I totally agree. I have been snubbed by a few Bypass people like I was lower class or not up to the challenge of the Bypass. People here don't bash them . . . I do not know why they want to bash us. But really I could careless I did what was best for me and 3 years later still happy with my choice. cheri

123crod replied to knknosmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to take him to the seminar with you and he will relax. It is sometimes scary for them will you change after?? Will you still want to be married? Give it time and like the above poster said research it together. cheri -
Approved For Tomorrow..but Got A Scary Call Today
123crod replied to dreamydaria's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just remind your surgery team before you go in. You should have a brief talk with your surgeon before surgery, I did and remind him. But I am sure you will be just fine. I think a lot of people who are overweight have higher blood pressure. I think you can relax. I am saying a prayer for you!! Let us know how your are doing after!!! cheri -
Has Anybody Lost A Lot A Weight And Gained Most Of It Back?
123crod replied to ImSoMotivated's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Also remember you are 3 years older if you had your surgery in 2009. As woman, time does seem to slow things down. So losing may not be as fast this time as the first time, but as long as you are losing your not gaining. We all have our times when we fall off track but you can start over anytime you want and you are doing it before you gained it all back, thats good! I agree the best help is a support group. Find one or start your own with people in your area. cheri -
Lapband Vs. Sleeve?
123crod replied to PrincessDaffodil's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My doctor also recommended the Sleeve and the Bypass. I agree with the above posters. You need to really do your research and I would say talk to people one-on-one too. I have friends that have had the Band and 2 moved on to the Sleeve and one to the Bypass. I am not sure why it did not work for them. But you get what you put into it no matter what WLS you choose. Go on the Sleeve boards and read the complications and then also read the Band complications and then read the success for each. I know a lot of people who have done great with the Band and a few that haven't but like I said you get out what you are willing to put into the journey. I have been very happy with my Band and this month makes 3 years for me and I would do it again in a minute!! Best luck to you. You a hard choice to make but don't get so excited that you don't research it all! Cheri -
Wow people get so mad over the smallest things! We have to be able to talk about other things. They are not naming names. Just discussing. We should all be able to post with no mispelled words or very few. I am a Graphic Designer/Typesetter for a printing company. I look at words all day and after 30 years of looking at 1000's of words and different fonts in an eight hour day it is very hard for me to proof-read my own work so I have a proof-reader (person). You would be surprised by how many mispelled words are in the newspaper, magazines and published books or on professional websites. Why? Because the person who types it thinks it is right as they set it up just as I would and think it is right because it looks right as we have been looking at it for hours and those words just look right. There are many times I might set a contract book anywhere from 100 - 500 pages of type and I do not read it I only format it. Not my job to read every word and check spelling only to fomat it You can use spell check but it will check the words but if you used the wrong word and it is still spelled right it will not draw your attention to it such as you wanted to say lose but you wrote loose, it will not correct it as it is a word just the wrong word. I have a very bad habit of mis-spelling Protein sometimes I spell it right . . . but other times I spell it protien and many others do too. I think we all should reread our post before we push that button. It only takes a minute. It will keep the people from the other forums from visiting and going back and say those LapBanders can't spell must be the Band. lol So if you find a mispelled word in my posts and I am sure you can . . . it might be I had a long day at work so just insert the correct word as you read . . . thanks so much. I will start reading twice now before I push that button. cheri (Sometimes I capitalize my name and sometimes I don't depends on my mood. So that doesn't count)

I freeze my premier protien ready to drink shakes after I blend them with the PB (powdered Peanut Butter) and let it freeze about an hour and then blend it again to make sure it does not separate. I have a small blender with a ready to drink glass on it and I freeze it and eat it like ice cream. Because it blends it it larger and fluffy and it tastes just like chocolate ice cream. I am a night eater and it is perfect. takes about an hour to eat frozen and it 160 calories 5 carbs 3 grams of fat. Yummy!! 30 grams of protein. Been doing this the last 2 weeks!! I buy them at Sam's 18 FOR $18.99

