Hey Everybody, I'm not a big writer here and I really should be. I could definitely use the guidance and support that this site has to offer. But I am still at a loss, and not in the losing way. In fact I haven't lost anything but my original pre-op 10lbs and another 15lbs once I started getting fills. So that's about 25lbs lost. My surgery date was August 3, 2009 and at the moment I am 6.5cc in a 10cc band. I completely understand its different for everyone but my doctor said that is the usual sweet spot for most they have seen. I'm still eating like normal, no let me correct that. I eat 3oz and am still sincerely hungry. I am eating literally all day long because 3oz never makes me full ever. I drink water, but my stomach just growls. So, what do I do? I eat some more. Occasionally, and I mean occasionally I actually have something get stuck and it'd be like chicken that was dry or something. I never throw up, ever. I am at a loss. I don't know what else to do and I hate going to the doctor if I hadn't lost anything. They tell me if they fill it more than its more than they'd like. Maybe I'm just one of those people that this just doesn't work for!?! I work out when I can, I love Jillian Michaels "Its not about your core, its about your whole body". I say when I can because my husband is deployed and I have 3 kids (5,2,1) and am a full time student as well as a workstudy at the college. I'm very tempted to pay out of pocket for a PE class because its not in my degree plan so the VA won't pay for it. Yes, I was in the Navy 10 years. I too am shocked I've gained so much weight seeing that I've had to maintain height/weight requirements. But, I'm just rambling now... Im just at a loss. My biggest fear is stretching my stomach and I can't even figure out if I've done that cause my hunger hasn't changed. I'm so sad. lol.

Dr. Ross Mcmahon - My surgeon - love him!
Cat Martin replied to SeattleSweetie's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I think you'll really like his practice. I enjoyed the first visit, meeting everyone. Actually, it was all so unreal that I was there to begin with, when it came time if I had any questions, I just kinda stuttered a bit. Everything that I needed to know was already answered. Surgery day came and I met with everyone involved. Afterwards Dr. McMahon himself saw my husband in the waiting room to give him my update and I saw him the next day along with the Nutritionist to tell me shakes, lots of shakes and Water, lol. I think you'll have a good experience. OMG, I rechecked the date of when you said you appointment was. You already had it!! Oh well, I'll post this anyway for others who troll this site. But do tell of your experience. -
I'm still at a loss...
Cat Martin replied to Cat Martin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much. If I didn't have scars in my stomach I wouldn't know I had surgery. I never thought about Benefiber in my shake, In fact the only time I think about Benefiber is when I am "backed up", lol. Which is actually pretty often. I never feel light, if you know what I mean. I'll have to definitely try that. But I've had 2 fills. One big one, which brought me from 4cc to 6cc and a small one getting me to 6.5cc. The last 2 times I went to the doctor for a third fill, they made me wait 2 more weeks each visit and made me come back with food logs and workout logs. So, when it came time for the most recent appointment I missed it. I'm feeling like its a waste of my time and gas. I live 2.5 hours from the doctor so all this back and forth is just getting me angry. But I'm going to schedule that visit for a fill. I hate feeling like I'm being put in a spotlight like I know who killed Kennedy. I just want to lose weight, lol. I understand the overall goal is to get back into reasonable foods and portions, but is it all bad to just stick with the shakes? Or will my metabolism really take a hit? I mean how much slower can it get!?! -

fakes and phonies...
Cat Martin replied to 2Flyguys's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, you are PMS-ing. It was you who started the thread saying you dont like this person showing pics of no sign of surgery, suggesting they are posers. I'm saying even if they never had surgery why would they come to claim they ever did, for attention! Now you want to come back at me for what, because I said fat girl? Yes, I said fat girl! You are a fat girl, I am a fat girl, everyone here is or was fat at one time. We have the surgery to make it better, we have the scars as proof. YOU posted about these people and those missing scars. I posted about about why would they. Unless those pics were you Im going to assume you are talking about someone else because I was. -

Cat Martin replied to 2Flyguys's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My question would be, "why would you post yourself as a success story period? Obviously looking for attention, Are you proud to say you were a fat girl?" If I had the opportunity to go somewhere new and meet new people whether online or not and I was skinny, not one person would ever know I was fat at one time. Me and so many others hate being fat, we all have a story to tell but there is a time and place for it. -
:w00t:Hey everybody, I am from Whidbey Island, WA and am looking for a support group or some people that can keep me motivated and I can help them. I feel like I am the only one from this area that has had this procedure done. The hardest part is getting started and I would love if we could get started, I know I'd never stop. Anyway, just let me know and we can get in touch. Thanks.

