Ok... this may be TMI but ... anybody else having probs with constipation??? I have IBS and have had for years but only occasionally have I had to take anything. When my IBS acts up, it's usually the OTHER END of the spectrum. Feeling like I need to buy stock in fiber meds. Anyone got any suggestions? Yes... I'm drinking plenty of water. I'm about 3 weeks post-op. Should I just buy some Benefiber and put it in my protein drinks? Anybody else with this prob?

You are right on. Called and they said lemon/limes were fine. I love my water REALLY cold w/1 lemon wedge and 1 lime wedge! So... I'm going by the grocery store on the way home! hahahaha!

I really like lemons in my water but I'm thinking that Veronica said to avoid citrusy items. Anybody recall the suggestions on this?

    December Delights 2009

Hey! I was banded 12/28 and am also a diabetic. I was told by my dr that sometimes the sugar levels change immediately and sometimes there is no immediate change. Either way, he said that the bulk of change will be gradual as the weight decreases. Mine did go down immediately and I've not had to take anything since 1 day prior to surgery but - again - everyone isn't that lucky. Even though my blood sugar isn't high enough to take any insulin or Metformin, it's still a tad higher than normal. We are just all different in this area and how our body reacts. It all takes time. As far as losing weight, much like you I've lost some but nothing that I'd really write home about - YET! It's not immediate like the gastric bypass. My dr said that the majority of ppl don't feel much restriction until at least the 2nd or 3rd fill. Of the friends I've known that had the band before me, most of them really started losing weight some months post-op rather than right after surgery. Again, the word being gradual. Hang in there!

I believe Veronica told me that they were gonna have a psychologist either this month or next to go over various topics related to 'our mental issues'. Maybe it'll be next month. Chin up!

I'm right there with ya!!! AND I gained 3 lbs back when i went from liquids to mushies! Yes I know this is normal but *ugh* When is your first fill date? Mine is on 2/8. Tomorrow night is chinese buffet at my fav restaurant and it's killing me just to know that! lol! I guess I could go and get some Hot & Sour soup. Wait... I gotta tink about that! I've heard some ppl say that they had bad results with anything spicy after being banded. Anybody care to chime in on this???

I've wondered the same. I go to mushies Sun/Mon and I've heard a few ppl on here say that they did gain a couple lbs back when they went to mushies or soft foods but I think that's to be expected. I wouldn't stress over it, you're gonna lose it!)

I'm really glad you posted about your first fill b/c I've been quite uptight about the thought of mine!

I was also banded the 28th and I'm just now getting to where the gas and chest pains are subsiding, although mine weren't terrible. I went in Monday to have my staples removed and they said (at least in my case) it was considered normal. Good luck and let us know what your doctor says.

I'm gonna have to try this next week. I'm on full liquids and I have to say... Thank heavens for Chinese Hot & Sour soup!

    December Bandsters 2009

I may have to try that. At this point we are game for anything right? lol Do you have a Moe's there? It's kind of a southwestern/mexican restaurant and they have the best Tofu. I've decided that once I get to soft foods I might have to go get an 'open' burrito there with some tofu!

    December Bandsters 2009

Are you cooking tofu? I've never cooked it before but I'm so curious about it!

    December Bandsters 2009

Hey! I was banded on the 28th as well. Stopped taking my pain meds a few days ago. I also still have some pains but I had a hiatal hernia and it seems that the occasional sporadic aching is either near the largest incision or where my hernia was. I really think it just depends on the person. I took gas-x faithfully for the first 5 days and if I was a little late on a dose -OMG! I could tell! The worst experience I've had was this HORRID headache the night of 12/31! My blood pressure was sporadic and this headache started early that afternoon and went well into the late part of New Year's. I'm not sure if it was from my BP or if my BP was going up as a reaction. I hear of the 'post-op' headache on here often. As far as it feeling funny... I have friends who've had the lap-band ahead of me and one told me it was three months before her 'port area' wasn't sensitive. Another told me that it was over a month before her stomach didn't ache when she had a bm. lol... I guess we are all different huh? Did you get staples in your incisions? I did and have an appt tomorrow (well... today) to have them removed.

    December Bandsters 2009

Well the headaches are diminishing - finally. Not totally gone but not splitting my head open either. When they were really bad last night, it was making my blood pressure go up sporadically (or bp causing headache?). SO I called the 'on-call' and the dr was like... 'well... that's something that you just need to call your primary about when the sun comes up.' ummmm most primary dr's are closed until Monday (due to holidays) and if my blood pressure is 152/119 with a splitting headache... I think most ppl would call the on-call as directed on the check-0ut material. Grrrrr The comment about the tylenol - Can we take liquid tylenol with liquid lortab??? Regarding the red incisions, my two larger incisions look really red and puffy around them. Anybody else? Yes yes yes... I realize that they are only ohhhh 3 1/2 days old but it's my job to obsess! ya know! lol

    December Bandsters 2009

Anybody else have headaches after surgery? Surgery was on Monday (28th) and I've had the worst headache all evening! It feels like a slept too long/sinus/tension headache! *ugh* Could it be the Lortab?

    December Bandsters 2009

SO they moved it to today or tomorrow? Yeah! Does that mean you might be a December Bandy after all! Good for you! Keep us posted!

hahaha I haven't talked to the doc to see how big it was. I kinda suspected that I had one b/c anytime that I ate anything of spice - whew! But I really think my hernia repair is causing me more pain than the band/port. Did you experience this?
  19. I have yahoo email and messenger. Sometimes I'm on my messenger at work. My yahoo messenger is archlegend and my email is archlegend@yahoo.com I am a diabetic as well. Or should I say was??? Lol I was on Metformin 1000 2x a day. They gave me the pen for after surgery but I've not had to use it yet. I think the hernia repair hurts worse than the band/port. Did you have the same experience?

SOoooooooo... In about 15 minutes I head to the hospital. Provided everything goes smoothly I will come back home later *knock on wood & say a prayer* Hubby has promised to have a piece of cheesecake waiting for me when I wake up. Hahahaha... just making sure everyone's paying attn! My dr makes his pt's drink an entire 4.1 oz bottle of Miralax mixed with fluid at 5 pm the day before surgery and *ugh* It really did a number on me! I pray I don't have an accident once I'm rendered unconscious and that fluid from the IV hits my tummy! *chuckles* I'm sure I won't be the first right?!?! I can hear hubby in there eating his breakfast *grrrrrr* At least I can't smell it! Wish me luck! To the other having surgery today - make it all go Godspeed and good luck!)
