    Okay, well I today I found out that my Insurance is not going to cover my procedure so I'm probably going to have to self pay (that sucks)! The good news is that because I will be self pay the whole process is gonna speed up quite considerably.... skeeered now! lol:scared2:

    Attend Weight Loss Surgery Seminar.... CHECK

    Okay so I feel like I've got the ball rolling... no scratch that... that's what I felt like last week when I signed up for the seminar :wink: I feel awesome - like eventually things are starting to happen. I attended Dr. Nick Nicholson's seminar in Plano TX last night and was pleasantly surprised. In view of the fact that I had to come to terms with the fact that yes, I am morbidly obese (ughhh don't like to think about that too much) I should be pretty down today because of that, but actually, I feel great - like there is light at the end of the tunnel! What an awesome speaker Dr. Nick is - he had all my questions answered before I could even ask them. I'm done waiting... lets get on with the show! Waiting for confirmation of benefits from the insurance company...tick tick tick..

    Well I attended the seminar last night and WOW - If I had any doubts about this surgery before they are now effectively gone. Dr. Nick is an awesome speaker and I was happy that the seminar was not pushy - just the facts and very informative. I am totally confident that Dr. Nick will take the best care of me before, during and after the surgery! Can't wait for the next step.... approx. 1 week.

    Hi deck75.... I researched Dr. Nick and attended his seminar last night. What an awesome person he is. He did an excellent job of covering every aspect of the surgery! I would recommend that anybody who is considering this surgery in the Dallas area should attend his seminar. Thanks for your input!

    I've read some posts on here about the threat of Pneumonia after surgery and having to cough a lot to get rid of all the congestion. Where is the congestion coming from - how is it caused by the surgery? Any info welcome. Thanks

    I am a little concerned about all the talk of Pneumonia... how is that a side effect of the surgery. I'm worried cos I had pneumonia at the end of last year and its not something I wanna be vulnerable to. Any info welcome. Thanks!

    A big Thanks to all who have already responded it has helped a lot... gosh but I didnt think this decision was going to be so difficult! How did you all decide who to go with? I am so anxious to begin this journey and feel like I've hit a brick wall trying to make a decision as to which doc to choose!

    Hey Erin, Congrats on your surgery yesterday - I've been reading your posts pre-op and was thinking about u yesterday! I've not had my surgery yet so dont have an answer for you about your gas pains, sorry. Good luck with your band - I'm very excited about getting mine so I may have some questions for you in the hopefully not too distant future! Take care of yourself!

    Hi, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) 2-1/2 months ago and have been on meds to correct it since then. I was wondering if anyone else had been on Thyroid meds when they enquired about lapband surgery and if they were approved by their insurance company. I am worried that I won't be approved because they may want to wait and see if the thyroid meds is gonna help with my weight loss first. The only thing that makes me optimistic is that this is a new condition (I've had bloodwork done several times in the last few years and thyroid was fine) and I've been overweight for forever. Any input welcome. Thanks.

    Hey Heather... I checked out Dr Wade Barker's website earlier today and although they need to find someone who can spell properly to do their website, the information contained therein was quite informative ! I am going to see my regular doctor tomorrow afternoon for a referral and I wanna see who he recommends... so far I've heard good things about Dr. Wade Barker and also Dr. Jayaseelan in Plano... Will post who he recommends tomorrow after appt. :thumbup:
