i have struggled with my weight for years and I always lost thoes battles :) I knew if I didn't do something different my weight wouldn't just stay the same but keep going up. I read over and over that the band is a "tool" and was worried that I could fail at this also. One thing I read that gave me the encouragment to keep going was that the band while a tool, is a "powerful tool". I am 5 days post surgery and things are going very well. I was encouraged by all the things that people have shared on this sight. i was scared before my surgery and think all the anticiption before hand was the worst. I lost 15 pounds on my pre-op diet, so that was encouraging. I havn't had the pain that others talk about and didn't take any of the prescription pain medication. I have been taking the gas-x. I have felt tired so I putter around the house and rest. I also didn't feel any nausa. My surgery was outpatient. When i came to, they asked me to get up off of the table, and walk (holding on to the wheele chair) to the room where I got dressed. I drank some apple juice, my vitals were good and home I went.I am looking forward to good things and know that I still will have to do my part but this time I also have "my powerful tool".
