    Pre-op today

It's getting closer and closer and more real. Nerves setting in a bit. I had all my testing done today and now waiting to meet with the dr. I've been at the hospital all day. I've got my list of questions.

    Pre-op today

I'm good. I'm down 24 lbs I'm on the mushy food menu now Still not back to work. I'm hoping to have enough energy to go back to the gym tomorrow. I've tolerated most everything I've eaten. My shakes are good and I can do cottage cheese and yogurt. I tried eggs and that was not fun. But I had the band a few years ago and couldn't eat eggs with that either. Where are you in your journey?

    Unjury shake questions

I have not added to water or juice, just soup. It was fine. I've also tried the Unjury chicken broth and added to existing chicken broth and that was interesting but not in a bad way. I think Unjury products are good. I like everything I've tried. They are my top three choices. Good luck.

    The scoop on poop

My dr said you should definitely go every other day. She suggested Miralax in a shake or prune juice every day until we can get more natural fiber in our diet. I had gone almost a week. On day 6 I finally could go but I had been taking Miralax for three days straight before So who knows how long it would have gone on. I don't think this is a TMI subject. We are all going through this... So keep the scoop on poop talks coming. ????

If it comes back, do we get retested and retreated? That's definitely something I'm asking my dr on Tuesday.

    February

2/25 was my surgery. Since my pre-op visit 2/9 I think I've lost about 20lbs. I will see my dr for first post op on Tuesday so I will have a better number. I'm a little upset that I am still having to take insulin. With my limited calories and carb and zero sugar intake. I assumed I would be ok.... I guess I have to come to terms that my body is just not able to produce insulin at all. I had a cold the last few days which slowed down my excercise but I did go for a walk today. I also took my first post op pic to start documenting the weight loss. Also finally after almost a week and the help of Miralax each day I was able to go to the bathroom. I'm starting to eat Greek yogurt and had homemade chili tonight. It was so good and my pouch told me when I was full and it was definitely about 4oz. I had started to think my dr had made my pouch bigger (lol). But I think I'm just able to eat at least one meal out of my day. It's been 2 hours since dinner and I am still full, not uncomfortable, but have no desire to eat. YAY! My shakes don't have this effect on me. I'm trying to get around the "head" hunger and the adjustments to my life. I'm pretty sure that my dr will release me to head back to the gym so I'm looking forward to that. I prob won't spend 2 hours in there like I used to, but I'm looking forward to getting back there.

    Birth control post op

I'm back on the pill as of today. I was on it before and had no problems. I was also had an IUD and loved that as well. I may get that placed on my next OBGYN visit. But for now it's another pill.

    Egg drop soup

Is egg drop soup an ok thing to have? I'm thinking of maybe when I'm 2-2 weeks post op. Right now it just sounds so good and I'm 4 days out.

    Low grade fever

I spoke to my dr and told him my fever fluctuates to 99.9-100.5. He said bc I have a cough it's probably just a cold. And to just keep an eye on things.... If I get worse or have any symptoms that are in my discharge papers then to reach out. But I go for my follow up appt on Tuesday. Meanwhile I'm just trying to get my fluid in, not worrying about the protein as much. Yesterday I had one shake and about 20 oz of water. So I know I'm losing weight. But I wonder if once I feel better will I gain a little of the weight back?

    Low grade fever

I've got a low grade fever 99.8. Kind of achy and tired like the flu. I'm one week post op I hope that it's not related to the surgery. My site scars are sore and itchy. But I think itchy means it's healing? I'm going to keep an eye on things. I took one Tylenol a few minutes ago bc my body hurts. I've gotten one shake in and hardly any liquids. So I'm sipping on some water.

    I want to eat

I am not even 1 week out and I dreamt about food today. I woke up and all I want to do is chew or taste something. Is this normal? It doesn't help that I live in a no -WLS home so I'm subject to smell whatever's cooking. I thought the surgery would take away the hormone that causes hunger... Is this in my head? I'm so sad.

    Low grade fever

I tried calling his office but they closed bc of snow. I will keep monitoring my symptoms and call first thing in the morning.

    Egg drop soup

Do we count it as liquid or as protein shake? It doesn't have a lot of protein so I assume it could count as part of the liquids, much like chicken broth?

    Egg drop soup

Omg!! You guys have no idea how much that has excited me!!! I'm only 5 days out and these shakes are just disgusting. Also, are we allowed to add fruit to our shakes in the blender? Like half a banana or a few blueberries? I wAsnt sure about the sugar of the natural fruit this soon?

    February

I'm 3 days post op had GB 2/25. I came home yesterday. I'm trying to stay off the pain meds bc I feel super buzzed and can't concentrate. My pain has been ok. Was much better after they removed the drainage tube, I think it was on a nerve. So I am trying to focus more on getting my liquids in and my vitamins and mayb one protein shake. Only bc it all seems overwhelming and I can sip on a cup of plain coffee and get 10 oz in and switch to flavored water. My discharge nurse said focus on staying hydrated first. So that is my goal. I gained almost 10 pounds of fluid but I'm not worried about that. I will wait for my first dr appt in 10 days to figure out my weight loss.

    Aetna last visit today

I had my last visit with my PCP today. Six months went by faster than I thought it would. I will be faxing everything to my surgeon on Monday and hold my breath for approval. I've done everything on the check list and can't imagine any denials. But I am nervous.

    Should I or shouldn't I ?

Hey! My surgery is Feb 25 and it's getting here faster and faster. This has been a 2 year journey for me, so I am excited and nervous. My question/advise is this: I have been at my job for 3 years now. I love my job it's in finance management. I have excelled and moved up pretty quickly and my boss has asked me to apply for a lend/internship within my department for the next 6 months. I would spend half of my week learning new things and possibly a promotion at the end of it. Well my surgery is kind of at the beginning of this whole new position and my boss knows I will be out of work for 2-3 weeks and is cool with it. The problem is that it will put more pressure and stress on me , which I try my best to manage now... Coming back after this surgery and being put in a position where I have to be at 100% immediately worries me. I would never want to be put in a position where I don't excel bc of physical and maybe emotionally not at my best. I don't know if that makes sense. Knowing me- I will probably apply and see if they take me on. I just don't want an opportunity for my career to pass by. How did you all do going back to work?

    February

This pre op diet is killing me. I'm down probably 10 lbs with another week to go. I'm snowed in the last 2 days and have picked up knitting again to keep me busy. It's helped some. Plus it's hard to exercise and I'm tired I guess it's the limited calories. But one week tomorrow I will be on the other side. Just trying to push thru.

Got the position and they are very flexible with my surgery

    Liver shrinking diet

I am on day 2 of my pre- surgery diet and I am so hungry. My stomach won't stop growling. Any advice? Anyone in the boat with me right now?
  22. I'm looking for reasonable priced unflavored protein powder. I have a vanilla and a chocolate... Any suggestions or brands? Thanks in advance! ????

I tested positive. I'm on the 8 pill a pack during my 2 week pre-op diet. Apparently it's very common 2/3 of people have it. I'm wondering if my son should get tested?

    February

I'm on day 2 of pre-op diet and I'm hungry. I went to bed early last night so I could ignore my growling stomach. Surgery 2-25. How's everyone else's prepping going?

    Interpretation of my policy..

You just have to talk to your PCP at each visit that includes those things and they have to notate in your chart. Yours is similar to the Aetna ins I have. I just got approved last month. Surgery scheduled for February 25. Six months will fly by, I promise.
