My last one was too tight but I could drink just not eat. Did liquids for 4 days and then mushies even though my Dr says only mushies for the rest of the day of fill. I figured it would losen up in a week or so but it was about 1½ month during that time I got stuck alot and vomited alot. Once I vomited and broke a blood vessel so I vomited blood once and blood clots the next time 15 minutes later. It was a Sunday so I called my Dr. he told me I broke a blood vessal and told me if i was not unstuck in a hour to call him and meet him at his office for a complete unfill. He told me to slowly slip Water and in about 30 minutes the little piece of chicken moved through. He put me on liquids for 5 days but I kept my fill. When I had my fill I had floro and was fine until the next day. It is not worth it to be too tight just go get a tiny bit taken out maybe ½ of what you just had added. If you can not drink water make sure you go back fast you can not wait that out. You have to be able to drink at all times. I will never be like that agian put my band at risk of slipping. Be careful and take care! Cheri

? for Bandsters that have fills under fluoro
123crod replied to juliansmom2003's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Fluro is not to get you to restriction as fast as you can. It is to double check the flow and placement of the band. My Dr. is very careful with fills I am 9 months out and 64lbs down and only 3.5 cc in a 10 cc AP band. -
Think Ive ruined my band....
123crod replied to kels764's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do not think you stretched your pouch. You should go on liquids for 2 or 3 days and then mushies 2 days and see how you feel. Call your doctor and see if you can come in for a floro or x-ray to check it out. But keep stopping at ½ cup hungry or not. We ALL get hungry sometime you just have to stop hungy or not. Fill up with extra Water. Good luck!! Stop stressing it will only make you feel worse Cheri -
I do not have saline in my band. My Doctor put something else he said was thicker. He also asked me if if allergic to shellfish. Does anyone know what this Fluid is? Thanks Cheri

Is Lap Band the right surgery for me? Or Roux en Y?
123crod replied to ainnjay's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think that if you go into this knowing all the facts and be willing to follow the rules. You should do good with the band. It takes being able to say to yourself I can do this and no emotional eating or headhunger is going to stop me. If you are a emotional eater reads some books or get some counseling, because you are losing your friend (food) you will have to find another way to comfort yourself. I know some people fail at this some I think they do not really follow the rules all the . . . and for some the band just does not work for them. Not sure why. I have had no problems with the band and I am 8 months out. I have gone from 251 to 190 right now. It has been easy for the most part, but I was an emotional eater so I have struggle with losing my friend that comforted me. But it was the best choice for me and I am glad I did it Cheri Talk to people who have had both surgerys and then make your choice. Hope that helps. -
My surgeon does his own fills. He only uses floro. It does not hurt is just something to stand in front of and it shows your band and port and everything else. Shows the water going down when you drink. I would be mad and request that your surgeon does it. But with the floro it will just be one poke. Cheri

Lost 39 pounds(!!) but I don't get it?
123crod replied to a dairyfarmers chubbywife's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have lost 60 lbs and have dropped only 2 jeans sizes. The bigger the sizes I think the more you have to lose to get into a smaller size. I think it is easier to go from a 10 to 8 them from a 18 to a 16. Not sure why? -
Let's be honest....please!
123crod replied to willbaskinnygirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Counseling, counseling is all I can say. It works. Find yourself a good counsler and go talk about your emotional eating and find out what is behind it. You put your life on the line when you went to surgery. You made a big investment, now spend a small amount more and get to the root of the problems I wish you luck and hope things work out for you! We all could benefit from counseling!! I have! Cheri -
My Doctor said when you are ready but not in the hospital please!! Cheri

