Hi James, I was hoping to have my surgery in October or November. My insurance company is now requiring me to go on a 6 month weight management program. We are leaving tomorrow for vacation, so I guess I'll check into a program week after next. How are you doing with your band? Did you have it done in Columbus?

I don't blame you. I hate waiting 6 months for a weight management program. If I had to wait 2 years I would be a little upset. My doctor does it for $12,000 at this time. I can't afford self pay so I'm trying to meet all of the insurance company's requirements. Of course, that doesn't mean they will approve me then.

SwanGirl, I had an EGD last week. My doctor also took a biopsy. They called me back yesterday and said that everything was fine. I hope yours was just a routine procedure for your doctor. -

My doctor should have everything he needs next week to send into my insurance company. I just pray that they approve it. I'm hoping I will be able to schedule in October. September is so crazy at our office and I was told that my insurance company had up to 30 days to make a decision. All of you please keep your fingers crossed for me. -
I have 3 grandchildren and they call me MeMaw. Since I am over weight, I decided on Chubbymemaw.

Hi Jerzee Girl, I went to a seminar on 7/14/09. I saw the doctor last week. I'm not sure how long it will take, but we are moving right along with all the appointments I need. Good luck. Chubbymemaw

Congratulations! My doctor and I are getting everything together for my insurance. I have a few appointments with doctor, nutritionist, phys. and a med procedure before we will have everything together. I'm hoping we will have everything ready to send in before the end of the month. I hope I hear something before the end of September. Maybe in a month or so I can post the same message you just posted.

I will be 60 in January and I went for my first appointment yesterday. The doctor said that I was a good candidate, due to my medical problems. I have several appointments scheduled and I guess the outcome of those will determine whether or not I can have the surgery. My doctor didn't seem concerned about my age. -

I went for my first appointment today. The doctor said that I was a very good candidate based on my medical problems. I have an appointment with my PCP and my phys. eval. next week. I meet with the nutritionist the week after. I'll keep everyone posted as my journey progresses.

Everyone please think about me tomorrow and keep your fingers crossed for me. I have my first appointment with the doctor tomorrow morning. I've attended a seminar. I don't know if the doctor will approve me for surgery or if my insurance company will pay.

I'm chewing nicotine gum to try not to smoke. If they test for nicotine, that will be in my system. I guess I need to ask my doctor about that when I go Thursday. -

Congratulations to both of you. I have my first appointment next week. Keep your fingers crossed that I qualify for the surgery and that my insurance will help pay. I'll be thinking about you Wednesday. Please post as soon as you feel like it and let us all know how you are doing. -
Hi Hot42, I hope it works out for you. I have the same problem you have. I'm a little under the 40BMI and I have some health issues. I really hope I'm approved. I'm only 4'11" so every pound really shows on me.

I agree with you. I'm coming to this site to try to learn as much as I can, since I'm considering the band. I don't enjoy all this arguing.
