Self Pay Doing Phycologist And Nutricianist Sat.. When.....
123crod replied to flab u less's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was self pay and schedule first visit. If you are self pay and in good health except being overweight you could maybe go the same week. I went 1½ days later. Cheri -
Nice post! Great success! Cheri

I bought a new jazzercise DVD and love it. cheri

Okay tell us where you are getting it from and how much are you taking? Also cost to do this Cheri

I think the small goals are good that is what I did, but I do remember getting to 6 months post op and just thinking I had done “amazing” and let myself have a free day and then another one and that went on for about a month. I did not gain but it took me about 3 weeks to start losing again even when I was on track. So that's where just having one goal helps as you are not finished till you get there. I don't know what happen but me and a fellow Banded friend banded 2 day apart just lost our minds when we hit 6 months. But I did get on track and continued to lose, but if I had had one goal maybe that would not have happened. I think the ones that do have small goal do things like the charm bracelets and get a new charm at 10 lbs or whatever they set. I like that idea. Cheri

I guess now you know it is not the easy way out! Which I agree it is not, but it can be done with small changes in your lifestyle. I lost 84 lbs and have maintained the loss. I am 2½ year out and would do it again in a minute. I was off work for 3 days but I have a desk job and really would have like to have at least one more day off. I have had no real problems. There are foods I can not eat anymore but it is a small price to pay for having the weight off. I doubt you will have regrets either. Good that your husband is supportive but don't worry about the others they will come around and is what they say really that important? You can do this! Welecome to the boards, I think this is a place to come to often so you can be in touch with people who really know what you are going through. Cheri

If feel so sorry for you. Must be a terrible going through that. I think you might not have found the right therapist. You should feel comfortable seeing them. You could always take someone you love and trust with you. I had my husband go through 3 years of therapy with me even though it had nothing to do with our relationship to make sure I was always honest with myself maybe dumb but it helped me. I think all of us who get banded have an eating disorder of some kind right? Just not to the extreme as you have gone. I will be praying for you and hope that you find the inner peace you need. Cheri

I say make small goals and then move down as you go along. Plus your surgeon can give his/her opinion too. Cheri

chicken has always been hard for me after about 6 months. My surgeon told me you should always be able to eat chicken, but that has not been the case for me. Any meat that has been microwaved is not going down for me either. Cheri

Can You Hide/tuck/tape Excess Skin?
123crod replied to Kim Lap Band Talk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow great idea! Cheri -
Mine is in center of chest just at bottom of bra line. Weird place but seems to stay out of the way. But now it really sticks out. Cheri

What Do I Do With All These Feelings?!
123crod replied to Twillwood's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I really do not understand why people feel the need to keep it quite? Even with you best friends? I know everything about my best friends and the same for them with me. One of my best friends has never weighed more than 105 lbs in her life. You sound like you need someone to talk to about so many emotions. Why not the best friends? Or maybe go see a therapist. I did 3 years with a therapist and it did help to get everything out in the open. I am not saying its not okay to keep it to yourself . . . but maybe it would help to tell a few people you feel comfortable with. I think it helps when you do not keep everything inside, I think it make us feel alone in whatever we feel. Just my feelings. Cheri -
I got lucky when I got banded I lost almost all physical hunger BUT head hunger is always there. You will have to deal with it one way or another. Cheri

I was also lead to believe the Bypass would be better for me but I was self pay and could not afford it much more than the LapBand. I might would have done it if I could have just because I wanted something done. But now 2½ years later and down 84 lbs and an easy journey, I am so glad I did not chose to have my insides all cut up. I feel I would be one of those people who would not get all the nutrition and Vitamins I would have needed. Tonight on TLC (Wednesday) they have a program call “My 600 lb Story” tonight is the last one. But there have been 4 more before this and they take someone more than 600 lbs and they show them having the bypass and then they followed them for 7 years and show their ups and down and struggles. They go year by year each year telling how much was loss or regained year after year for 7 years. They show them when the are having excess skin removed and in the hospital for some setback. It is a very very good show. The people in the story are very honest and from what I have seen it is not an easy road to go down. I am so happy I had the LapBand over the Bypass. But I have met some people who did not do good with the Band and revised to bypass or sleeve. Cheri

My Doc Asked Me To Be A Mentor.
123crod replied to hopetolose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is great! Newbies need mentors. Your Dr thinks you have done a great job. Congratulations!! Cheri -
I do not know why it takes so long. But at first I could feel it in the office or walking to the car. Then it would take about 6 hours and after about 1½ years it would take about a week and then wow it would hit. Maybe air moves, or the fuild moves around heck I don't know, you would have to experience it. lol Cheri

Wow 4ccs that is a lot. I was about 2 years with only 3.5 cc and it was sometimes hard for me. My Dr went very slowly on ½ cc at a time. But my fills always took a week or 2 to kick in and twice I had to get a small unfill. But Drs. all have their own way to do it. What size band do you have? Great work on the weightloss!! Cheri

Gained All Weight-Can I Still Get A Fill
123crod replied to madikayt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would not do a complete unfill. People say it never feels the same. Just get a fill and start over. Cheri -
I have read the information on that site. I would be very worried about mixing my meds with something new. Scary thought. But you know we ALL would like an easy fix. I now remember people going to get the shots when I was younger can't remember the results of anyone though. I just think that if it really worked wouldn't the USA have more skinny people? Its not like it is a hidden product. I would not spend the $100 for it. But someone come back and tell us the results I am curious to see what happens to you. But happy with my band, but the fat person inside me is curious Cheri
-
Make sure you come back and tell us the results good or bad. Good luck!! Cheri

Well I did google it and there are many warnings about it. I say you paid all this money for the surgery, why not just step up your exercise instead of starving yourself. I could probably do it because since surgery I really never have any hunger but I would like to keep what hair I have and what muscle I have. Anyway to each his own, just be careful is you choose to do this. Cheri

Going On Vacation, Should I Get A Slight Un-Fill?
123crod replied to Marla290's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The difference like night and day. I was glad I did not have to go back to were I was. It seemed to make me hit the green zone. That is the 2nd time in 2 ½ years I only had .2 taken out after a fill and it really makes a difference, Being too tight is no fun at all. I but I do make it clear to the Dr that i only want that much taken out before he touches me. Cheri -
Going On Vacation, Should I Get A Slight Un-Fill?
123crod replied to Marla290's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you are too tight for a normal day you should go get a slight unfill about like a 1/4 cc which should make a lot of difference. But to just get an unfill so you can eat more food for the fun of it still say no. But maybe a slight unfill will help but when you come you can keep it that way and eat better I had a fill months ago ½cc and in two weeks it was too much but I went in and told the Dr I would only let him take about a small amount so he promised. He took .03 out and I was still ahead by .02 and it was perfect months later. I say never let them take it all out unless you have medical reason for it. I have hear too many peopl say the never feel the same again. Cheri -
Going On Vacation, Should I Get A Slight Un-Fill?

Just my opinion, keep everything the same and just do like you do at home. It's a lifestyle change. Be careful in Mexico and have fun! Cheri