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Banded on 12/30/2009 and struggling
123crod replied to Dachsygirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just because you make the food for your family does not mean you have to eat the same things. I do not eat what my husband eats. Are you keeping up with your fills? If not try to do that. What about Water that is very important. Put kids in a wagon and take them for a walk. Or take a short walk when your husband can keep the kids for 30 minutes. I keep my 2 grandbabies 2 days a week about 9 hours each day. One is 3 ands one is nine months both girls and when they are gone it it hard not to just fall in the bed, but even if I do I still get up and do my exercise for the day. I work at home doing computer work all day and I sit all day. I am at home alone with all my husband's junk food and believe me he is the king of junk food and has never gained a pound in 29½ytear of marriage. Trust me it calls my name from the cabinets, “Come see me old friend I miss you, I can make you feel better". Evil food!! You just have to put yourself first, sounds selfish but you want to be healthy for your kids as they grow. I do not know if you husband is supportive or not but you have to make right choices for yourself. And you need lots of support. When I go through stages of head hunger or I want to emotional eat. I have to go very very low carb for a couple of days to kill the hunger. The less carbs you eat the less hunger you will be if it is true hunger. Head hunger you might need to see a counselor to help with that or read a few books. I have a good one I will try to find the name for you. It is a workbook. Do you go to support meeting? They are very important it is easier when you are around people going though the same thing you are. I go to 4 different ones right now. I know you have small kids and might not be able to go off a lot. But find someone in your area that has the band, invite them over or meet for coffee once a week. it will make all the difference. I have met several people on these boards who are in my area and I meet with them in one of my meetings. Post a thread and look for people in your area. They may have kids too and be looking for someone to talk to on the phone or meet somewhere I will private message you my e-mail adress and phone number if you want to talk. or private messgae me your and I will call you. Hope all this helps Cheri -
I do and so does my friend we both had a fill about a month ago. I do not have it all the time just sometimes. She seems to have it more. As the band loosens some from fill it should stop. Sound funny huh?
-
I have not been banded that long only 8 months, but when I go a few weeks with out losing everyone tells me to change something up. Change what you eat or what time you eat, exercise more or exercise less for a couple of days always seems to work. Do you need a fill maybe? Cheri

Cookbooks or Books on Lapband Support
123crod replied to lightnhealthy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought several books from Amazon about lapband support. The best one is “Weight Loss Surgery with the Adjustable Gastric Band“ Everything you need to know before and after surgery to lose weight successfully by Robert W. Sewell, M.D., FACS. It has a lot or personal stories in it too the good and the bad. I have read it several times and still pick it up and read portions of it. Cheri -
This board is a great place to come for support. There are some very nice people here and a lot of advice but always listen to your Doctor first. I wish you good luck with the band. I am 8 months out now and have had no problems at all. I am down 60 lbs. Would be happy to talk to you anytime Cheri

Passed my 1 year point, beyond goal
123crod replied to KartMan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations you look great! You should be very proud of yourself. Cheri -
I crushed everything for about 3 months and then I could not take it any more. Now I drink a large cup of coffee in the morning to loosen my band and then I take them (pills) broken in half and have no problem. Some one told me they stay in your pouch but they don't because, I have all my fills under flor. and there are no pills in my pouch. Hope that helps Cheri

Banded 9 months so tired anyone else?
123crod posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been banded for 8 months. I am down 60 lbs. But I am so tired all the time. I have seen the Dr. twice in last 4 months for blood tests and everything is fine. But I fall asleep during the day when I am suppose to be working and sleep for hours. Sleep all weekend except to get up do my workout and right back in bed. I drink all my Water and get my protien in. I also eat carbs, take my vitaims. I workout every night 40-60 minutes. My Dr. thinks my depression is the cause of the tiredness but I just do not buy it. I have had clinical depression for years and have not changed my meds in about 2 years so I do not think it is that. I have been more depressed since around Christmas time and then lost my brother right before New Years, but I am in counseling for that. Taking meds for my Thyroid but I was tested twice to make sure dose was right. But It has not helped give me any energy. I had a B12 shot last Dr visit but it did not phase me. Anyone else experiencing this. I would love to put a stop to this. Thanks for any input!! Cheri -
I like Muscle Milk Light. I buy it at target or walmart taste good, ready to drink. Cheri
