My story is this... I started working out regularly back in October, in preparation for surgery, but I wasn't losing any weight. In March, my GP prescribed an appetite suppressant - Phentermine to help me drop some weight before my surgery. It worked well - I lost 40 pounds before surgery. I had the surgery on May 29th. I kept taking a diminishing dose of the Phentermine until my first fill in early July the weaned off that drug. I've continued to exercise with a goal of 7 hours a week and my band helps a lot with appetite and how much I eat. So since surgery, it's another 36 pounds. I saw my doc & we decided not to put more in the band - I'm still at 2.4ccs and that is fine. I'm losing at a good rate - about 10 pounds a month.
I stick to whole foods; I'm pretty low-carb. I have nuts most days for breakfast. I eat grapefruit, cheese, eggs, olives, edamame, etc. for lunch. I have dinner with my family, whatever they're having.
