OH! how I envy you...I still have about 10 weeks to wait ( waiting for private health cover to kick in ) Like you I am already trying to loose weight, mainly to help with the knee pain I am suffering at the moment but also to make sure my liver is in the best possible condition for the op. My first Dr appointment is made for 28th Sept so my op will be in the 3 weeks after that. Good luck and stay in touch, Id be interested to hear how you go, I am in Queensland, I see your in NSW. Have a great day linda

Hi, I personally would not go to the center of aust in Feb, it is way too hot, If you want to see Ayers Rock, it is best seen by air, you get a better view. I might be bias but I dont think you could come to OZ without seeing the Barrier reef. check out the you tube lin http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=search_playlists&search_query=tropical+queensland&uni=1 Campers are on a par with hire car and motels but at least you can prepare your own food if you use camper, Food will be one of your biggest costs. far northern Queensland has so much to see and all within driving distance of cairns international airport, you can even fly to Ayres Rock from there. and also go down the coast to the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour bridge (The Coat Hanger) I am sure if you search through you tube you will find so many ideas for your trip. I hope this helps enjoy your time in Oz. Linda:thumbup: -
I am new to this so please be a bit forgiving. Well I have waited the long 12 months for my private health to kick in and I have made my 1st appointment for 28th Sept with a view to having the band in october. I am getting excited now that I can see it all happening.. I have 2 sisters who are waiting on public health lists and it does not seem to be happening for them. I will keep this updated as I get further along Happy Days Linda

Hi I am linda, due to see my Dr for the first time in Sept, I have watched the surgery performed on you tube, they made reference to Hiatus hernia..does anyone know what happens if you have a hernia and does it interfere with you having the lapband op. I was told 20 yrs ago that I had a hernia but I dont ever remember having any problems with it. I hope someone can answer this for me cheers Linda

Isnt it awful that we feel the need to hide the fact that we are having lapband surgery, dont worry! I am in the same boat, I am due to have mine in october when my private health cover kicks in... I think we all have a fear of failing (yet again ) another diet. I wish you all luck..I am so glad I found this support group.. Linda
