oily hair in all my life. I switched conditioners when I showered this morning so I'll have to see if it helped. I never had a problem during my first pregnancy but hormones can do strange things to a woman's body during pregnancy. I suppose anything's possible.

Poll- Pg when did you get unfilled?
libra replied to jillrn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Congrats bushbaby....twins!!! Wow, rest up now, you'll need it later. Congrats to you too avasmommy. When's your due date? Mine's been changed to April 2nd. My mother is thrilled because the April birthstone is a diamond for her "grandmother ring" LOL!! I think it's insane for people to judge one another regarding fills during pregnancy. My OB has dealt with several pregnant bypass patients but never a bandster. She said if bypassers can have a healthy pregnancy, she doesn't see the need for me to get a total unfill unless I'm having difficulty eating healthy foods. -
That's odd. Technically, pb-ing and vomiting are not the same. When you pb, the food doesn't come from the stomach, therefore no stomach acid is churned up. It's the stomach acid that supposedly does damage to tooth enamel.

I'm pregnant now but was told I can have a perfectly normal vaginal delivery. Wonder what the reason would be for more c-sections?
-
You know, I've been really worried about that. I'm almost at a point of being afraid to gain weight. I guess because I worked so hard to lose it. I don't think I had the time to psych myself about the weight gain since this wasn't a planned pregnancy. I'm on the scale every morning just checking to see if I've gained anything yet. I only gained 22 pounds with my first child...of course I was 300 pounds at the time and probably didn't NEED to gain anything.
-
Not yet. I'm not sure if I need to unless I need an unfill. Did anyone else inform their surgeons right away?

Women only - Two cycles in one month?
libra replied to coolcrystal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had this happen for a good 6 months or so. My gynecologist said that it is from the significant weight loss. It has something to do with your fat stores releasing stored hormones as you lose the weight. I was on birth control and still had my period twice a month. Be careful though, I ended up getting pregnant when I thought I was protected by the pill. -
Welcome Sandria. Hey, I just noticed we have the same surgeon. I loved Dr. Nusbaum. Have you told him about your pregnancy yet?
