Help!! Almost Two Years Out And I Am Stuck
123crod commented on racheros73's blog entry in Blog 95421
You really just have to start totally over. I had a little time like that at 6 months post op, but I returned to liquids and then mushies and then solids. I myself would never let them unfil me all the way as too many people say it never feels the same. But that is just my opinion. Do you have a support group to go to. It makes such a difference. Find you a buddy here and exchange phone numbers or e-mails and keep each other accountable. Maybe try low carb for a while to get yourself aways from the bad carbs and you should see some results. Cheri -
I had a friend (Banded) and she would go there all the time and then she started reading the nutrition and was shocked at the carbs and calories. Cheri

If you are so newly Banded you should be able to do things like chicken, chicken salad or Breakfast for lunch or dinner (eggs or omlette). I had my times when I could eat salad and times when I couldn't. But a cabo salad could work. Just take your time and like everyone else said chew, chew, chew. Cheri

Eat slowly and then you can feel it before it is too late. Cheri

I guess I am just weird, but after I was Banded I started watching the food Network. Oh and Cake Boss and all of those . . . and the one where the guy goes around trying to break food contests like eating 20 oz steak or world largest hamburger plus fries. I guess since I couldn't eat it I wanted to watch it. But it didn't seem to make me have cravings. I still watch cupcake wars and cake boss. Maybe I am weird. Or just checking in on my old neighborhood!!! cheri

Okay, This weekend I went to the OH (Obesity Help) WLS Conference in Houston. I went with 3 other friends who have the band too. We had so much fun!!! But . . . . Why do people seem to think people with the band are a lower class of people than those who have gastric bypass or the sleeve? Several times when we were seated at tables with others we would discuss what surgery we had and the gastric bypass people really would be totally turned off to people with the band. One couple even said “Don't worry we won't move" (to another table). What? Please are you superior to me because you had a large amount of your insides removed? Or maybe your surgery cost more than mine? Oh I know you lost weight faster than me? Now the speakers and promoters are very band friendly as were the venders but the people. Could not believe it. There were a lot of Bandsters there but we were out numbered. Anyone else experience this? Cheri

Way To Search For Threads With No Replies?

Patients who are planning to have lap band surgery are asked to quit smoking six to eight weeks before surgery. Patients who do not smoke have fewer complications and it takes at least a month for the lungs to recover. Smoking damages the lungs which increases the chance of surgical complications, anesthetic problems, and developing pneumonia after surgery. Also, the goal of weight loss surgery is about improving your health and smoking contradicts this desired result. This is what I found out about it. I have read some Drs won't do surgery if you smoke. Not sure just what I have read. You should stop and add to your new healthy lifestyle your heading towards. My adult son just stopped at Christmas time and I am so happy and proud of him. cheri

Over Eating After An Unfill
123crod replied to dramastarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just be careful about what you eat. I do not understand why the Drs feel the need to take out so much even.1 of a cc makes a huge difference. Maybe you can get in earlier to get a fill. Hang in there! The times time I had to have a small unfill one was 0.1 cc and it was like night and day in the difference. I also had to have another .2 cc taken out after I went in for ½ cc and I tell them when I go in there I am too tight but I only want .10 taken out and if that is not enough I will come back again. I even hold my hand over my port till they agree lol. Cheri -
I was just reading about it. So sad anyone has to go through such a thing. I think I have problems that I can not deal with but other people are dealing with their own problems that are so much worse. I hope you will get some relief as you lose weight. I will ask my friend about hers when I see her at support group and send you a message if she has any suggestions as of what to do to help or what helped her. She is a charge nurse and on her feet all day. Cheri

Shiki .so terrible for you. So sorry you have to live with that. I am gonna have to read up on it. I pray that when you have your surgery it will go away as my friends did. Cheri

To Those Of You Who Say You Don't Have Time For Exercise...
123crod replied to Violet953's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Since you mentioned me by name I will reply. You have to admit IT SEEMED you were trying to tell everyone that your way was the right way and if we did not do it that way we were full of excuses. In my opinion a rant is one post not post after post SEEMING TO attack people who do not see things your way. But I think it was very nice that you agree to disagree and said your were sorry to Hummingbird. And I too am sorry if I came on too strong and seemed rude, sometimes the written word sounds different to everyone who reads it as for the tone. These boards are for everyone and their opinion in my opinion. Cheri -

To Those Of You Who Say You Don't Have Time For Exercise...
123crod replied to Violet953's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I think it is wrong to try to push your beliefs on everyone. Okay you posted a “little rant” and everyone understood your point, but enough already. You are not gonna change peoples minds. We are all adults here and no reason to be ugly. Hummingbird needs no defense but I have to say for 2½ years I have been reading her posts and she knows her stuff. She has helped people, been encouraging, honest and tells you like it is. You could learn something from her. I am a person who has to work out but I have banded friends who lost 100 lbs in 6 months no work outs. Everyone is different. Let it go. Cheri -
To Those Of You Who Say You Don't Have Time For Exercise...

I have seen people lose both ways some working out and some not. I on the other hand have to workout even to maintain but I am 51 years old. Cheri -
Always know where the restroom is. When you are first banded and getting fills, you never know. I got stuck alot the first year no matter what. If you feel like it might come up don't wait, because it will. I am 2½ years out and that does not happen anymore but did at first. That is the first thing I always look for is where is the bathroom. I still get stuck sometimes but it does not come up, I just have to wait it out till it goes down and take my food home. I can still visit and talk when I am stuck just can't eat. As far as food try to stick to things you know will go down. Sometimes you just have to consider it a treat. Once for Breakfast I wanted biscuts with gravy (I know it is not healthy) but I would have rather had 3 bites of that and end up stuck then scambled eggs that day. I was of course stuck after 3 bites and that was it but it was so good. Cheri