Banded Six Days Ago- Band is rubbing my diaphragm. Has this happened to you? HELP!!
Cat Martin replied to BonMag's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may not have thought of this since I never thought this could be the case but I had the same exact issues. It felt like it was flicking or tickling my ribs and not in a good way. My doc told me about the possibility of being constipated. She told me to take some Milk of Magnesia to get things moving, she was right. I've felt just fine ever since. I would try some of that and see how you feel. -
Thats normal. Surgery actually triggered my period and it lasted a whopping 10 days and even then it was still messy when I pee'd and had to wipe. Not to be too graphic. But I asked and was told that its normal, I'm 28 so no menopause here either. You would think they squeezed our uterus while they were in there or something.

Home from th hospital.....gas pain in shoulder
Cat Martin replied to givempills's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally no gas medicine helped me, walking never helped me either. I was faithful with my pain meds. The doc gave me Oxycodone and although it put me to sleep often it was the only time I felt better, not relief but just better. -

Banded on Monday, Aug 17
Cat Martin replied to joshesgirl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Quite a few people from my doc's office drink Myoplex or Carnation Instant Breakfast No Sugar added. In the hospital they gave me Boost, for Diabetic People. I'm actually confused because of the carb content however the doc said those were good as a last resort. I drink nothing but chocolate because I'm so picky. They all taste like pudding to me. -
Dr. Aaron Hoffman - how long do i wait to get into a seminar?
Cat Martin replied to goodhealthin2009's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I wouldn't wait, if he wants your business that letter would be in your mailbox. Resubmit your application for services, maybe if the office sees it again and again they'll make sure you are in. -
Hey everyone, I'm here on Whidbey Island. I was recently banded on the 3rd of August at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle. I just wanted to introduce myself and maybe find some support.

What are normal symptoms after surgery
Cat Martin replied to Cindy1955's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some symptoms for me were the same, gurgly stomach, gas and sore across the torso. I slept in the recliner for about a week than laid on my right side. I was getting a pain right under my ribs for a while, kinda like my belly was swollen and knocking my ribs. After a call to the doc of course he points out the obvious...I was constipated. Milk of Magnesia is awesome stuff. You just don't think about constipation at times like this, lol. -
I am a full time student. I was military for 10 years, its a mystery how I let myself gain so much. I had 3 kids in 4 years and toxemia with every one of them. I worked out like a fiend and came out of every pregnancy with 40lbs on top of what I never lost with the last. My kids go to daycare and my husband works. I do feel a bit better, I'm learning my triggers on my upset stomachs and indigestion. I have yet to throw up. Its so easy when I am home by myself, I have no one deal with when it comes to real food. I can drink my shakes and water but as soon as everyone comes home for the night, dinner has to get made. "Oh no, real food". I got back on track however, its just been hard. The Myoplex is like pudding when I blend it in my Magic Bullet. I get full off the 2 gulps I take at a time, I can't even get in more than 1 shake a day because I never feel hungry. Water I seem to cant get enough of. I am so thirsty all the time. Havent lost any extra weight though.

Hey Everyone, I just want to put out there that I was banded 3 August, if there is anyone else out there wanting to keep in touch about how we are doing please, "write on!"

What did you do to survive Clear Liquid pre-op diet?
Cat Martin replied to incolorado's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wonton Soup broth, Otterpops, Water and Crystal Light. -
Thats so funny, because the same happened to me. Its like he banded me and squeezed my uterus while he was in there. My issues is its been going for a long time. It got heavy about 3 days into it and it hasn't died down yet.