Anyone Suffer From Anxiety While They Were Still Fat?
123crod replied to Nicci's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have clinical depresssion and social anxiety. I have only known what it wasfor about 10 years. I take a small dose of meds. I have been on many meds to find what works for me. I did 3 years of seeing a therapist and do so much better now. That is why I got the Band in the first place. My Docs say the depressions is a chemical imbalance so I really can't fix that, so I told my husband I could not deal with the weight and the depression and anxiety so I wanted help with the weight . . . .so thats why I got the Band. I also have panic attacks, my younger brother suffered with them for years and he would always go to the ER. So now that I get them, from seeing him and learning coping skill when I have a panic attack I already know what it is and I know I will not die I just have to wait it out. Mine are only about 15 minutes and I just push myself through them. Anxiety is a strange thing but you need to learn some coping skills to deal with them. Mine are the same as before band and I am 3 years out this month. It is mind over body when it comes to a panic attack. You said you know your heart is healthy so just remember it will on last for minutes and be gone. Exercise is good for your heart, anxiety and depression. I think as time goes on you will be able to push through it for the good feeling you will get from your work out. Remember stress is not good for weightloss. best wishes! cheri -
Some people do and some don't. Drs are so different! I never drank one until I was 2½ years post op. Does not bother me but I try not to drink them since they are bad for you and keep you from drinking your Water. But I have never found anything to take the place of my diet coke . . .still searching. If you do try one pour it over ice and let it sit a little bit. But remember they are like chips if you drink one you will want another one, so if you can keep from doing it I say don't. Cheri

Believe or not I go to a support group where we all have different wls surgeries and we all like each other and get along nobody is better or less than the next one. It does happen but you have to look for it. Some gastric people seem to think they are better because their surgery was more complicated than the band. Who cares, I say come back here whenever you want everyone needs support and I don't think you will find that many judgemental people here. I will alway be happy to talk to you just PM me!! Good luck on your journey, Remember God never closes a door with out opening another one for you . . .maybe this is what is right for you!!

I do not think a part of roll would do anything to you. You have to see it for what is was . . . roll, not a cheesecake. Forgive yourself and move on. Most likey it is not the last roll you will meet! LOL cheri

Okay I am right at 3 years out still not at goal and falling off track last couple of weeks. Lost 84 now up about 8 of that. I have also been sick and no workout about 3 weeks and some junk. I do really good on a meal plan that is already set in stone and I just have to eat it and move on without thinking about it. If you all could look at the following information that I would be taking in if I choose one of these. Some are higher carbs but the carbs only come from high Fiber oatmeal, no flour or bad carbs. If you would look and see if one of the combinations sounds smart to you and let me know your opinion PLEASE. I just need a couple of weeks to get me in the right direction without going totally shakes only. If you think this sounds totally dumb thats okay too tell me I am trying to figure something out. Just home from Doctor (flu) and 8 lbs is on my mind. Calories 840 Protien 102 Fat 16 Carbs 80 Sugar 6 Fiber 34 or Calories 960 Protien 106 Fat 18½ Carbs 105 Sugar 8 Fiber 41 cheri

Any Peeps In The Se Houston Area? Support Group?
123crod replied to radarluv's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not too far from League City would love to join a Facebook group or in person group. I did this with people I met her 3 years ago and it was great! My e-mail is crodriguez17@comcast.net. My only suggestion is meet at a public place until you get to know your new friends. We started out at Starbucks and then after we all knew each other we met at peoples homes. cheri -
Good luck and be careful in Mexico. keep us posted on how you are doing!! cheri

So sorry to hear about your friend, my prayers for you and your friend's family. Was this in Houston? As your Dr is Dr Hollis and he is in Houston. I think it will help people in the area to know where not to go during an emergency. My Dr was very good about problems or questions on the weekend or after hours. I could call the answering service and get a call back in about 5 minutes with an offer to meet in in his office. That being said he has since relocated and the new Drs I have no idea what they would do in a emergency. Will find out ASAP! Again so sorry for your loss. cheri

I just don't understand why people say they can feel the band, alone in their body, and it freaks them out. I think that is a mental thing and that you can't let your mind drift off that way. Is there really a documented case where the body rejected the band or was it a mental thing? You can drive your self crazy with all the what - if's. Just go with the flow follow instructions and let it work for you and if there ever is a complication you will deal with it right . . . what choice will you have. Relax . . stress it not helpful in weightloss. cheri

Has Anyone Had Problems With Watermelon?
123crod replied to mas79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have trouble eating watermelon too. I think it is that I try to eat it too fast. Even when I sit and think about it I just want to swallow it and it it all come. So I have stayed away. It might sound stupid but I think my pouch rejects certian textures of food Cheri -
Has Anyone Tried Freezing Premier Protein?
123crod replied to adorkbl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, yes and yes!! I put it in a small blender and whip it up. I added some PB (powderd peanut butter) in it. let it freeze almost and then (still in the little blender) turn it on again and let it whip up again and then continue to freeze. Everytime I fall off track it usually involves ice cream fat free but non-the-less ice cream. This one little ready to drink shake whipped up tasted so much like ice cream. I do not sleep at night until 3 or 4 am so I want to eat. I ate one last night it takes about an hour to eat the one serving shake when it it whipped and frozen. I was in a little bit of Heaven. let me know it you like it! cheri
