I feel your frustration. It is hard I have the opposite problem I might have slippage. I don't know about you a part of me wants the band kept in and the other half is worried about constant problems. In a time when everything is changing for the better you then have a new dilemma on your hands. I have to say I waiver back and forth because the band works but I still think about it over and over again. Goo dluck I have no doubt it will get better for you. Have you thought about maybe switching surgeons..are there others in the same office you can go to because your doc should listen to your instinctions.

I possibly have band slippage I am going to have an upper GI within a week or so. I have odd feelings on and off but still the doctor wasn't too concerned. It's liveable. If it isn't slippage then an unfill will be done. However, if I have to have surgery then I am questioning whether or not I should have him take it out and leave it out. I am concerned that if it did slip then how often does it happen again. I have lost weight and I am happy with the band so it is hard to explain exactly why I feel that it should be taken out and left out. I need some advice and if anyone knows of someone that had the band removed because of slippage and left out. I need some advice. I have been thinking about this for the last 2 months when I got my fill and it was too tight.

I belonged to Curves when they first came out and I didn't much like it...didn't see the results. Probably like someone else said the weight resistance doesn't change.

I am actually going back in 2 weeks, the soonest they could get me in! I have given the last fill about 21/2 months for me to adjust to it. I haven't lost anything mainly because I am having to eat slowly throughout the day to get in enough protein which means I am grazing and can't remember what I have eatten. I know I can/should be tracking but I am miserable. If am able to get something down I have to be standing while I eat...not always possible, or I have to add sauce ...not good, or again graze. Last Monday I threw up scrambled eggs that I chewed to the point where I couldn't anymore...kind of hard to chew eggs when they are already in small pieces! So you are not the only one. I wish this one would have worked but I guess it was too much.

Question about bras after surgery
ThinAli replied to mbranham0306's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Aren't you lucky!!! I would love to loose some of my bulk but it hasn't happened! I have shrunk to a 36 around and I have lost nearly nothing in the actual breast my cup has actually gotten larger.(according to how the bra specialist measure you) I would suggest going somewhere like Victorias secret and get a nice bra as well and they can hook you up with a variety of sizes as well as water bras. They have several different types of padded bras. Until you can have surgery to add some size to them....if you so desire! -
If you are still on pain killers then that could be part of the problem. I didn't really experience any nausea but that could be a major part of it.

How many "walks" while in hospital?
ThinAli replied to honk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well depending on where they slice and dice you the seatbelt may sit on the sutures. and one can only imagine how painful it would be if the driver hit the brakes hard! -
How many "walks" while in hospital?
ThinAli replied to honk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't walk at all in the hospital. I wouldn't bring your pj's. I don't know how many surgeries you have had or if you have ever been put under but I hadn't until this surgery. My bladder didn't wake up from the drugs so I had to be cathered twice and they have to use sanitizers down there that would have probably stained my clothes. If you are worried about people seeing your bum maybe bring a robe to cover up. I wore a tee shirt and shorts home and a sports bra. My port is about 4 inches below my breasts and with the bandage I was afraid to mess up the bandage. MY big advice is to bring a pillow for the ride home. Put the pillow between you and your seat belt. I slept with the pillow on my tummy as well because i rested my hands on my belly. At home I did the same because I have animals that walk over my belly in the course of the evening...this spared me a lot of pain. -
What would you like to have redone first?
ThinAli replied to SoccerMomma73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
lower belly has always been pouchie sad thing is I have never had kids...just genetic. I would want a tummy tuck, boobs, and inner thighs...again hard to prioritize and I agree even though it will be a fortune I want to do it all at once. Although I always thought i would need a little lipo in my chin and while it isnt where i would like to be it is getting smaller which makes me happy one less thing to fix. My inner thighs hopefully will only need a little lipo although a new thing i have heard of is you are injection in an area with a fluid that freezes the fat and then the frozen fat cells basically disappear within 2 months. And this can be done by a dermatologist its too new for me to say i'd do it but it is a good option! -
My understanding is that the only thing stitched is the port...not the band. If the band was stitched and it did slip whether it was through the patients fault or not it would rip the stomach...at least that is what i think.

I have been fat for over 10 years now. Nowhere near what I was when I had surgery almost a year ago. I have been stuck between 45-50 lbs since Jan. I am very frustrated with myself and thinking that maybe this was a mistake. Although I don't think I would have lost this weight without it. It seems that I sabotage myself from being happy. I have a great day of following eating and calories guidelines and then I pig out on candy before I go to bed. (I don't buy the candy I live with my family.) Or I am doing great with working out and then I stop or fade out. I think the real problem is that I have been this way for so long that it is safe and comfortable even though I hate the way I look. It is a security blanket and I don't know what to do in order to get over that feeling and move on with my weight loss. Anyone out there have any advice? I hope I am not the only one that has done this and hopefully you can get me over this hump. Alison

