Why couldn't YOU lose weight without the lap band?
123crod replied to amberakamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can lose it no problem....... just can not maintain it. In a couple of years it returns. Cheri -
Good attitude! I never had that attitude when I am heavy I get more depressed and close myself off from people. Now that I have dropped 80lbs. I am just starting to come out of the shell I have been hiding away in. Cheri

Can't eat solids....am I too tight??
123crod replied to Talital's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try drinking some hot coffee or hot tea before you eat. It tends to open your band some. Cheri -
Just Can't Drink these Shakes!
123crod replied to Angel76's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try making your own protien shake. I used to use Greek yogurt and a scoop of Protein powder and some frozen fruit and blend it all up . . . it is so good. You can also use any other yogurt that is high in protein. Cheri -
no restriction! how many cc's did it take you?

I am 15 months out and down 80 lbs. I think you need to give up the idea of feeling "full" just eat the amount you know you should and eat the foods you know you should forget about the full feeling it never comes for some people. You just have to stop when you know you have eaten the right amount and your body will start to be happy with that portion size. I only have 3.8ccs now in my 10cc - just had .2ccs removed today. Everyone does not need a lot of fill. You may be waiting for a feeling that you will never have. Cheri Cheri -
CA7696 - I think you are just trying to be a good friend. Friends should be able to talk to each other about all kinds of things. Maybe you can lead by example and they will see your progress and want the same. Cheri

Why am I sabotaging myself?
123crod replied to ISING2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think people should not be looking for the fills to stop all your eating patterns. I have been banded for 15 months today and have lost 80 lbs so far. Today I had to go have some fill removed, just .2ccs. I now have 3.8 ccs in my 10cc band and that is all I can handle. I think people concentrate too much on the amount of fill they have, some of it has to be self-discipline and forcing yourself to change your eating habits. Some of you have more in your first fill than I have in 15 months. Finding out what is behind the head hunger is the best thing you can do for yourself. Cheri -
Need some prayer for my son Robert, God needs to open a door for him at work. God has always been faithful to hear our prayers. My husband and I could not have raised this young man without having a relationship with Christ. So if you have a few moments I ask you to say a prayer for him, that God's will, will be done in his life and whatever job is God's will, will happen. Thanks so much!! Cheri

09Freedom, So sorry you are having such trouble. I have throwup since I was first banded. So far no slip and I hope it never does. For some reason my “stuck” never goes down it always comes up since the beginning. I am finally getting to a point where it WILL go down if I wait it out. I think my gag reflex just happens too easy and that is why it comes up. I have not had a fill since February, but had to go low carb (not no carb) to continue losing weight. Cheri

Okay time for an update from all July 2009 Bandsters. I am down 80 lbs and would like to lose 20 more if possible. How about everyone else? Cheri

I eat the Morning Star sausage patties on and off since I was banded. I could eat them better the first 6 months. Now at 14 months out I can still eat them but must go very slow and chew well. I love them!!!! Cheri

Proteing Shots in the Tube
123crod replied to toyrenee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Dr. said to stay away from the Bullets (GNC) as they were not good for your Kidneys? Not sure why but just passing it along. I drank them on weeks when I had a hard time getting all my protien in. They taste bad but it is only a small amount and you can drink just half and close them back up and put in icebox if you want to. Cheri -
Self-pay with slippage. Now what?

Good one!!! -
I hate vomiting too. I have suffered many nights over the years when my stomach hurt instead of vomiting and getting it over with. I have been banded for 14 months down 80 lbs and for some reason I have vomited on and off since I was first banded. Not from being too tight but from my own mistakes. First year of being banded when I would get stuck it NEVER went down it always came up. Some of it was my fault not chewing good, eating too big of bites, etc. , but I think some of it is just my body, my gag reflex. Now finally in the last few months when I get stuck it takes a few minutes but it does go down feels so funny to me for it to go down. Do not let your fear stop you from getting Banded, you might vomit some or you may never vomit at all, I have Banded friends banded longer than me and have never vomited at all. Everyone is different and everyone's body is different. But I think you should know it might happen, but you will live through it I have. I love my band even when it does not do just what I want it to. Cheri

what city and state are you from and what occupation
123crod replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I live in Hitchcock, Texas and I have done Graphics for 25 years. Wow there are a lot of nurses on here. My daughter-in-law is a nurse and I agree nurses are so busy caring for others that they don't have time to take care of themselves. -
have any of you wished you did gastric bypass instead
123crod replied to racheyrach's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally agree!! Sure the fast weightloss would be nice, but not worth the risk. Cheri -
My friend who is also banded uses it in homemade protien shakes and also anthing she cooks, she grinds it up. She aways puts it in her meatballs and they are yummy! Cheri

6 years ago I started on Zoloft for 3 years and changed to many different ones before I came back to Zoloft. It is a great med. It does cause you to be sick to your stomach the first couple of weeks but then it passes. The only bad side effect is the drymouth, but helps you drink your Water. And there is some sexual side effects also. But after it builds to full strenght at 4 - 6 weeks it will help you. I take meds for clinical depression and another for anxiety and had no trouble since getting banded taking them. I also had panic attacks several times a week but since being banded I have only had 2 in 14 months. Also stay away from grapefruit in any form. Cheri

Dr. Hadar Spivak - I highly recommend Dr. Spivak
123crod replied to claraluz's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I too have been banded by Dr. Spivak. In July 2009. I love him and all of his staff. He is a special Dr who really cares about you one month after surgery and one year after surgery. Cheri -
I do vomit and have on and off since I got the band. I go into the dry heaves sometimes after vomiting. Most times I bring it on myself by not chewing good enough. I am more than year out and food has just gotten where it will go down instead of up everytime. As far as the weightloss slowing down. When that happened to me and I had to switch to low carb, NOT no carb just low carb and I have continued to lose. Cheri

Need some advice, inspiration.. anything!
123crod replied to catincanada's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had no idea so many people have lost that much with the band. That is great!! I do love my Band and am so happy to have it, but . . .I still might have gone the other way if I had the money who knows? Just research and really do talk to people they will give you their story about the WLS. Cheri -
Thanks for the chicken dance!
123crod replied to JMinDallas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does not work everytime for me either, but when it does I am happy for the knowledge. Cheri -
Wow, I bet he felt better after he got all that off of his chest. I have been band over a year and I get tired of the same old topics too, but a year ago that was me asking for information and people answered my posts and help me so I say help where you can and be nice. There is a lot of nastiness on here sometimes too. Cheri
