  1. I am scheduled to have my revision surgery (band with plication) on November 14th, a birthday present to myself. I have already had 1 slip repair surgery and I think this will be my last attempt. I've been reading a lot of success stories on different forums and decided to go with band and plication surgery. I absolutely love my band and hate that it slipped. I guess I just wanted to get some reassurance from people who have had the band with plication or plication surgery. I'm a little afraid of the plication only because its new to me, but I felt the exact same way before I had my lap band surgery. Any response is welcomed.

Hey Bos123, How are you feeling?
  3. Well I just got back from the Doctor's office from my 2 week checkup and I've lost 14lbs so far. That's almost a pound a day! I've also been given the green light to start working out at the gym as well, so I'm hoping I will lost more before I get my first fill on Dec. 20th.

    2 Week Check Up!

Yes everything is going well, I have noticed that my appetite is getting back to normal. I am getting hungry about every 2 to 3 hours. Can't wait to get my fill on Dec. 20th.
  7. I'm drink between 37.5-45 grams of protein a day and I.m not sure on the water I am sipping all day. I'm sure I could be drinking more water its just hard because I focus on the protein. When I first had my lapband it was never a problem for me to get my daily protein in through food, but I did find a Protein Drink that I liked and I still use. I can't drink that powder stuff, I drink the Atkins protein drinks that's the only brand that I found that I like best.
  8. I know everybody is different but when I first got my band I was still hungry after surgery (granted it was empty) now I seem to not be hungry at all. Plus I losing more weight now with the plication then I did before with the band. I'm not saying that plication is better than the band because it to early to say that but I am noticing differences and its only been one week.
  9. Well today marks my week post surgery (revision surgery Nov. 14th) and I am glad to report that I am down 10lbs. I can also tell the difference between being just banded and also having plication as well. I hope to keep moving the the right direction but as of today I am very pleased.

    Help!!!!

Also I think you are missing some medicine not sure if every Dr. is the same but I got 3 prescriptions. One for pain, one for nausea, and an antibiotic, call your doctor and double check.

    Help!!!!

I had the patch also and I had to remove it on Thursday, ( I had my surgery on Wednesday) it was making me sick. Once I took it off my stomach felt better within an hour, but you should have medicine for nausea as well. You should call your doctor because you don't want to vomit.
  12. I agree with Davell23, you will hear good and bad things about all of the weight loss surgeries. Everybody is different and their bodies will respond differently to each surgery. I know it's hard not to worry but try not to, you will drive yourself crazy in the end. Going into my surgery I told my doctor if anything went wrong I was leaving, it was a sign I shouldn't have the surgery. Well my surgery went off without a hitch, in fact all I do is laugh when I think about how we acted up Wednesday morning. I was all worried for nothing. I would focus my mind on what changes need to be done after the surgery. Like eating slowly and smaller portions.
  13. "Bos123 Yes right now my band is empty, I can't remember when my Dr. said my first fill would be, but I am scheduled for my next appointment on the 29th. I don't mind answering your questions, I just wish more people would open up on this site so we can be better informed. So ask away!
  14. I actually got both band with plication. I personally didn't want to do the sleeve since it cuts off some of the stomach, and plus it get the benefit of the band if I need it down the road. Yes I'm back on liquids but its not that bad this time right now I'm not even hungry I hope it stays that way till I can do soft foods.
  15. I'm feeling fine, the only thing I feel that's different from just the lapband surgery (remember I already had the lapband it had slipped) is that my stomach is making noises kinda like when you are hungry but I'm not. The whole experience was wonderful from the nurses to my doctor. First of all I was the first one scheduled at my request, so when I got there it was really quiet until we had everyone laughing. My nurse pulled a joke on me, I told her I was afraid of her not finding my vein because its always been an issue. But she got it on the first try, then she said that the IV wasn't working but it was. Then my doctor comes in with a big smile on his face and gave me a big hug. It was the best experience I've ever had it really didn't want to leave. I had my surgery at the Fort Worth Surgery Center in TX.
  16. Well I made it through surgery ok, and I'm at home doing well. I really don't have pain just discomfort from gas, by walking helps with that.
  17. That's good for 11 days. Please keep me posted I'm sure I will have more questions as my surgery date gets closer.

    band slippage "Im scared "

Honestly I haven't really thought about it not getting approved, just waiting on my doctor's office to schedule my surgery date. I've switched insurance companies since I had my original surgery, and my new insurance does cover it. As far as any signs, I really didn't have any pain, I didn't even know that I had slipped till my doctor showed me on the xray. I do recall being able to eat more than usual so I made an appointment to get a fill. He said that it was a small slip and wanted to correct it so I wouldn't have any problems in the future. I was able to see my before and after x-rays and you can tell that it is not in the same positon. So now my band is pretty much empty and I am working out like crazy so that I don't gain to much weight.

    band slippage "Im scared "

I am going through the same thing, I had a small slip and my doctor took all the fluid out of my band. I had to wait to weeks to see if it moved back into place. When I went back in 2 weeks all looked fine so he added some fluid. I had to go back a week later to check the band again, this time the band had moved again and he stated that I would need to have surgery to correct it. So now I'm just waiting on the insurance company to approve the surgery.
  20. I was banded 10/28/09, and had my first fill in Feb.2010, I didn't really start losing till March after my second fill. Keep doing what you have been doing, once you get more restriction you will start losing more.
  21. It's almost a year since I've been banded 10/28/09 and I'm down 60lbs!!! I've never felt or looked better and I do look good. When people ask me was the WLS worth it, I respond HECK YES, should have had it sooner. The only bad thing is having to buy new clothes but is that really a bad thing? I'm only 30lbs to my goal and I know that I will make it. Just wanted to share my success story with everyone.