I feel like I am Starving Post OP 6 Days
ThinAli replied to KERBY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It gets better if you are allowed eat jello it should stay in the pouch longer and make you less hungry. Thin mashed potatoes are great...with a little cheese very little to give a little protein to keep you satisfied longer. I was allowed to eat creamy soups rather thinly made. Or any soup pulverized into a liquid and I always chose a split pea with ham or potato cheese. As long as they are really really ground up you should be fine. I know at some point it felt like you were always eating something sweet. It gets much better once you can start doing the things i wrote about above...you feel normal again. And I will say it was hard to realize what was head hunger and which was food hunger. I still battle with that. Also my port was sore for a while probably severely sore for about 1 week and then gradually better for the next several weeks. I would roll out of bed instead of sitting up in bed and getting out...using your abs I felt made it worse. At the hospital they made me sit up first and then get out of bed. -
Surgistrips on Incisions?
ThinAli replied to ginger61's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my doc had me pull off mine at the one week point I had no sutures underneath though because glued that incision. I only had one entry point...the other of course was the port. The bandaging on the port I pulled off, under the nurses advice on like day 3. I was starting to get a rash because of the adhesive. -
All I can say is I am in the same position. I do not have great restriction. And I am falling into old habits so I completely understand. I feel all the things you do and question myself about why I do this to myself. Unlike you I have always known that I was addicted to food. I eat when I am not hungry which is frustrating to me! But I am the one that needs to take responsiblity for my actions and get back on the wagon. I plan meals throughout the day and far in advance...I think about what I have at home to eat when I get there. I am a hostage of sorts to my mind I don't know why I do this to myself. I do what you do I work out and they justify eating this or that. If anyone else has advice I would love it because I need to get off my plateau that I have been on!!!!
-
The one thing you need to remember is that it gets easier. It is very overwhelming to think about taking all the protein through liquids. And also remember you are coming off the morphine and you haven't eatten anything for over 24 hours. Your body is adjusting I remember in the first few days I didn't know how I was even surviving because all I eat was the sugar free popsicles, jello, and protein drinks. I focused on how I felt in those early days and didn't focus so much on how many grams of protein I got. That would of been really hard on top of dealing with everything else going on. Also if you are taking pain killers now that can also make you nauseous. Hang in there it will get better sooner than you think. You never know what to expect until you have the surgery all you can do now is to adapt you'll do great.

How did everyone deal with that time period where you could eat the same amount as usually? In the begining I count calories lost weight and things were great. Now I have plateaued for the last 2 months or so. I have changed up my workout since I think my body adjusted to my workout. I have gone back to counting calories and adjusting them to but I have not budged on the scale. I get frustrated and have had my calories as low as 1000 calories and as much as 1500. I then overeat..it is like the will power I had in the begining is gone. I have gotten to the point of believing that maybe 50lbs lost and weighing 200 lbs is all there is for me. I need out of this mind frame!! Any help would be great...especially from those who have been in this same position. Thanks, Alison

Acupuncture/How to get your groove nack?
ThinAli posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone tried acupuncture and did you feel it worked? I am thinking about trying it just to see insurance pays for it so I figure why not? Just wondering what others had experienced. I have been in a big rut with the weight loss and I know I am not as tight as I shoud be and my 3rd fill is not until March 15th. I think I am going to call the doctor tomorrow and see if he will let me in any sooner. I can eat everything and I am tried of trying to eat small amounts and still filling full. I have done fairly well to keep control over my food...I haven't gained any weight. I am trying to get back to where I was in the beginning when I was totally grooving and not eatting any of the food around the house that I shouldn't. Not that I deprived I had my treats and such but I live with family and they cook with butter, red meat, pasta, etc. They are down falls because before I know it I have eatten way more than I wanted too. Especially since I was not going to eat their food I was going to eat food that would go along with my diet. I then figure the day has gone to crap and I might as well eat whatever because it is already shot.(I know I am not the only one that feels this way so if you do how do you get past it?) I try to get home after they have finished eatting so there isn't anything left or I don't go around when they are eatting. I am so frustrated and I am not defeated but I don't know how to pick back up again. This the point in the past where the weight would come back on. So Help I need it badly any advice on how to work past these issues would be great. Thanks! Ali:frown: -
I saw a woman at the gym wearing the top of a sauna suit and I thought that wouldn't be such a bad idea to burn more calories/sweat more. I have a sauna suit of my own and haven't been using it I bought it years ago. I am curious if anyone has tried this technique to lose weight or if you think there are any problems. I have plateaued for a couple of months I am not at my sweet spot yet I get my next fill in March and hopefully I will be completely tight. I am trying to trick my body in the varied exercises I do in order to get my body to lose weight. So just asking about the sauna suit but I am willing to take any advice anyone can give me.

Is anyone taking diet pills?
ThinAli replied to neesh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had no problems and I don't know if my feelings are psychosymatic but I feel lighter and overall better. I have had increased movements and amounts. I haven't had the need to run to the bathroom no sudden urges. So I think it has been a very good process so far. -
Is anyone taking diet pills?
ThinAli replied to neesh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Right now I am using the Slimquick Cleanse thingy, just to clean things out! I haven't done one before and I feel amazing but of course that isn't the same as a laxative. I have tried Meridia before didn't do much for me but I have a friend, who isn't banded, and it has done wonders for her. It basically makes it so you aren't hungry and instead of eating because you are eatting to live. Right now I am also using the Slimquick powdered thing that you add to water basically like crystal light I don't know if it makes a difference because I just started this week. I don't feel totally different I do think it is somewhat of a filler and does seem to wake me up. It doesn't taste as good as crystal light. I'm giving it a try because I have been on a plateau for about a month. I have upped the exercise and I am trying this so we'll see. I know these things aren't magic just like the band isn't majic it is an aid! -
Chewable (yummy) Calcium!
ThinAli replied to juliansmom2003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love these you can get them at target as well. You can only get Vit C and Multi in adult form at Costco. Target carries those 2 and Vit D, Cal, and fish oil. I find all of them great tasting they fish oil isn't as good as the others but does the job. :smile2: -

Did you name your band?
ThinAli replied to Cocoabean's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I haven't named the band but the port is my alien belly button.
